A walking animation loop

I made another animation, as a break from my regular work. It's a bit rough and choppy still, but I'm happy with how it turned out - here's three steps of the process: The lineart, rough shading, and then the final result!

The heat

The way I was raised, the only appropriate time and place for complaining was directly to the person who either caused the problem, or has the most power to fix it, with the intention of informing them that there is a problem that requires fixing. If something cannot be helped, it is not a problem, but simply a part of life, which won't go away no matter how much you'd complain, so there's no point in complaining at all. And if something isn't big enough of a problem to need fixing, it's cert...

Braced for impact

I am pre-emptively prepared for conflicts that aren't there far more often than is probably reasonable. Fortunately my approach to arguments is to be extremely civil and polite until the opponent makes their first move, after which I will drop that veneer of civility like anime character's battle restraints. So when the inevitable conflict is all in my head, and the person who doesn't even know I think they hate me never makes that first move, the conflict stays as a figment of my im...

Finnish "divorced boomer bops" aren't really bad music, they're classics really, but it's funny that he listens to them.

Bad choices make good stories

Every time I see a news article where a couple or several friends were caught doing something completely baffling, I always wonder where they managed to find the world's only other person/people who would agree that it's a great idea.

I dreaded helping a friend today

I have a friend in Poland, who isn't from a good background either, and whose boyfriend is even worse off. He loathes the thought of asking for help with anything, so when he asked me to share a fundraiser to help them out, I knew the situation is Bad. And yet I dreaded sharing it - I agreed to, didn't even think of declining - but I dreaded it nonetheless. I don't know what I rationally would have to fear, some kind...

Wet cake

This was my boyfriend's valiant attempt to make a mother's day cake. It was more of a stew than a soup, to be fair, but still something you'd rather eat with a spoon from a bowl.

SOIL! SOIL! SOIL!

I didn't think to take a picture before planting them, but not only had the potatoes in the fridge started growing roots, they were already growing baby potatoes.

Sudden recall

I had been trying to remember for hours, I remembered exactly what kind of music it was and the singer's distinctive style of singing, but for the life of me couldn't remember the name of one single song, or even enough lyrics to google it. My brain kept suggesting "Coldplay", but it wasn't it. Then I remembered that it had a V somewhere in the name - Volbeat! My brain kept suggesting "Coldplay" because the second-letter O is pronounced the same way in both names!

Also yes I s...

Plant care

I didn't think of taking a picture of the first cutting I did, but now that I know how to do it here are my attempts two, three and four next to Big Mom Tree, and between them the cutting plant I got in trade from my boyfriend's grandma!

Digging a hole

Yes, we're digging another hole. The plan is to try making another dugout, this time with more experience than last time. And I'm still not used to my boyfriend's and his siblings' habit of bickering about silly things for fun - they did, indeed, start arguing about whether the hole counts as a tunnel, and dug out the official definition of what constitutes as a tunnel.

Meanwhile I didn't want to interrupt because I didn't want them to stop me from digging out a stone half my size by m...

Sometimes I will just give myself permission to do something completely different than what I was supposed to be doing. Weatherproof

I had a different idea for the goggles, but I only thought of it after already drawing this one - we had a conversation about his safety gear, he was being self-conscious that the goggles would "look stupid", and I told him that nobody's going to look at them and thinkt they're stupid, they're going to look and think "man, I feel stupid for not having something like that."

And just at the door when we were getting home, we passed two people and one of them complimented the goggles, goo...
