October icon timelapses part 1

At last, part one of the commission timelapses featuring two icons I did in the latest batch! October has followed the same fashion as September with being all around weird in every aspect (which involved lots of personal health anxiety), but working on all these fall themed pieces has brought so much joy in the middle of all the chaos so I'm extremely thankful for my wonderful clients for trusting me with their characters and ideas. As I'm approaching the finalizing parts of this icon batch, I thought it would be about time to show you the line art I've worked on for all the individual pieces! Not usre how much this part interests people, but it's something I have been tried to learn to get better at and I want to share these milestones with you! 😂

Reference sheet commission - Timelapse + composition notes

Timelapse of this reference sheet I finished recently for Bratblush! You can see me struggle a bit with the composition but I guess this only creates a perfect basis for the few tips for planning out a composition that also helped me to figure out the final placement of things here. I have this tendency to overthink and the usual way out of it is to focus on the basics. 😅

Have I ever told you how much I love working on reference sheets? I KNOW I have every time I post one, but I just can't help it especially now that I feel like I have found my style in constructing them. Everything I create includes a bit of a trial and error (often more) but first and foremost I try to compare myself to ME who I was few years ago and I have a lot more confidence now compared to back then especially when it comes to planning out the composition.

September icon commission timelapse 1/3

A cozy autumn themed icon that I had the pleasure to illustrate for Nordeva who is also owner of the characters! 🍂 It was so much fun to work with the colors on this as the yellowish green represents exactly what I see when I look out of my office's window at the moment. I usually lean towards rustic yellows and reds when I think of autumn colors so this was a nice change of pace! :)

Lineart WIPs

I have been working on all projects simultaneously (including the sticker/sketch rewards) which of course means that I'll have a spam of timelapses as well as step-by-steps coming up very soon as I'm nearing the end of the queue, but don't have a much share in the meantime. 🙈 I also have some graphic design projects going on I probably won't be able to share here, hence the small and delayed update this time. Hopefully my near future posts will make up for it!

Updates around commission openings tend to be slow as the beginning involves tons of emails, but I'll have a bunch of sketches to post by the end of the week. Part 1 of August sticker rewards! Made this slightly longer compilation of speedpaints than usual, as I'll post these in 2 parts this time. I know I have said this before, but I just love the range of characters I get to draw! I remember being worried of how I'm able to set my mindset for each sticker when I'm working on multiple in a row, but that turned out to be in vain because it has only been a welcome challenge and boosted my inspiration. <3

Finally posting these! Last month was extremely busy with Artfight and everything but honestly I had a lot of fun working on everything! I need a moment to catch my breath which also means putting my focus on posting everything I have drawn in the past month. Let's start with the last part of July stickers! :)

Pixel art timelapse

Pixel art is something I found my love towards pretty early on and seem to be drawn back towards periodically. It's somehow so cozy to work with, and a refreshing change to my usual routine! I hope to develop the style so that I can feel comfortable adding something like this to my commission lineup someday. :)

July stickers timelapse (part 2)

July stickers part 2! Although I like how the first sticker shown in this video came out, the process is a bit of a walk of shame because my migraine hangover brain decided that it's time to draw the wrong console - even when the correct one is my all time personal favorite! 😅 At least I noticed it before sending it out, so all is well! Just showing that things like this happen sometimes and how the solution is often more simple than it seems.
