Prison of Plastic - Private Book-Editing Stream

Here's a weird one, but I figured this might be of interest to some of you top-tier Patrons.

When publishing a book, you need to do lots of copyedits, where a proofreader suggests changes to your book and you approve or veto them. I've already done this twice a few months ago, and this is (hopefully???) the final time I'll ever need to for Prison of Plastic.

I'm in a very weird position where my audiobook was recorded ages ago and a lot of audiobook services require your ...

Jello Directed a Video Game and is Streaming It!

During the last two years you may have heard me mention "Puppet Game", a project I was hired to do casting and voice direction on. This is the first video game I've done solo direction for! Usually I'm partnered with my bestie/worst enemy Lenti/Vixen.

Well, as of yesterday, it's out! We'll be playing it with some of the actors today at 3pm PST. Hopefully you can swing by! If you're not comfortable with horror stuff, don't worry, this game is pretty humorous and light. As survival horror...

One Piece Book Club - [Part 3, Skypeia]

Today at 3pm PST, Jello, Aloha, and maybe Bo (he's up in the air atm) talk about Skypeia.

Haha.

Hahaha.

I don't think we liked Skypeia very much.

If you're into us roasting stuff, this might be the one to listen in on.

NEW VIDEO - The World's Worst Lemonades

That's right, folks. It's here. After a full year of waffling of working on this thing once every two months while sick, I have completed it (also while sick, because I'm me).

JELLO: (Editing footage of me consciously sampling expired lemonade) I wonder why I get sick all the time?

This will be the final Lemonade video. There simply isn't enough lemonade left. Do you have some other, horrible thing you'd like me to sample 500 of to torture myself for the sake of charity? Let me kn...

Neo Trio Song (Early Preview + Artwork)

Hey all! Here's a (very) early preview of the next Epithet stretch goal. This song, Bubblegum Renegade, is set an an alternate universe styled after the 1950s. It's about Trixie, who in this universe is feared as the nefarious "Bubblegum Renegade", a punk who nobody wants to mess with.

Artwork and animation for the song will be done by prominent Epithet fan artist View Post

One Piece Book Club - [Part 2, Baroque Works]

Hey all! Today is the second installation of the One Piece Book Club. Today Bo is out due to family business, so Aloha and I will be talking about the Baroque Works and Alabasta saga, which is exciting because I honestly might call this the strongest part of One Piece.

LIVESTREAM ANNOUNCEMENT: "Smack Jello! (For Charity)"

Over the past few years, I've hosted several "Name That Tune" charity events where Players raced against Chat to see who could recognize songs for points. Now, for the first time, Players and Chat are working together! Their opponent? ME.

We'll be going through over 1500 songs from ALL the previous streamed games. Every time someone else gets a song before I do, I have to donate money. Chat and Players can make donations to hinder me and trip me up with challenges. The ...

GAME CONCEPT - "Writer's Block"

If you watch me stream with any regularity then you've probably heard me talk about some of the various concepts I have for games. The main ones I talk about are Jamboree, a Paper Mario-inspired game about ghosts, and Winds of Change, a strategy RPG that is my answer to the question "what would your ideal Fire Emblem game look like?" I get asked about the latter on stream a lot.

Because I have no formal coding/game design training and likely will neve...

Epithet Erased OP2 - "Say No" Animation Process + Art

This is a slightly-abridged flyover of the animation process for Say No, the "opening" to Epithet Erased: Prison of Plastic.

The above video contains five versions of the opening:

  • The initial concept thumbnails, by me
  • A rough animatic
  • Another animatic with rough keyframes
  • The "final" version that Powerhouse handed in
  • A reworked, true "final" version produced by indie animator Ky Bullock.

I hired Powerhouse, wh...

Jello Reviews "DREDGE" (ft. Yam)

EDIT: I have since also played Dredge's two DLC's, The Pale Reach and The Iron Rig. Iron Rig is arguably worth playing if you do not install Pale Reach, it solves some of the game's economical issues. Pale Reach isn't really worth the money no matter what you do.

Two videos in two weeks? Who am I and what have I done with Jello!

Old Art | College [Part 3 - Finished Projects]

Lots of stuff I did in college! This actually isn't even close to all of it, it's just the stuff I had documented. I'm sure there's a lot more of it shoved back in my childhood closet in Illinois somewhere. Luckily, I already made a digital portfolio many years ago, so a lot of this is actually organized and documented. I'll talk about the ones I have stuff to say on below:

Old Art | College [Part 2 - Industrial Design Artwork]

Assignments from my Industrial Design class. I was a Graphic Design major, but I also took a few ID courses because my school had a lot of them. ID is basically like... the people who sketch out concepts for objects and blueprint inventions. You literally spend a ton of time in this class just learning how to write the alphabet again, but in a square boring way. They will fail you if you do not learn this skill and it permanently fucked up how I write. Hee hoo.

Old Art | College [Part 1 - Miscellaneous Drawings]

About halfway through college I started actually getting what I would call "okay at art." I'm especially happy with all of the lineless artwork! Looks really good. I'm happy with a lot of these.

All of the images have captions with brief descriptors of their contents.

This is during a big, long period where I was preparing to work on my currently defunct webcomic Cornucopia, or Nuco for short. Because of that, there's a ton of artwork of Hiccup a...

Old Art | High School [Part 3 - Animations]

I took an animation class that was comically outdated in its software. This was like... 2011, so we definitely should've been learning in flash or something, but instead we were using this insane program from the late 90s which you can see in the above gif.  I remember it was so old that one of the limited export options was "export to Internet Explorer 98". Lmao.

Unlike my art pieces from high school, I actually think these animations are quite good. It's...

Old Art | High School [Part 2 - Doodle Gallery]

Some of the less bad doodles from my high school days, probably junior and senior year.

Let's play a little game of iSpy! See if you can find the following:

  • A white Pikmin
  • Candy Corn
  • An orange man with a big cleaver
  • A broken tusk
  • An afro mouse
  • Eyeballs disguised as nostrils
  • Extremely embarrassing Homestuck fan art (x2)
  • Pee stain (drawn, not on the paper)

There's actually a lot of concept art for ...

Old Art | High School [Part 1 - Finished Pieces]

Here's some of my stuff from high school that was saved on an old flash drive. Most of it was documented with a terrible camera at a low resolution instead of by a scanner or something useful, but I don't think I have most of these pieces anymore so this is the only way they can live on. I'm keeping them here for archival purposes.

All of these pieces have captions with their name and medium if you click on the pictures.

Old Art | Storybook Concept - "The Fog, The Turtle, and the Tree"

Another really old story from high school. One of the only times I've worked with watercolor. I consider myself a fairly skilled in a lot of mediums, but paint is absolutely my weakpoint. God, I just have zero clue what I am doing with paint. I think this is the only thing I ever did with watercolor.

I think I mentioned this in an older post, but before YouTube opened as a carreer path to me I wanted to be a children's book illustrator. I remember trying really, really hard on some of t...

Old Art | Storybook Concept - "Lorelai And the Pearl"

I just finished Dogs in Love, so I'm going to spend today doing a little spring cleaning of my computer before I finally install my new one.

This is another old, crappy storybook I made when I was like 15 for some high school class. This is the first character I created named Lorelai (there are three of them, I really like that name).

I don't have much to say about this one, but if post-college me could meet pre-college me and give notes on this graphic design he would sh...

This is the extended credits theme from Epithet Erased season one. This is one of the many stretch goals courtesy of the Prison of Plastic kickstarter. We already did a "Zora Villain song", so instead of retreading the same territory I decided to make this song an exploration of Zora's backstory.
