“Well Niece?”

“Prepare yourself.” I snapped, throwing down the visor on my helm, and Grunkle just smirked.

Then I charged. He twitched, instantly recognizing something was off, but unable to properly understand what his eyes were showing him.

Then we clashed, but from his perspective as he shifted his shield to block a high swing, nothing happened, and his adjustment met nothing.

Then I was there, my true blade flowing and battering against his chest plate, no...

I stretched as I waved my legs back and forth. I was hanging with my feet half off the roof, as I looked out over the city, but my mind wasn’t really on the view.

I’d finally managed to get Divine Strength to level 10. Not only did it give me an additional 13 strength now, more importantly, it had expanded a new skill.

Mental Strength.

Just like Divine Strength I could flow the Light into myself, and strengthen part of me.

“So Alex has set up a gig, or rather he set everything up, including putting money down before mentioning it to me.”

“Do I kill him now?” I asked, as I slurped up some noodles.

Hiromi hid a little smile, and didn’t say anything for a few moments. “No. Frankly, I’m using what he is doing to learn from it. The gig is solid, and he threw it at me to okay it, although it was very much a trap. If I refuse then MSM loses eddies, and companies like that?”

“They ...

Ceri’ilis Trainee Spellbreaker

His breathing came rough in his ears. A few minutes break in between each round wasn’t enough to properly catch his breath, especially after so long.

“What do we do?”

“Shut up.” He hissed, still trying to breathe. It had all been a joke at first.

The girl was talented, he would admit. Her skill was enough to properly put all of them down, but they were four against one, and that should easily balance things aft...

“Happy birthday!” Mama called out, and I grinned as I was tugged over to the table. I was placed at the head of the table, and I looked around curious what was going on. I’d been in the middle of my morning exercise when Mama had called for me to clean up and get ready.

I’d forgotten, or rather lost track of the date again, and forgotten it was my birthday.

Then what entered surprised me.

“Grunkle?”

“Must you?” He grumbled as he came in carrying a tray...

“What do you think? Impressive huh?” Mama asked, looking proud as we looked over the grounds.

Forty or so Elves were gathered together, training. Some were young, although none as young as me, and some were obviously much older, but age hardly slowed an Elf until they got into their twilight centuries.

The bows were pulled back and fired, arrows often hitting dead center, although some were obviously still learning.

Others were running around, yelled at to keep mov...

You’ve gotten so much stronger.” Mama said, half interrupting my morning workout, as I hammered through some pushups with far less effort than I ever had before. Divine Strength was excellent for that.

“I’ve been training.” I responded, and finished my rep, popping back up to my feet, as I smiled at her. “You’re up early.”

“I couldn’t sleep that much. I’m used to the constant attacks and disruptions.” She said as if that wasn’t a horrifying answer in its...

“-orah, Dorah wake up.”

“Wha-?” I blinked staring up at the ceiling and at Mama hovering over me. Papa was there too hovering, looking a bit shell shocked. “Mama-Baby!” I gasped, adrenaline flooded me as I jerked up scrambled to my feet, nearly bonking my head on one of the workbenches in the workshop before managing to get fully upright and looking at Mama as she rose back up from her knees.

“Yes Dorah. You’re going to be an older sister.” Mama said, gently han...

“Please just accept it, Mistress Dorah.”

“Still just Dorah.” I whispered back, peeking in through the door.

Nata’liore was here, and it was getting awkward. As expected a military contract did come through. We were hired to enchant some of the kit for the city guards that had been expanding wildly over the last few months.

Or so I was told.

I hadn’t really noticed but then again the city streets were filling with more and more people so I was...

“Yah!” I yelled, slamming my training sword into the dummy. It wasn’t really fancy, apparently Zo’Talana had some old dummies laying around in storage from when he was a kid training.

The Dummy rocked back, as the strike caused a burst of Light. Rocking the dummy even more.

Seal of Righteousness was potent. Although I knew it could grow to do more.

I stepped back, wiping my forehead. I was outside now in the alley. The Stable was currently my training area for ...

I felt my eye twitch, but I kept myself calm. Elin’Kor was acting the gracious host despite the fact she was showing off her back alley criminal enterprise.

“The collectors can find anything in the city you need.” She explained to me, sending me a sly little smile as I replied with an utterly flat look in turn. Kimi of course completely missed the byplay waving at people she apparently knew, and getting greeted in turn.

She was well liked, because she was pretty ...

I made a quick note in my journal, and then nodded.

“Okay test three.” I’d spent some time testing out this new discovery, figuring out exactly how it worked.

Or at least I was trying to. The first few tests had been simple. Try to figure out more about the Light inside me.

I’d discovered that it had a few limits. Praying, or holding to my beliefs seemed to make it appear a bit quicker, otherwise I could go through a long time without even a speck of the ...

Meniel guided me away as the healers of the Hall worked to take care of the… Corpse.

She settled me onto the couch in her office, and then busied herself walking around while humming, preparing some tea of all things.

I didn’t have the energy to argue as she handed me a cup and I took a sip.

Ick.

But it was warm, and I felt like I needed that. Plus it was helping restore some Mana so I drank some more.

It came not with a shudder or a sigh, but a call from the street corners as criers spoke.

“The Elfgate has fallen!” The criers called out, and yet, it felt like distant news. There was worry, but when the next message was called out everyone seemed to just shrug despite how serious it was.

“The King reports a safe evacuation behind the second Gate! The Trolls were devastated for their assault! The King speaks highly of a future counter attack!” I ignored the criers' yells....

My arms flexed as I went down and up, up and down.

The biggest benefit of learning Power Word: Fortitude, had been the increase in Stamina.

It started simply enough. Three Stamina then it grew another stamina point stronger each level. Similar to Arcane Intellect.

But while it didn’t seem like much, three Stamina was quite a bit.

And now?

[Power Word: Fortitude lv 5 47/50]

Seven Stamina was nearly a fourth of all the Stamina I had.

“Of course we can help with that Alah’Dorah. You’ve given us a blessing after all!” Menial said, then looked like she’d told the funniest joke in the world.

Then I realized she actually meant it as a joke.

“Ugh.” I groaned, slapping my face.

Which made her laugh, her ears wiggling in delight.

“Okay nevermind. I’ll just.. Go.”

“Wait! It was a joke!” She whined at me, as I pretended to leave only to turn around.

“I know.” I said ...

“Happy Birthday!” Papa called out as I walked into the drawing room to eat and I jolted. El’Tela was there, along with both of the shopkeepers, Sha’Narin was smiling as he held a cake and Nata’liore was there clapping but as usual her smile was a bit faked.

Fair enough.

“I didn’t even remember.” I admitted as I walked up and hugged Papa.

“Oof!” He grunted as I squeezed him. “You’re getting stronger.” He said, patting me a bit awkwardly as ...

“She looks happy.” I whispered, trying to stay quiet to not disturb her. It had been some work to get this all set up. Apparently Hawkstrider breeding was a serious thing in the Capital, and it had taken a long time to find someone willing to pair a Hawkstrider with Chocobo.

“Your girl was quick.” Belinar offered, half laughing. I’d met the guy through Tira’nore as I’d been unable to find anyone willing to pair with Chocobo.

“Yip yip.” I called out and Chocobo settled in, and I grinned as I waved at all the people.

I’d come back to see Kimi and the others, I tried to visit if not every day then every few days to see Kimi, and play with her.

Although at this point it was no longer quite as needed.

“So… I’d be Felomin Arkhana’Shola?” Mama asked. She’d gotten home from her Ranger meeting thing, and we’d explained what had happened to her.

“If… You want.” Papa offered awkwardly, he was still hesitating about the whole situation, but before he could say anything more she pushed up against him and I had to cover my eyes.

There was a lot of talk that went over my head among the Magisters. But that was okay. El’Tela had eventually pulled me out of the Glyph, and we were currently looking at other things as the Magisters all discussed… Me.

“You actually wrote this?” I asked, interested as she handed me the book.

“I did. Many centuries ago. It’s out of date now, but it was acceptable work at the time.” She demurred, but I grinned looking over the book.

“Twelve.” I whispered, breathing heavily as I turned and raced back. Across the room up the stairs to El’Tela’s floor, then back down the stairs, and then across the room touching the wall.

Then I turned and ran back.

It was early, and some people were up, for the most part it was quiet, except the breath in my ears, and the constant sound of my feet on the floor.

I’d come up with the path mostly to integrate the stairs into the exercise, which would help. View Post

“Blessing of Wisdom.” I spoke, feeling the spell flow over me again.

I’d sat with Chocobo mostly because I was just feeling a little awkward in this new place, while I worked with charcoal pen and paper to create a schedule.

Then I should grind spells for a while. After that more exercise. Followed by some free time,, probably would go find Kimi for that. And then dinner, spend time ...

The knocking on my door woke me up and I grumbled rubbing my eyes.

“Dorah! Wake up!”

“I’m up!” I called, but it came out muffled. This pillow was like forty sizes too big and it swallowed my face… I groaned a bit and rolled until with a yelp I fell free and found myself on surprisingly warm stone.

But it was hard, harder than the wood floors of my room.

Another reminder that this wasn’t home.

My door opened and Mama looked in, seeing me spraw...
