[NR] It's Them Again - Chapter 415

Jason wasn’t certain what happened when the small beaver frogs grew up. Maybe they didn’t? It is quite possible that the young monsters needed to escape the control of the bigger monsters before they could grow. After all, if all of the smaller ones are literally just young examples of the bigger ones, there would be a natural disaster when they grew up.

Though this left Jason with only one method of figuring out what was up with the lakes. He simply had to watch the smallest pond f...

[NR] Observing the Local Monsters - Chapter 414

Though more interesting for Jason was the ecosystem as a whole. In the previous areas, sure, there were a bunch of animals, but overall there were the main monster species to deal with. He knew that his view on things was a bit warped. After all, he only really looked for monsters while in a danger zone, which tended to be characterized by the fact that they were areas overrun by a specific monster.

Here, though, there was a large assortment of middle of the pack monsters. Sure, the bea...

Heyo, wanted some opinions

The last month was hard on my wallet as I had a bunch of things happen all at once. Don't worry, it isn't "lose my apartment" bad or my "health taking a turn for the worse" bad. Honestly it was more just a matter of a bunch of yearly bills coming due all at once? Should be fixed for next year as I did some stuff to make it work better next year, but it has cut into my savings deeper than feels comfortable. So after looking through my options I decided to see what everyone thought about me off...

[D'sP] Of Course It Wasn't An Easy Job - Chapter 229

Not that Jim was against preserving the past, but he very much was of mind that it should stay exactly that, the past. This settlement, so close to his own town, was attempting to bring the past into the present and that wasn’t going to work. Even if all the pre-system hot weapons were still around, they would soon be meaningless if only because without some kind of mystical energy in them, even the most basic shield would have an easy time blocking them.

Though Jim almost half hopes ...

[D'sP] Jim Has A Task To Do - Chapter 228

Back with Doyle and Ally, they are considering a certain thing Doyle had gotten from the second tier of his new class path. Ally looks over at Doyle, ‘So, are you going to spin the wheel now or wait?’

Doyle bobs a couple times, ‘Eh, a new monster with sapience potential is interesting, but I’m not really certain how the system judges that. After all, my goats technically had a path towards it before I chose to go down the path of more goat.’

Ally nods, ‘True, though Iâ...

[Closed] Deciding the Short Story Prompt for August 2022

Below are the full prompts as the poll doesn't allow the full text. I'm going to run the poll for five days. The short story will be finished by the end of the month and will be available to all patrons.

Merchant Skill Battle - Two neighboring kingdoms have decided to sign a new trade agreement involving their resources, produce and services. Each kingdom sends their Merchant's Guild Master as representatives along with specialist advisors and guards. As far as the guards are concerned,...

[NR] MultiPower Runes - Chapter 413

Jason's only problem with suddenly realizing he had a treasure trove of runes, was that he would need to learn more about the local runic system. After all, his runes worked on a completely different foundation as far as he knew. In NeoRealm each power system had its own set of runes to work with. A ritualist would use Energy based runes, an enchanter has their own Mana based runes, and formation experts get to play around with Qi based runes.

What Jason has however is more generic than...

[NR] "New" Runes - Chapter 412

Jason took a mental step back and frowned. Why would it be a surprise? He took it as a surprise because it was a direct replication, but was it all that surprising? It wasn’t the first thing he had brought over after all.

While not as direct as literally scribbling out a rune from his last life, his ethos of cultivation came from there. All of that aside though, there were things that had followed him through all the worlds so far. Stuff like math and while not all the basic laws of r...

[Closed] Collecting Short Story Prompts for August 2022

So July's story took a little longer than normal. I'm going to let this run until August 2nd midnight so everyone gets three days.

Once again I'm here to ask all of you for short story prompts! I'll take the more popular ones as decided by the number of hearts (or that I particularly like) in the comments and make a poll at the start of the month. The winner will be made into a short story of a thousand or so words.

Not many rules on what you can suggest at the moment. That will m...

[D'sP] Well That's A Trade - Chapter 227

Doyle turns back to the choice between infinite or accommodation and flips a coin. Quite literally. He summons a silver coin and gives it a clip. Of course, the first flip was a bit of a whoopsie. Not the flip itself, but rather he had forgotten to assign which path went to which side. So with that fixed and another flip Doyle ends up with Extra Accommodations. So before he can have a second thought on the subject, he slams the 75 points into the path.

{75 points applied to Extra Accomm...

[NR] Well That Shouldn't Have Worked - Chapter 411

After the sighting of the other people, a group of what looked to be a small caravan of traders, the rest of Jason’s escape went smoothly enough. With Lily grasped in his hands, he continued fleeing until the monsters had all returned to the strange Mana and Qi supported grass forest.

Not that he stopped right away, instead continuing his escape until the first signs of trees and bushes showed up, you know, stuff other than grass. Though he still didn’t see the caravan from before. ...

[NR] Lily Fighting The Good Fight - Chapter 410

Lily just needs to hold out another half hour and Jason will have recovered enough to escape the grass forest. It didn’t look too good for her though as even with how many monsters she had beaten, more kept coming. Luck was on her side though as the monsters still in the grass began to falter. After all, it isn’t everyday that you see someone go and fight for so long.

Even with stats like Stamina and recovery items, this was just well and above what was normal. Five minutes would be...

So a bunch of stuff had happened, but finally Doyle had a bit of free time so he turned to something he had been putting off. Since just before the eight floor, he hadn’t really been looking at his skill levels and path points. It hadn’t mattered all that much since he was a little capped, but with a new level there was once again room to advance so he opens up his status panel to take a look.

[NR] His Last Option - Chapter 409

A day passed for Jason, then another. Step, step, pause. His mind was slowly churning, not over anything in particular, just churning. He had spent some time thinking over the map. This area wasn’t particularly pointed out. It was a danger zone, but blended into nearby areas. Only a forest a good distance to the left had any kind of distinct boundary.

Still, Jason felt it would be a close thing. The road continued on through a thin area of this grass forest, though thin was relative. ...

Of course, even as Jason was considering how he managed to run for days, he could already feel how that wasn’t going to be possible this time. As he guessed more than once since the incident, even with whatever changed about him, there was still a limit, still a barrier to further progress. A feeling that if he tried it again so soon, he would end up hurting something vital that even with magic might never fully heal.

This was a strange thing, even if he trusted said feeling. After al...

[D'sP] Covered In Vines, Waiting For Them To Pass - Chapter 224

The average worker ant doesn’t actually require anything from Doyle except time, something he is more than capable of providing. Though more appropriately, a good queen will need time to produce an average worker. With the start of a new nest, there is just too much to do. First a nurse or two to help with the eggs, then some diggers, and so on. If within the first batch of eggs a queen has created anything even close to being average, they’re already losing.

[NR] Tall Grass - Chapter 406

Jason really didn’t like the implications that came with the idea that his soul had been away from his body for too long. Especially since it hadn’t really been all that long, just a couple irl days, which meant it probably went off of subjective time. That or he was just so weak the amount of time he had was even more limited.

Either possibility made just as much sense, and neither was particularly comforting. Now, however, wasn’t really the time to delve too deeply into the subj...

A few days pass and both the town hall and the Adventurers Guild are packed with people looking for answers. Answers which luckily both the System provided receptionists are able to answer. Of course that doesn't mean they have the answers that people want. For instance, no, the town doesn’t have control over the party size. Such answers however do not put a damper on the rumors swirling around among the visitors.
