Life Update

Hey guys! I've been a little less active this month, so I just wanted to give you all a little life update. I'm actually in the process of moving!! I've been in a really toxic living situation for what feels like forever, and things have finally come together where I can have my own place with my pup again. It's a new chapter for me, and I couldn't be more ready. I'm looking forward to having space and privacy to create and experiment. And so excited to share t...

The last bath

This is the last set that I shot during my weekend getaway back in June. I literally shot it a couple of hours before check out. I just wanted to capture the silent emotional moments that I feel safe enough to sink into during a bath. The warm water is so soothing to me that it almost feels like a hug, and sometimes I'll break down in tears within moments. The first image is my favorite, though I'm struggling with the lack of emotion that I feel from it. I feel ...

Bedroom Polaroids

Nothing too artistic about this set- just felt inspired to play with my Polaroid the other night. I'm still figuring out proper exposure with my Instax and just really liked how these turned out. I did put a sepia filter on, which I think really adds to the soft romantic energy. It's got a little retro vibe also, which I also really like. I knew that if I lightened them up it would too much and take away from the mood, so I did underexposed them. What do you think?

Nature, more doubles, and some motion blur

I really wanted to experiment and shoot more doubles on this roll. These are from early July. I also wanted to include more of the roll than just what I think are the "best" and "successful" shots, and to embrace mistakes that I still make- Like forgetting to push the film rewind button in while advancing, leaving me with a single weird shot instead of a double. I think it also gives you a little better of an idea of how the shots are actually layered in camera....

Triple Exposures

A couple of triple exposures that I think turned out really cool! The first image was intentional, and I'm really proud of the execution- just a little bummed that it didn't turn out sharper with a little more contrast. In this image, I wanted to create a physical expression of the different versions of ourselves that are all housed in the same body. I used a little wooden stool to balance on so I didn't have to worry about shooting too low or getting the floor i...

The Healing Creek

First off, I just want to thank you all for being patient with me. August really took it's took on my mentally and emotionally, and left me feeling uninspired and pretty low. I appreciate every single one of you and the support that you've shown to my passion of creating art.

I've been waiting for what feels like forever to post this set. I shot these back in July after a collab with another film photographer. I've wanted to do...

Underexposed Polaroids

Another set of bathroom polaroid self ports - these ones are obviously underexposed...which is interesting because the settings and lighting were basically all the same as the last set. I just bought myself a new tripod so I'm looking forward to taking some polaroid self portraits outdoors soon! The camera also has a double exposure setting....I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. It just feels like cheating. It's definitely tricky figuring out the settings and n...

Weekend Polaroids

After weeks, I finally felt inspired to shoot some self ports and took advantage of the afternoon sun in the bathroom and a fresh bouquet of dahlias from an event I was at earlier. I'm still learning and playing with the settings on my new polaroid, but wanted to snap of few and share them here as well as a little sneak peak. They're all way overexposed, but I still think they're cute ;) I'm excited to be feeling inspired again, and excited to share more film with you all &l...

Wes Set - Part 2

I'm happy to finally post another set. I definitely haven't been as active as I'd like to be, and usually am. August is a really heavy month for me. I feel like I've experienced most of my losses in August over the years....people...places...my pup and love of my life. And it always feels like I forget until I'm midway through the month and it feels like I'm drowning. Then I remember it's August, and it all makes sense. And at the same time, that recognition and awaren...

Soft B&W's & a hotel by the sea

More self portraits with my favorite mirror! This is probably my favorite B&W set that I've shot in a while. I love the softness in the first few shots especially. It makes me think of old romantic Hollywood glamour that you might see in a movie.

Something that I've love about shooting film is that it really s a visual diary of personal growth. It's been a beautiful way to capture myself evolving as I heal. I can literally see it reflected in the...

Your Body is Light

I've been wanting to post this set for a while. I've used this lamp and mirror several times now for self portraits, but it feels like they always bring a new feeling to my photos. A lot of these are underexposed, but I actually really like that. I'm always trying to capture a sense of intimacy in my work but also love the element of mystery that I feel this set captures. To sound a little cliche and cheesy, it feels ghostly romantic to me...similar to my Ghostly Roses set. ...

Wes Set - Part 1

This set was inspired by the film maker Wes Anderson. He's got a very unique and distinctive style. So when I saw this little space with the chair in the hotel room, and the brightly colored piece of art, I knew I wanted to create something that looked like it could be straight out of one of his movies. I love the slight vintage feel, the colors and tones, the simplicity, and the awkward weirdness that just seems to work. As you can obviously see, the framing is off on all o...

Surrendering & Silhouettes

Another set from my costal weekend getaway. When I shot this set, I was feeling so emotionally and mentally drained. I felt uninspired. I felt really stuck, and a little defeated. During my trip, I found myself trying to force myself to create, rather than just enjoy one of my favorite places, and let the creative flow find me organically. It didn't feel authentic, and authenticity is where I want to create from and also inspire in others. I don't want that to ever change. ...

Doubles with Nature

A few doubles from my last few roll. As you've probably noticed, I love incorporating nature into my double exposures. I feel such a strong connection to nature, and am constantly in awe of its beauty, feminine energy, and everything that it teaches me about growth.

I shot all of these with nature from around my own neighborhood. I had really wanted to try the tree double again. Though I whish I was a little more defined, I'm r...

Spring Collab - Part 3

The final set of my Spring collab with Randy a few months ago. This was such an epic location. I'm really looking forward to having an opportunity to shoot some more self portraits there. I actually drove out there the other day to attempt to shoot some. The weather was super moody, and everything was brown and overgrown. I thought it was still really beautiful, and decided that it wasn't too cold to take my clothes off. When I finally climbed down to all of the rocks I almo...

Reclaiming places & power

This set is about reclaiming places that are important to me and pieces of myself that I shared with someone who didn't value them. I fell in love with this hotel the very first time I stayed there, and then I fell in love with a man. It was my place, and then it was our place. My art was a huge issue in our relationship, and ultimately, it was something that drove us apart. He never understood it, and I honestly don't think he wanted to. I constantly felt ridiculed for want...

Sneak Peak - 2nd outdoor shoot

Hey guys! Just a super quick bts clip of some self portraits I shot yesterday. I actually collaborated with another film photographer but had some time left after we shot together, and the last little bit of magical afternoon light. This was my second time shooting self portraits in nature, and is also just one of my favorites places to take my cameras and drive to. It’s really a magical place. I wish the video clip was longer, but I’m running super low on storage. I also tried to include...

A day at the coast

It's close to hitting 100 degree today, and I'm headed out shortly to take a drive out to the beach with my pup! So, I was inspired to post this little set. This was from a couple of months ago, when I met up with Eric for the day. We got some lunch, rode our bikes around town, visited our favorite crystal shop, and sun bathed on the beach. It's always an adventure when we meet up, and he always inspires me to up my photography game. Eric is one one who taught me how to even...

Body embraces and doubles - Part 2

Another set focusing on embracing my body. I really love the first double exposure and think it's very representative of how for most of my life, I've tried to keep myself small for other people; those in my personal life, and strangers in the outside world that had the power to judge me for wanting to explore self expression. I usually shoot a few of these more abstract self portraits at a time, but had this particular pose in mind. I was literally crouched on a tiny wooden...

My coastal getaway. BTS sneak peak!

A little sneak peak of some of what I shot on my last couple of rolls! I took myself away a few weekends ago to one of my favorite coastal hotels, and of course I brought my cameras. I'm drawn to this ocean and to this town. I also went to the botanical gardens and soaked up all of the magic around me. I tried not to put too much pressure on myself to create, and really wanted to be present with myself and enjoy my time there. But, I'm pretty sure I still managed to make some beautiful images...

First outdoor self portrait set & BTS

This set was shot the same day as my spring collab with Randy. For it being my very first time shooting myself out in nature, I'm pretty pleased with them. I had been wanting to shoot a set of self portrait in nature, and this was the perfect place. Not only is the environment just incredibly beautiful and inspiring, it's also extremely peaceful and provided privacy to experiment and create. There's something that's so incredibly freeing about creating art in nature. Even th...

Rose hips

Film has given me a new lens to see myself through and truly embrace and appreciate my own body, every unique flaw and all. 5 years ago, I would have never shown my body like this. Probably even 2 years ago, I couldn't have shown my body like this. But I didn't see myself the way I do now, and I didn't love my body then the way I do now, I honestly think that film has given me such a huge gift in a stronger sense of self, and allowed me to be more more present in...

6 Months!!

I created my Patreon 6 months ago guys!! I’m so thankful that I decided to finally put myself out there and share more of my art and authenticity. My art is very personal to me, as it takes so much vulnerability to not only create it, but share it as well. A lot of the time, my art is criticized and I’m left questioning whether or not it’s something that I should even share with the world. But, the community that I’ve built here with all of you reminds me of wh...
