Down to the wire

Two of this month's pics are now inked & flat-colored, and ready for shading! I can't say when they'll be done, though, because every time I start to relax, there's a new asset to work on for this contract, or some client-side emergency I need to help deal with...  The work isn't particularly difficult or draining, but it still demands my full attention.

Looking back on my past few posts, they're a little light on info...

Up until a little over a week ago, I thought I'd be contract-free until April. Then a new one came along. The good news - other than it being paid work - is that it's a Maya project, and it's not full-time or very demanding. Right now it's a bit rough, because my team is working out the process and the client's pipeline.

For now, I'm hoping to have the 3 Daisy & Mary pics inked & colored by the end of the...

My new class-based eyelid rig is finally working! It still needs some cleanup, but it's functional enough that hopefully now I can focus on other, sexier things for a while.

That time again...

So, billing is paused again.  Lately I've just been feeling wiped out. Moving twice in the past several months, the stress of the one contract at the same time as both moves, scrambling to get the Christmas thing done when there just wasn't enough time or energy for me to do so...  it's all taken its toll.

Late Christmas

Christmas is FINALLY over!!

New Comic Site

I'd been thinking about this for a few weeks, and finally did it - Daisy's Diner now has its own domain!

Migrating everything to the new site was more of an ordeal than I'd expected - for something that everyone tells me is "easy", it's eaten up half of my day so far.

Moving the old site is only a start, though.  The gallery is still a work in progress, and I may end up creating an age-gated sub-domain just to keep things somewhat simple.  I also plan on adding a patrons...

Now that my brother's place is quiet again - and the sun finally came out - maybe I can get this page done in a somewhat timely fashion...  then I can get the image pack assembled.  So, the sooner the better!

Even if there's no time to do all of it, I'm still entertaining the idea of doing this as a comic, though for now I may focus on getting the top portion of this page inked & colored as a standalone piece.

Boob Socks planning

After taking a few days off for my mental health, and to work on some Python scripts, it's about time I plot out my Christmas idea, don't you think? The clock is ticking!

I'm not sure I'll get all of this done in time for Christmas, but at the very least I'd like to knock out the top two pics. Then if there's time, I can worry about the filler.

Part 2 of my Daisy modeling retrospective is live! This time, I discuss - at length - rigging and scripting.  It's a bit long, and I may update in the next few days either to add more info, or to trim some of the excess.

With Tumblr imploding recently, I decided it was time to give my personal site some much-needed attention. One major update I'm working on is a gallery, though keeping my SFW and NSFW pics separate has so far proved tricky...  I'm tempted to just age-gate the entire thing.

Something else I've been doing is typing up articles to give more of an inside look at Daisy's creation. My latest one covers the ongoing saga of modeling her in 3D!

Tis the Season?

Good news - the current phase of my contract is complete, and I am officially off for the rest of the month!

Bad news? - by the end of that job, I hated pretty much everything, and dreaded any time Skype would ping. Now I'm taking a few days to relax and recover.

One thing that does worry me a bit is, we're almost half-way through the month, I fly up to Michigan in a week, and for the past couple of weeks I haven't been able to think about anything to draw, much less poses or composition...

I was hoping to have the next comic page drawn and assembled by now, but since that didn't happen, now I'm wondering if I should hold off on it and start planning the Christmas stuff instead. December is almost here, and while I should have the rest of the month off after the 15th, that doesn't leave much wiggle-room...

Complicating everything, at the moment - I injured my back over the weekend, so it hurts to sit at my desk. I'm powering through it with my contract work, but I can only tolera...

Decision Time

Good - With so little free time lately, I've had to prioritize what I spend it on, and work on only one thing at a time. Personally I think getting this comic chapter drawn was the right choice, given how long it's been delayed!

Bad - while I don't even have time to ink & color the comic at the moment, I also don't have time for any new ideas that pop into my head...

The Mantis dragon is now available in Dragonvale World, which means I can finally show off my work! This was the dragon my team had done as a paid test back in April, which then landed us the full contract.  I was responsible for the rigging* and animation.  I'll put together a video of the full set - along with some of the other dragons - when I get a chance.

* also the scripts to do the rigging.
