I thought it was really cool that I managed to do this alternate focus with the paneling here. The background starts zooming out as we zoom in back into the cart, until we get the full shot of the wall.
I knew I had to pull the focus out of the cart in order for the memorial reveal to have any impact. So along with the readers, Cassidy isn't sure what's gotten Mel and Nola to stop mid-bickering, until she gets a better view and see...

I'm inconsistent with my backgrounds and that is entirely intentional haha! 😈✨

The nice thing about a constant background is that if it's not the focus, you can get away with a quick color pick and just block it out! It's definitely saved me a lot of time in the up coming episode. I'm also not over Mel launching at Nola. This segment, and the panels of Nola and Mel that follow after, are some of my favorite panels so far haha 💖😂

Something I'm learning in the process is that if you want a wide scenic panel in the scrolling format.. you have to either sacrifice some elements, or make that panel a lot smaller than you intended it to be.

Those gray squares with scribbles on them? That's my script, and how it all starts out as. 😅
I'm a very visually dependent person, so I rough it out with only the basic idea of what the dialogue should be. I'm sure every artist has a method that works best for them. Although it may not look the most organized, it gives me wiggle room to further improve a scene and the dialogue when I come back to it.

Slowly but surely I'm learning the tricks of the trade when it comes to making webcomics. One of those being how much time you save when you re-use stuff you've already made once! During the thumbnail phase I try to figure out where would be some good places to cut the episode at. Since we've already had an episode end with Nola popping in. Ending it with Loren guessing about it would work much better!
