Flying Fish

A flying fish mermaid from last year's Mermay! Just slapped some color on her. Sorry for cheating, I just don't have the time to sketch some new mermaids right now. :(

A D&D sketch commission! The character was visually described as a mix between an Avatar and Naruto character but had a dwarvish beard and belt. This is the last thing I worked on before packing up my computer. I hope it survives the move! ><

Magikarp

A requested mermaid from a Mermay stream I held last year. Just added some color. She's practicing her ultimate move: 'Splash'!

H'yth

A FFXIV commission that took longer to complete than I originally projected, due to a lot of second guessing on my part. Thankfully the client was incredibly patient! 

The concept art showed the White Mage casting magic, and I tried to match the effects as well as add some of my own. Wanted to leave hints of Doma where the character is lounging around. 

Extinct Mermaid

My first Mermaid for MerMay! Based of the Dunklosteus fish to tie in with April's sketch jam theme.

I imagined a race of merpeople would find the bones of these fish and use them for helms and gauntlets. A lot of images of this species's bones on display have them floating on rods, so I liked the imagery of the bones sort of hovering around the wearer.

I really dig the sea witch/shark thing going on with the whole design. So it was fun to sketch!!

Long story short the Patron for this request got the topic confused, so now we have a super powered boy in a bunny costume lol. I like to think he also got the memo wrong and thought Picture Day was an entirely different thing. Either way he's none too happy!

Tried to make it like this character has the same uniform as the previous one, just modified. She was described as a girl that would use underground garage band merch to look cool and edgy but not really listening to any of it. Think we all knew someone like that in school!

End Game Group Shot

This was a very special commission I've been working on! It's a sketch commission of a D&D party in their end game armor. Each character had a description of their unique weapons and artifacts on their person, and a couple inspiration reference shots. So I had pretty much free reign on a lot of their designs!

Rough sketch of that Odogoran armor from Monday's stream.  I actually have a good idea of where I want to go with this, but in the meantime I figure you guys would dig just the line sketch! 

I never finished my Odogoron armor set, so she's still wearing the Ingot waist.

The Nameless

A commission to create an antagonist for a D&D campaign. I wanted to give him a sort of formless air to him, but then I felt he should remain humanoid. I tried to keep those formless, shifting elements to his smoky skirt.

I also wanted to keep his design rather primal compared to the current D&D party. Was a really cool design to work with! :)

I tried to go for a simpler lighting style since I want to get into making cool T shirt designs. Might have to have a go at this and make the cell shading very simple so that it can print out better. 

And I still cant decide between pink lighting with blue headphones or purple lighting with rose gold headphones, lol.  

Battle Maid

Had enough time to sketch my own entry for the Battle Maid sketch jam! I wanted to draw a sexy and mean one. So I thought I'd making her a delinquent. Halfway through the sketch I wondered why she'd wear so little clothing. So I figured she was a yakuza woman that had fallen so low in ranks and became a servant. But she still shows off her tattoos to remind herself and the people around Jerry she'll be powerful again.

Battle Maid Winner

Thanks to you guys we were able to pick a winner. As promised I showcased the entries on stream, then sketched the winning design. Within the same time frame, of course!

It was fun to work with the character's pose and powers.  Looking forward to next months selection!
