Oops - forgot some Project Bird updates!

Well I guess I forgot a certain white project bird in my last big project parrot update and I thought I'd answer some specific questions about some others as well.

Marabou working with Ellie!

In today's video Landon is sharing Marabou's progression working with her daughter, Ellie. If you all remember, Marabou took to Ellie early on but after working more consistently with Landon became less receptive to her family members so socialization has been a big deal to incorporate into Marabou's experience.

How I got Marabou to step up (50+ days together!)

Hey patrons!

Here's an update on Marabou and a break down of how Landon worked on "step up" as a trick. Keep in mind, step up IS a trick. Prim - Tube Training (in just 2 sessions!)

Treats I’m using for Primrose my parrotlet: Blueberry’s Seed and Grain Mix.

As you can see in the video, I started out trying to use target training but it was frustrating both of us equally so I ended up using luring instead (placing the seed mix into the tube and allowing her to go in to eat it).

I’m bridging as she finds the treats inside and eats them. This is so that she associates being in or near the tube with a click and treat which takes this behavior closer to trai...

I hope this is a more enjoyable way to see a real day in my life. As you will quickly discover, every day is really different around here but I do try to keep some things very consistent when it comes to weighing and feeding and cleaning my birds' spaces every day.

How to train a bird to step onto a scale

For those of you working with more hands-off scenarios with birds and needing to get a weight on them, this is a great technique for achieving that.

We've decided to retire the Omlet cages and go big with this new flight cage for the tiny birds to enjoy the back porch in. It took some rearranging of things but I think it's a good fit.

Why you haven't had a Marabou update recently...

I recognize it's been a while since you've all received an update on Marabou, the major Mitchell cockatoo project bird who is with my consultant, Landon. This video explains why and what Landon has been going through as of recent happenings.

We are definitely mourning with her through her loss and I couldn't be more grateful that Marabou came into her life when she did. It just confirms for me that this match was meant to be even more.
