Okay, it's me again with a progress update. Since I've been so much fun tinkering with Ren'Py these past few weeks. I've come to a point where I can definitely say; "IT'S POSSIBLE"
So after having internal debates and collaborating with one of my writers, I have decided that the next version of the game will be on Ren'Py, a more suitable engine for this type of game and a lot less stressful for the player (and surprisingly) for me as well.
I'll be busy the following weeks, Importing the scenarios from the most current build of the game, so look forward to it.

Here's a patch that combines Patches 0.6.10 to 0.6.14
This single patch can update your game from any version 0.6.0 above to 0.6.15
Includes all the bugfixes from 0.6.10 to 0.6.14
Simply drag and drop the contents to the main game folder and overwrite the old files.
If the patch is successful, you should see an updated version number when you start the game.

Hey everyone! cedr777 here once again.
The latest update 0.6.0 plus two patches is available now for all to download and play for Windows! After a few months of Radio Silence, I am Announcing that the project is not dead and today is its Release Day!
I am proud to announce that Charao Life 0.6.0 has been completed and is now ready to play for everyone.
I deeply apologize for the huge delay in this release, this was supposed to be released around last May but I unfortunately encountered a lot of game breaking bugs which needed to be addressed. That and I was only able to work on the game on weekends. Truth be told, This project has become a hobby for me nowadays so I tend to work on it on a laid back pace.
Also, aside from being a Weekend Game Developer who is still getting used to how this works, which is the main reason for the slow pace. Sometimes I would experiment with a feature in the game mechanics and research on how to do this and that. It really affects the pacing when I get carried away. Also, aside from Silver_Black's help in scripting the stories, I too, had to write some of my own into the game which REAALLY bogged down my pace in the Eventing part of development.
But despite all that, I am proud to say that I've learned a lot and I am confident to say that I've developed some degree of mastery of my craft. Future releases will therefore run at a smoother pace because of this. I also would like to take this time to say that I will mostly be focusing on the Eventing (which is assembling all of the written script and artwork into the RPGMaker editor) part of the project as I deemed it to be the most essential work for me as the lead developer.
Fortunately, I did manage to make use of that extra time by adding more content such as Free Roam elements. I have made several changes to the game elements and game file optimization that unfortunately does require you to start a new game. So to compensate, I've made some changes and added some content at the beginning so it will be worth your while. You can refer to the in game PatchNotes for additional info.
I will be standing by this week to fix any remaining bugs you may encounter and report. Despite being an amateur, I will to do the best of my ability to resolve any remaining bugs you might encounter.
Also I would like to announce that THIS PROJECT IS HERE TO STAY, despite rumors that this project is dead and that I gave up on it due to my radio silence.
From now on I am planning on commissioning someone to write the scripts for the game,

Hey all, cedr777 here once again.
So with the Patreon release of Charao Life 0.6.0, I've planned a few things for the next release.
One of the reasons for the slow pace in releases is that, I mostly do everything on my own. Sure there are occasions where volunteer work is offered but I still pitch in in a lot of stuff and that really bogs my pace at eventing the game in the editor.
To sum things up here are the major tasks that is needed for a release:

So as you can see, I mostly do stuff on my own and at a leisurely pace. Now there's gonna be some changes that I should make in order to release faster and easier for me.
One of them is to commission the script for the game so that I can focus on eventing and thus the purpose of this post.

Hi all, CEDR777 here once again informing everyone that I've been discharged from the hospital a few hours ago. I had Thoracentesis done to me to remove the excess fluid around my lungs.
Doctor said it there might've several caused by:
-Pneumonia that I had a while back(I thinks August or September) that slowly developed some fluid which in turn caused my lowest part of the lung to develop Atelectasis or fold in the lungs(there was a Ultrasound another X ray done before and after the procedure revealing this.) thus making(or even developing) the Pneumonia itself.
I did recall getting some cough a few months back that I thought was just simple coughing (though it did feel a tad itchy on the throat and hard coughing).
Doc gave me some meds and instructions to exercise my lungs using a Spirometer and Nebulizer in order to expand that part of my lungs so it doesn't develop into Pneumonia again (and thus Pleural Effusion.)
This means I'll be taking it easy and resting at home and recovering until the follow up check up next week. But don't worry as I'm feeling a lot better now and will be using that time to work on the game!

I know I shouldn't bring this up here but I feel people have the right to know.
Two days before my exam, I felt a dull pain in my left chest. At first I thought this was just a result of me sleeping in an awkward position and at the floor with just a two inch thick foam.
Although I was feeling some discomfort breathing (I could not inhale deeply without feeling the pain in my lower left chest)I figured this would not hinder me much in taking the exam.
The night before exam, I still felt the discomfort in breathing but I managed to pull through.
That said during exam day, Morning, Exam day, while I was inside the classroom, I gradually became very sensitive to the cold(air conditioning), and just my luck, I forgot to bring my jacket with me. The exam was five hours. I managed to pull through while bearing with the difficulty breathing, noon time after that first part of the exam(1 of 3) I felt very hot like I had a fever or something, I decided to consult the nurse in charge, she gave me some meds thankfully and I took it gratefully.
Luckily the afternoon wasn't too cold, probably the temperature from outside balanced the air conditioning inside the classroom. I was still feeling feverish and lethargic due to the sensitivity to the cold but I had to answer the test, so I bear with it.
After that 2nd part of the exam we were free to go for the day and was expected to be back tomorrow inside the classroom at the same time (7:00am). I went back to the hotel where I was staying together with a friend and some aquaintances. That night I felt tired from the 10 hour exam and my condition, on top of which my sensitivity to the air conditioning.
Thankfully, my sister brought me a jacket the previous noon. so I wore it until morning. I slept at 8pm and woke up 4am. I felt a little better the 2nd day of the exam and managed to crawl my way the entire last part of the exam.
Two days after that, I decided to get checked up in our local hospital at my hometown.
My mother accompanied me and the doctor(Pulmonologist) recommended me to get an X ray first.
The results shocked me, She said based on the x ray I had water on my lungs. She suggested that ideally I would be confined on the very same day at which they will administer some meds and if needed, drain the excess fluid.
My mother was against it at first, suggesting to the doctor that I instead take some antibiotics and one week later get checked up again to see if I really needed to be confined.
Doctor was reluctant but agreed to my mothers condition, she gave us a prescription to be taken 7 days. (from Nov 12 to 19).
I was at home resting for that duration while taking meds, I felt a little bit better so I used that time to work on the Game. And one week later, today (Nov 19) I returned to the Hospital together with my mother and Aunt, to visit the doctor again. Doctor said to get an X ray again to see if anything has changed. At this point I was pretty confident that I got better, since I only feel a little discomfort now than last week (I can now inhale fully, while only feeling a very slight pain, but what I would consider "tolerable").
Second X ray results came up and my mother and I was shocked, the fluid in my lungs increased! (despite me feeling better) we returned to the doctor to show her the results and there she told us that she had a feeling this would happen, Immediately suggested to confine me so that they could get the water in my lungs out and determine the cause of it.

As of writing this I am getting ready to go to the hospital tonight to be confined and tomorrow they told us that they might be able to perform the procedure.
There you have it, this means until then I won't be able to work on the game. But hey guys, rest assure, once I've gotten out of the hospital, I'll get back to it as soon as I can! thanks to Silver_Black and Rudy Omega for their assistance in helping me out with the game, I didn't want to trouble you guys but I felt I shouldn't hide it any longer.
I've also sent a message to my friends about my conditions and they are praying for my fast recovery. I hope I can recover soon and get back to work.

Exams are done, whatever the outcome is, I'm here to announce that I'll be working on the game again. I thank Silver_Black for his continued help on the script which really helped set the course of this game and Rudy Omega for the graphic aspect of the game. I am targeting a late November release, I already have a significant portion of the script I need to create the next series of events for the camping trip and more(as submitted by Silver_Black). So If things go smoothly, I'll be able to release version 0.5 this late November or early December.
Thanks to all my Patrons for your continued support and hope I won't disappoint with the next release.

First of let me apologize if my wording will be off, I am not a native English speaker but I will try to explain the status of things to the best of my ability.
Hello everyone, cedr777 here writing about the future of Charao Life.
By now, many of you probably know or have tried the version 0.3.0 of the game since it was publicly released and Free to play for all to enjoy. As a result of that, I've received several positive feedback from various people regarding the game.

To be honest, even I was impressed by the improvements I made to the game, heck for one I never meant it to have animated scenes. I had no Idea it was possible many months back. But thanks to the help of numerous people, I was able to pull it off. I was able to improve my mapping and storytelling skills as well.
I am very thankful that some of you liked it and glad to know people liked the game. It makes me feel that the months of working on the game was worth it if it could put a smile on peoples faces.
However, I need to be honest with you guys. In all honesty This latest release was a Sink or Swim for us,
Some of you might remember reading this post a few months back I made in F95zone.
This still holds true even to this moment. I was very careful about what content to release as I didn't want to disappoint like what I did last 0.15 version. Sure enough I managed to add several changes and innovations to the game to make it what it is currently. I've completely removed the battle system in favor of scenarios because it was preferred by the majority. Made sure that there'd be at least 2-3 hours of gameplay in this release, etc.
However this release was still a Sink or Swim for this project. For these past months we have been working on this project with money from our own pockets, but now that I've exhausted all of our resources...And now I've come to a point where I've completely run out of funds for this game. Even now, I still have debts to pay to RudyOmega for doing sprites and countless other stuff which I have not payed him for months now, yep it's long overdue...
It's nice to see the Patreon count has going up even for a minuscule amount over the past week, however it is still not enough to keep this project afloat at this moment.
To give you an estimate, I would need a minimum of at least $300-$400 a month in order to keep working on the game. Sadly, I fear that the Patreon count will never go up to that number despite the quality of this release. So I wrote about this in order to voice out this concern of mine so that people may know the future of this project. I have also changed the our Patreon goal to reflect this.
EDIT: It's sad because I had a lot of ideas I had planned out for the game if I was to update it patch after patch.
EDIT: My main motivation for working on this game was PASSION. I myself am a fan of the fetishes listed together with it. There was a rarity of games containing it so I wanted to create my own game and story that really focused on those.
TLDR; I did my best so that this project may continue, If I may go out, I might as well go out with a bang.

Just now I finished Kazuki-sensei's scene with over 300 lines of text. Next step is putting it into the editor and adding the art.
After that it's modification of Shizuru's old scene, adding the new animation to it.
Then modify Satoshi's old dialogues. Perhaps add a small scene to make it consistent.
Add an additional short scene for Shizuru before the camp events for consistency.
And some checks and were good for playtesting.
Maybe, just maybe I'll be able to finish everything by the end of the week.

Found something cool today, something that changes player's map perspective, I tested it while on a forest map.
There are some visual glitches though, mostly screen flickering.(which I hope on resolving with help from the guys at the forums) But I'm planning to add this feature to at least a few maps in the game just to add a unique feel to it.
I did some research on this in order to avoid being flooded with comments from critics like; "Just another low effort map making from an RPGmaker game. "
What do you guys think? no polls necessary.

NO I'm not dead, here's some progress. New title screen for upcoming ver. 0.2.
Which is when? well I'm halfway done with additional events at the camping map. After that but I'll probably need to tweak a lot of things. When I'm done, I'll send it to RudyOmega for bugtesting and Typo hunting.
I'm being really careful in planning my next release. I've been adding tons of feature and focusing on what people want (such as removing the battle system in favor of erotic events lol.) since It needs to have impact to garner support so that this project to continue.
IF I do manage to release the next version, and still no significant support comes then I'll probably need to abandon this project.
I'm sorry guys I'm doing my best but I've got debts to pay to RudyOmega for all the work he's done. So I'm giving it my all for the next version release.
It's going to be my last attempt at this, the future of this project depends on it.
If I'm to go out, this project is either gonna be a hit or go out with a bang.
Edit: video is too bright, yes I noticed. It's not like that in actual gameplay. problem with the video I suppose.

Hi guys. just letting everyone know that I'm still alive and working on the game (by myself unfortunately.) I've also been reading some R-18 novels over at novelupdates.com this past week as study material. You see, since taking on so many roles in this project (map making, coding, character making, sprite making, debugging on the fly) my writing has unfortunately been left out and I want to refresh my mind in order to come up with a few more interesting (hopefully) extra scenes for the next version.
The good thing is my friend Rudy Omega has joined me again and he is willing to help me in bugtesting.

Phew, After some tedious restoration and backtracking all available files, I managed to restore 95% of the progress just before the power outage. It's a good thing I had a manual Backup from last Nov 27, It really helped with the restoration. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't backed up the files on that day (it was the closest match). It really helped massively, I was able to restore almost all parallax maps and events except for the cafe map one which I had to rebuild from scratch. That map was also the active map when the power outage occurred so I figured It'd most likely be the map which was broken (tried restoring it to no avail).
Hopefully this won't happen again. From now on, I plan on also making backups using cloud storage.
Now resuming work on Karen's events.

Whelp, It happened unexpectedly. Another power outage occured in my place and it hit me hard. Some of the core files of the project has been corrupted and now I am desperately trying to restore the corrupted files. This is another reason why I need things such as a UPS.
Because of this, the release has been delayed once again, I'm very sorry.

I'm slowly reaching the final point of the next version release. Finished creating character busts and blinking animation to more characters.(I won't post it here though to minimize spoilers).
Adding events to the maps is ongoing. I still need more time to finalize it all. Will update again in a few days.
If nothing else happens, release will come this week.

Hi guys, cedr777 with a slightly bad news. I know that it might be out of place to bring this up but...
In a few hours from now there will be a scheduled power outage in my hometown (and neighboring hometowns) that will last 19 Hours.
Yeah, and that impacts my progress a bit, since I have no back up power to last me those 19 hours.
I really hate my Grid company, for the past decade their services has really declined, ranging from annoying 3-5 minute power interruptions to a frustrating 4-6hours black out...every now and then it happens and it really hits us hard since we don't really have any backup equipment prepared for this scenario. (Imagine working on the game for 3 hours then boom, lights out, data corrupted, f***k)
This led me to study renewable power a while back. Which is why, the first goal of this Patreon page of ours is to raise enough funds to afford emergency backup power (in the form of Solar Energy). So that we can keep working on the game without the fear of data loss due to sudden power outages.
Hate it but that's the downside of living in a third world country, sad.

Hello! Here's some progress report. This afternoon, while I was completing the events for the school map, I was pondering about the character busts... The previous version had static busts when idle.
So I thought of something...Wouldn't it be cool if the busts were animated while being idle? you know, to add more dynamics to the dialogues.
And so I did some researching and came up with this,:

Almost done with the school events (text part), after that will be events at the Downtown Area 2,and the Camping Site.
Then after those will be inputting the art and the ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) scenes for those maps respectively, then debugging, then release of v0.2 (at last.)
I hope I can finish all of this this week cuz I really want to release the next version for you guys.
