Note:  Artwork from previous polls are coming.  There's been a bit of a hiccup about it.  Don't worry.

All submissions should follow the following three requirements:

• Should be "Safe for Work" (ie: No nudity)
• Should be relatively simple in concept and execution (Please do not request large scale concepts!  They should feature one, maybe two characters)
• Should adhere to the lore of the game.

The final point might be an issue for some, I know.  Not everyone knows the lore in full.  This is why a week is required for the submission process.  If an idea doesn't work or needs tweaking, I am very glad to consult and help get you to a request you want to put forward.

The submission period will last one week, then voting will last 4 days, where all eligible Patrons will vote on the submitted ideas.  The winner's gets turned into artwork.

If your idea doesn't win, there is nothing stopping you from resubmitting it next month.

There is no limit at the moment for how many months an individual's ideas can win.  However, this may be changed if a single Patron overwhelmingly dominates the polls each month.  That will be addressed only if it needs to be.

Beyond the Pale Q&A for September

You can find the answers on the blog.  This is done to prevent clutter on the Patreon page.

Patreon Wizard Reward: Augusts

At the lowest rank, angels are all very similar.  They exist as beings of living metal and stone, their soul within suffused with light.  As you go up the hierarchy the angels become entities of fire, sound or space itself and encased in increasingly ornate bodies meant to contain these grander souls.

Thank you all for their continued support.  Progress is going at a steady rate and hopefully mechanics are going to be ready for testing soon!  Thank you for being so patient.

Patreon Wizard Reward: June

Thank you to Arthur, who submitted the winning idea for June!  Apologies for the delay on this one, there was a lot to get right in it and both myself and the artist wanted to make sure it turned out well!

Wardens act as a sort of amalgam of mercenary, unofficial law enforcement and independent investigators who must must justify their continued existence (and protecting of humanity) through a combination of shrewd politicking and unyielding grit.

It’s not uncommon for wardens to go out into the city wielding a combination of mundane and magical weaponry, clad in both conventional body armor and enchanted plainclothes to walk the line between unsuspecting humanity and the surreal, often dangerous, world of the supernatural.

Thank you all for their continued support.  Without you, none of this would be possible.  I genuinely cannot express how much it means to me that you've helped the project get this far.

Delay and Participation

Hello everyone.  Just providing an update.

There was an issue with a Patron's payment so I wanted to make sure everything was properly done before the rewards are set up.  That's done and the rewards are going up tomorrow.

Additionally, I'm making this post to inquire about participation.  Two big rewards are the Warden and Wizard tiers (29 and 21 Patrons respectively) and, usually, each reward only gets between 2 and 5 Patrons interacting with them.

There's no pressure for anyone to actually participate but I do want to say that because of your support you're entitled and encouraged to participate in the rewards you've earned.  I just want to make sure everyone gets their money's worth.

If you don't want to participate that's understandable.  I just want to make sure everyone knows the option is available.

Thank you for your time and your support.  Work is progressing and I'm looking forward to showing everyone what I have.

Warden AMA: July 2021

Warden AMA

In an effort to provide better rewards for Patrons, all Warden and higher supporters will be able to ask a question once per month about anything in the project.

These questions will be compiled and each will be publicly answered both here and on the blog.

This is only starting off at once per month.  In the future the frequency of these AMA's may change to multiple times per month.  Additionally, as the project progresses these AMA's may change format from blog posts to something like a video or stream, but that is yet to be decided.

The Warden AMA be posted tomorrow and will close by July 29th.  Future Warden AMAs will be posted early in each month and end near the end of the month.

Future rewards are still in the works.  Updates will come as more progress is made on them.

Concept Art: Ankou

The original concept for the Ankou didn't really change much.  There was always a plan to have a man in a suit and hat but what pose he was in was up in the air.  #2 was ultimately chosen but it was hard choosing between all three.

I know I said I was going to be setting stuff up last week and I haven't done it.

It's been a rough week and I haven't been able to do much of anything.  I will be doing better and putting up everything required soon.

Update

Hi everyone,

The artist is currently feeling a bit under the weather so the Wizard commission is going to be delayed.  The poll will still be held this month though for the next one.

In the meantime, I will be providing some new concept art and I hope to roll out a new reward for the Warden and higher tiers by the end of the month.

Patreon Wizard Reward: Long Overdue

This is a reward that was long overdue.  Unfortunately due to several issues at the time, it got lost in the shuffle.  It took a while but we finally got to it.  Sorry about the long delay.

Thank you to Echo, who submitted the winning idea!

Within the fae the highest position is that of a fairy queen.  Titania, Queen of the Summer Court, is one of those queens.  Her name was first put down by William Shakespeare, a man well known to the fae at the time.

Thank you for all your support!  Again, I apologize for the extensive delay for this piece, it was not intentional.  I hope you all enjoy it.

Concept Art: Kitsune

There weren't many resources available to find what a half-transformed werefox looks like.  The result was some fiddling with different ideas to create a face that was distinct from a werewolf, monstrous enough to get the idea across and with enough fox features to prelude the further transformation.

The bottom right is the combination of the others into the finished version.

Kitsune are fox werebeasts who can easily blend into human society, yet their curious and mischievous nature often gets the better of them.  Much like other werebeasts, kitsune struggle with their urges and instincts to contain the animal spirit within them.  If they can't, they may lose control and become a terrible, mindless monster.

Once again, thank you for all your support!  It's been one month since the first goal has been hit and I hope to continue putting out content for all of you!

Patreon Wizard Reward: March/April

Thank you to Dash4rd, who submitted the winning idea for one half of the double reward! 

A kumiho is a Dreamtime spirit that takes the form of a multitailed fox.  As the kumiho grows  older and more powerful it gains more tails up to a total of nine.  

Kumiho live off of strife and discontent so they will often interfere with the lives of humans; breaking up families, destroying property, murdering the young and old alike and disturbing graves.  To better achieve these goals the kumiho can take human form to blend in and get closer to their targets.

Concept Art: Muse

The Muse went through several iterations until it was finalized.

Here you can see the general development of the creature, starting with a fully formed face and progressively losing features until it was settled on the rightmost design.  We went with the right  because a Muse can adopt any appearance that suits its host, meaning a more vague baseline would cement the idea that a Muse has no inherent look, that they are reliant for others for their appearance.
