New Caledonian Araucarias (Patrons-only video)
Apologies if you wrote me a message on here and I don't write back. I don't have patreon set up on my little tablet I use that's got a physical keyboard on it. All I have is this tiny smartphone screen with a fake keyboard where I type with my thumbs. It's hell.
If you want to write me or reach out personally please email me at crimepaysbutbotanydoesnt@gmail.com,
Which is much more efficient and easier to respond to than patreon. Again, my apologies if I have not responded.

Here's a link to some free PDFs I've uploaded after Google removed a link to the drive I'd previously put up after somebody snitched on it for copyright infringement. Learning should be free, as it benefits the common good. I recommend starting with "Families of Flowering Plants", "Plant Systematics", & "Evolution - Making Sense of Life" by Carl Zimmer (look up what the difference between monophyletic vs. paraphyletic is, as it will open up a window on the world around you). Again, please...

I wanna say "thank you" to all of you for your support, and I apologize that I haven't updated the patreon page in a while - typing with my thumbs and the obligate correcting-auto-correct and deleting whatever silly-ass predictions it comes up with is a 7th layer of hell for me. That said, if there's anything you'd like me to a video on - say, an intro to flower morphology - please comment and let me know. Here's a Gastrolobium (Fabaceae) blooming at 3200' in the Stirling Range of SW Australi...

Took a guest on an ascent up to see a very rare and cryptic "fern" (actually a member of the Ophioglossaceae) last night at 9,000 feet on a dormant volcano in the Cascade Range. He insisted we turn back before nightfall, and I'm glad he did, because I would've kept going, hiking 1900 feet back down through volcanic boulders and thick brush on a steep slope. Some of the youngest rock in California here, only 240 years old (since it cooled to a solid state from a liquid one). We were not able t...

Hello everybody,
I should have CPBBD long-sleeved, white field shirts in in two weeks, with a brand new design by my talented friend, the professional sign-painter Ken Davis. I will be selling them for $35 dollars, but anybody who's donated to Patreon can get them for 5-10$ off depending, on how much you've pledged (just mention it in your order). For info on how to order, email me at crimepaysbutbotanydoesnt@gmail.com. I'll also include stickers and what the shit.
I am grateful for...
Thank you to all who have contributed so far. It means a lot to me and I greatly appreciate it, and I promise not to blow your hard-earned money on video poker, cocaine, frivolous and unnecessarily-loud motor vehicles, or firearms, as would be very nouveau riche and American of me. As it stands, I'm sober and guns bore me. Video poker, on the other hand, is one of the only soothing things in my life aside from the swift and repetitive kicks to the groin offered by The Crime Pays But Botany Do...

Hello All,
My aim is to educate and inspire people to learn about the "natural world" and be able to interpret it in their everyday life, before it is all snuffed out by the weight of the cold, wet turd we know as modern society and human civilization. By "natural world", I am simply referring to "the world as it existed for 4.6 billion years before humans started building freeways, slums, tacky McMansions and Dollar General stores over most of it, as well as killing each other over the pe...
