2nd Animated Short (because I don't know what to call it) (WIP)

After a short and much needed vacation, I have returned to work on the animations!

The full animation is still pretty early into keyframing since I left for vacation, but the shape-keys are finalized and these updated shaders showcased here can be re-purposed into the full animation as well! I wanted to avoid a smooth transition like the one used in 'Star of the Show'

I made the vein effect entirely in the Blender Shader Graphs! Using DALL-E 2, I generated textures to be used as vein textures, and did a bit of math magic to add it to the existing blue spread effect.

As for the title, I have no idea what to call it, so if you've got the perfect name in mind, feel free to comment it below! 

otherwise I might just stick with '2nd Animated Short'

Working on another simple animation (WIP)

Animation is taking a bit on the full transformation project so I took a small break from it and made a quick one! It's not done yet, but it's very close.

Since this and the rocking animations are pretty simple compared to a full clip with simulations and complex scenes, I like to figure out new techniques that would clutter larger projects, so this is showcasing my method of blue spread on the model. I'm still adjusting it and adding additional details. I would like to add a veiny look like the After Effects face test but it's a bit more involved in Blender, so it's taking a bit to figure out.

Berry Field Test Renders and Updated Shapes

I've been getting assets ready for animation, primarily the field and main character shapekeys, once those are done, I'll begin blocking out the animation!

Currently, the field is entirely generated with arrays and geometry nodes with models, it's a very modular and powerful setup while also retaining viewport performance and quality!

Appreciation Time!

Word's can't describe how genuinely amazing the support for the animation and my Patreon has been from everyone the past week, it's amazing, thank you all so much for supporting my CG berry endeavours!

From pledging to sharing and enjoying my content, thank you for everything! I can't wait to continue making animations and pictures for you all!
Because of this support, especially from the recent 2 animations, I'm going to focus on making more animated content! CG is an incredible tool for stills, but it's time to start utilizing it for animation.
I'm not going to share too many details on the next one yet because it's still in extremely early development, even if there were details to share, but I'm aiming for making a full transformation animation rather than a partial animation! I have the tools and knowledge to do the first part, the second part is the next hurdle to tackle and I'm excited to show you what I can do!

Thank you all again for the support, especially as I begin working on the next animation, I wouldn't have imagined my little cg berry pictures from 2020 would turn into this, thank you thank you thank you!!

Star of the Show Animation (WIP)

It's nearly done!! There's still a few hiccups in the animation around the legs as she expands, but that's an easy fix!

Currently, all that needs to be done is finishing the audience layer, and rendering out the cloth and audience layers!

I also need to fix the issues with the volumetric layer, which is why it's invisible until the later half of the animation

This was a very difficult and technical animation, and I hope you all enjoy the final product here soon!

Update on the Animation

Hello! It's been a second since the last animation update, and it should have been released by now, but I have some updates on the animation.

Don't worry, it's still coming very soon, I've just run into a couple hiccups during this week and I've been getting the issues resolved, and it's pushed it a little further back than I initially intended.

All the animation is done for the blueberry character, I'm still finishing up animations for the audience on the couch! But the primary issue I've been having is the cloth simulation. The past week, I've been trying to get the cloth simulation in marvelous designer to play nice with my model and animation as some parts of the cloth would stick to parts of the model that it isn't supposed to, ruining the simulation. I've made significant progress on that though, and I'm currently working on getting the final cloth simulation done. The attached photo is the final costume! and what might be cause for immediate and long-lasting pain as a 1-2 hour simulation is just flushed down the toilet, or just the program thinking especially hard on calculating the next frame.

Other than that, the only issue I've been having recently is MD is crashing constantly during the simulations, so I've just been re-simulating and re-simulating the past 2 days until it can finally finish a simulation without crashing. 

Once that's done, I just need to render out the audience layer and the blueberry's layer, then I can get it edited, add sound, and get it out there! Thanks for your patience, and I hope you're ready for some blueberries :)

Lots of Updates + 'Swelling For Science' (WIP)

I'd like to begin by saying thank you for your patience as the last 2 months have seen less content than myself and you might have hoped for. The fact of the matter is I've been dealing with a lot of stressers in my life, and my mental health has taken a decline. Truthfully, finding the motivation to keep working the past few months has been difficult for me.

However, I'm in a better mental space now thanks to the support of my friends and family, and I'm continuing to improve.

It's still hard to find that motivation sometimes, but knowing that you all support me and my wild endeavors, it genuinely helps to drive me to create again

Thank you all for your patience, it really means a lot to me, and I can't thank you enough for supporting me

Soon, I'll be releasing some of my models for everyone, beginning with the body model used in 'Blueberry Fidelity', as soon as I reduce its ludicrous file size (1.01gb). It doesn't come with the human side of the model, like the head, hands, or feet, just the spherical model, shaders, and the high resolution normal maps used for the cloth creases and skin. But it should be more than enough for you to import your own assets to use in your own renders!

I've also been messing with forms of After Effects expansions too, similar to my older gifs, and blending in elements of CGI as well. The second image is a preview of one of the experiments. It's not my first attempt at blending CGI into real world images, but it's one of my more ambitious ones, as rough as it is. An animated version can be viewed here: https://imgur.com/gq7BTDL 

As for the VR Project, in actual gameplay, in full honesty, it's a disappointment. You watch the body that roughly matches where your real body would be swell slowly, all the while, you have full control over your real body, where you can move your hands and body into places where the inflated body just can't, even if you lock the model from moving. It just doesn't feel or look good.

It doesn't mean the project is dead, but I may scrap the first person perspective and just focus on building a scene where you can watch a person expand that you can move around and view, similar to Virt-A-Mate, but with my models and polish instead. I already have a scene where you can view the model, but it lacks animation and only swells.

This is the current model in the project! 

And the environment used in the first picture is one of the game-ready assets currently in the project too!

Upcoming Expansion PC & VR Experience

Sorry about the long wait on content! I do have some good news though!

Over the past 2 weeks after releasing the basic Passthrough experience on Quest, I've been messing with making an interactive expansion experience in Unity. Currently, the primary functions like IK expandable body (for VR) and environment are mostly integrated. It's still very buggy, and needs polishing before I release the alpha, as the current expanding model doesn't play nice with the IK Rig, and as soon as I can get the model reliably expanding with a VR IK Rig, the Alpha will launch.

However, I've also been looking at Unreal to develop the project as the engine is much more graphically capable not only on PC but on Quest as well, with much less fine-tuning (I might be wrong)

Simple Oculus Quest Passthrough Experiment

I made a simple Passthrough application with Unity and Oculus' VR integration. It's very barebones, but lets you have a blueberry body (no human yet) in Mixed Reality thanks to Oculus' Passthrough API.

You'll need SideQuest or the Android Developer Tools, and an Oculus Quest with Developer Mode enabled to sideload this onto your headset.
