So, who's this new girl in town? Well, there's a few fun facts I can tell about her without spoiling her identity.
"She's the tallest and the oldest among all the main girls."
Yup. She took Bailey's crown as both tallest and oldest, and the height difference between her and Tiffany is just *huge*.
"She's has the second smallest bust size among the main girls."
This is probably the only 'first place' Tiffany isn't proud of. With Tiffany having the smallest, our new girl ranks second place in that category.

Hey! I know it's been a while since my last post. Real life has caught up with me, and my laptop dying really messed up my schedule, but now I'm back on track!
First and foremost, updates. The best I can give right now is Chapter 1's rework release date, which is on September 30. It's done and I'm just polishing some animations I'm not satisfied with yet, as well as post-rendering a few images manually through photoshop. I've also rewritten a few parts and renumbered the renders, so this date will give me time to iron out some kinks.
It'll also feature out the new menu and a preview on the next upcoming part of the game, "The Assistant", which will be released on sometime in October. The Arson Betrayal, Act II - Chapter 1 will be released on late October or early November as well, so stay tuned!
Lastly, our Public, Patron, and Discord Polls will end on September 25 (about four days to go!) so cast your votes.
So to summarize (for our TLDR peeps out there):
September 25, 2022 - Last Day of Polls
September 30, 2022 - Chapter 1 Rework Release
October 2022 - "The Assistant"
Late October or November 2022 - The Arson Betrayal, Act II - Chapter 1

I have both some good news and bad news... So let's get the bad outta here first.
BAD NEWS
My old laptop's motherboard finally gave in. It's not a secret that I've been working at the game using a ̶t̶o̶a̶s̶t̶e̶r̶ potato. Had the SDD checked and so far all my data is still intact (and yes, The Arson Betrayal's files are all safe). Now that my laptop's dead as a brick, all work will be put to a halt for a few days... Although I'll still try my best to deliver according to the release dates.
GOOD NEWS
I've been considering buying a new computer to work with what I earn recently, and here comes the good news: I'll be buying one with more oompf~, and with it, I can render faster and better with a more modern GPU and bigger RAM.
To say the least, you all helped contributing in keeping the game alive, both literally and figuratively. My utmost thanks goes to you all.

Like Version 0.4.5 back then, I've decided to release the Chapter 1 rework ahead of time, along with a few scenes in Chapter 2. Dates are to be announced.
This is mostly to track down any possible game breaking problems caused by the script changes.

While Act II - Chapter 1 is well on the way, I'd like to begin this developer's log with the rework plan.
As of today, the rework for the prologue and chapter 1 are complete. Story-wise, it also fleshes out Bailey's character more and improves our interactions with Jessica, both solidifying their characters throughout the story. Of course, players can skip this and continue using their old saves, but why miss out on better character development, right? I've also made a few additions to Jessica's café scene in Chapter 1.
Chapter 2 and 3's rework are in-development as we speak. Said reworks will feature longer and better-animated scenes, more dialogue and lines, and other moments with some of our characters. Still, Act II's Chapter 1 will still take priority over these.
The Act II Interval Chapter, "The Assistant" is almost halfway finished as well, and despite being skippable content, some decisions in it will have an effect on the main game if you wish to play through it.
The main menu has also undergone a redesign. Clicking "Play" will now take you to an 'Episode select' of some kind, where you can choose whether to play (or replay) The Arson Betrayal's main story or to play side stories like the upcoming Act II Interval. Just a minor thing in case y'all start to wonder if it'll be released separately or included in the game itself.
For the game's file size, I'm currently working on optimizing the game's size as much as I can without sacrificing quality, especially for our Android ports. The main reason for this is that we've recently hit the 1GB mark for the port on the last update. Without optimizations, we might hit the 2GB mark before the conclusion of Act II (hitting the 2GB mark causes installation errors on some Android devices).
Last, but not least, update releases. If my schedule is to be believed, the rework for Chapter 1 as well as "The Assistant" will both be released sometime between the end of August or early September. Act II - Chapter 1 will be released by the end of September or early October if no problems arise. These dates are still tentative, but it's the best I can give for now at the speed I'm working on at the moment.

I'll be honest, the reason for the new banner change is because of one simple reason: We've hit our first goal and reached more than 25 patrons! I'd like to thank you all for your support.
A new banner was made previously, and along with it, six (6) individual images featuring each of the girls in there... natural environment.
It's been approximately seven (7) months since development for the game began, and we've come far since. Our Discord community's growing too, so if you ain't part of it yet, come join us and chat (or just shitpost) to your heart's content.

And there you have it! Chapter 5 was the longest update The Arson Betrayal has ever had.
With the conclusion of Act I, I'll be announcing in this Dev. Log what to expect in the upcoming months of development.
First off, the reworking of some scenes of the earlier chapters. Aside from improved visuals, I'll be revamping the dialogue a little bit, and maybe adding a scene or two as well. I've been thrown off by how the earlier chapters were inconsistent regarding the writing, and the scenes were... awful. Some characters were too shiny, and some scenes were too dark. I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I've certainly improved in creating better 'dark' scenes and better lighting. So expect a rework to be released anytime this August (probably before the month ends).
Next, we have the Interlude for Act II. I've mentioned previously that it'll be a short side-story and based on my current planning phase, it'll be as short as Chapter 1, in regards to length. I won't spoil too much about it, but it'll tie up a few questions about the plot before we move further into the story, and it'll introduce a character that I hope you'll all come to love.
It'll be a separate game, and it might be connected to The Arson Betrayal itself, but it's certainly something you can miss out on and you probably won't miss anything out. What will the story be about?
"Set 48 hours before the events of The Arson Betrayal, you'll be in the shoes of Doctor Ward, a newly-assigned assistant researcher in Ablesmith's Institute of Health and Experimental Medicine. Reunited with an old friend and working closely with a handful of colleagues, you'll be part of the most ambitious experiment in history."
Seems we'll have a short-haired waifu, huh?
Lastly, regarding the first chapter of Act II, development usually takes three (3) to four (4) months.
The update would probably be released somewhere in October, more or less.
