Dragon 7 Chapter 5

The man with the audacity to wait on top of my car wasn’t Director Norton.

As I got closer, the man stood up and shook out his sleeves with a grin on his face. He was Hispanic and flicked a cigarette butt to the ground. “Zach Pendragon, the Dragon King.” His mocking tone told me it had nothing to do with my real use of that title.

“Going to introduce yourself?” I frowned at the man and expected a badge to flip out.

“Agent Lopez. I got here a little late, but did ...

Dragon 7 Chapter 4

I parked the sports car. “Okay, this is the place.”

“Your care is not inconspicuous at all.” Scarlett crossed her arms in the passenger seat.

“It isn’t that expensive of a car.” Jadelyn emphasized the word ‘that’. “Besides, who is going to think the guy in a Maserati is spying on them?”

Scarlett frowned but leaned her seat back. “So, we are just watching this guy?”

“Yeah.” I reached into the backseat, where Jadelyn was holding the duffel b...

Dragon 7 Chapter 3

After Till left, I began working on Silverwing Mercenary’s paperwork again. Pixie had gone off to get help from the wild nymphs, and silence surrounded me for one of the first times in a while as I sat behind my big oak desk.

Knock.

A head of platinum blonde hair poked through the doorway, followed by the beautiful face of my second wife, Jadelyn Scalewright. “What are you doing?”

“Finances.” I grumbled, thoroughly tortured by this process already. Morgana kept ter...

Dragon 7 Chapter 2

Pixie was moving around my office, seemingly ordering and reordering everything endlessly. She had on a pair of glasses on at the moment, but I was sure she didn’t need them. She was just playing a part.

I had a stack of finance documents, my half according to Morgana, to look through.

“When are the agents getting here?” I asked Pixie.

She checked her watch. “They should be here soon. If you aren’t going to dive back into those, mind if I talk to you about somethin...

Dragon 7 Chapter 1

It was time to head back and leave Summer’s mansion, and the group around me was excitedly whispering back and forth. There was some surprise for me that had them nearly bursting.

Even Summer herself had walked over to the portal with us.

I was anxious as she drew closer to the portal. She was part of what kept the tamed section of the faerie stable.

With her in her prime right now, she shouldn’t really be leaving the faerie.

“I still don’t get what the big dea...

Hey everyone,

Things are going well. SSV4 was a bit of a monster, I think it’s the second largest book I’ve written and I haven’t written one this long since I started doing monthly releases, so it feels good to have really hit the words this last month.

Miles’s problems are starting to run a little thin and with the things he can do, it’s becoming increasingly hard to challenge him. Someone suggested bringing an intergalactic or interplanar threat. I feel like those are...

SSV4 Chapter 39 END

Cerby slept on my lap as we sat deep in Obsidian’s lair. Obsidian had put in a new floor, and we were currently enjoying it.

It was the perfect lounging area with several large sectional couches and a big movie screen on one end. And it was finished off with a bar in the back.

“So, you didn’t tell me you had a movie room?” I raised an eyebrow as Obby came in with Sibi in tow, carrying a briefcase. For some reason, Sidi seemed to be following Obby around quite closely ever ...

SSV 4 Chapter 38 - Rewrite

I thought on it, and denying you a satisfying end to Roach was not in line with the type of story SSV is. 39 tomorrow.

Checking again, I locked down the form I could feel and pushed on their powers. Sure enough, another Roach flickered into being and looked up at us while he licked his lips. “I see you’ve brought some new toys for me.” His powers greedily sucked ki back into themselv...

Please wait, rewrite pending.

I rewrote the ending to SSV4 a few times. Going to do it again. I think I understand what my problem and I'm going to take another shot at it here.

Checking again, I locked down the form I could feel and pushed on their powers. Sure enough, another Roach flickered into being and looked up at us while he licked his lips. “I see you’ve brought some new toys for me.” His powers greedily sucked ki back into themselves.

But the ball of fire in her hand erupted into a blazing inferno t...

SSV 4 Chapter 37

“What do you mean there are three Roaches?” Kim hissed. “How are there three?”

Dragon cranes continued to attack the military caravan, swooping in and picking off women around us while they tried to get the trucks moving over the roughly cleared wilds.

Pratt had ordered the line forward, and there was some progress, but it was slow.

“Each of those hooded figures has over a dozen powers, and they all look like Roach. So, we have a problem. He has way too many powers...

SSV4 Chapter 36

We paused by the lake, hoping to meet up with Daeva.

Pratt was still a ways away, and we were well clear of the city.

There wasn’t as much need to hide, so I chopped down large trees and made the mother of all bonfires. It would keep us warm and help Daeva to find us.

The Obsidians had retracted to just the main three that had come with Prime after realizing I was going to carry the trucks the whole way.

“Anything fun you found in the trucks?” I asked.

“N...

SSV4 Chapter 35

I had to make two more stops before the infestation in Point City was cleared, leaving Pratt and Roach as my last two targets.

I let out a breath. It was gruesome work, but it had to be done.

Rather than throw my consciousness again and reform the body, I flew through the air towards the BSH, landing on the steps. The building felt foreign to me rather than returning to a job that I’d left almost two weeks ago. I’d changed quite a bit during my time in New Haven.

The doo...

SSV4 Chapter 34

The cloud of death peeled back from Point City, and where it had spread was suddenly silent. All life had been smothered by the Fenris Wolf.

As the cloud pushed back, the scarred face of the Fenris Wolf appeared and it snarled at me.

Then its howl shifted slightly, and the dead city began to come back to life, only in the most terrifying way as people stood up like marionettes with their strings plucked.

The titan dove back into the ground.

“Oh hell.” That’s what...

SSV 4 Chapter 33

The next several days, we spent our time rebuilding homes by day and resting together at night.

Stella had become determined, and I wasn’t holding back as she often rode me into the wee hours of the morning with a giddy smile.

Most of the city had come back together, and Cerby was still asleep. The Fenris Wolf had yet to reappear.

I was currently digging out Skel’s lab, which had sunk into the ground, likely a collapsed tunnel underneath.

“Don’t worry. That Mon...

SSV4 Chapter 32

The side of the city where I’d been fighting the titan was clear; the presence of such a terrifying monster had caused any townspeople to quickly try to move away.

I raked my power outside the city, smashing and crushing the forest along with the monsters present.

There was no need to hold back at that point. It was a fight to save the city.

Monsters flew above the city, and I focused on each of them in turn, popping them like grapes.

“Master!” Stella flew up to ...

My frustration formed into a plan, and I reached into New Haven with my power. I grasped around the temple for my ladies and found them standing and talking.

All of them were jerked to me in a shell of kinetic energy to protect them.

Stella blinked at me. “Master!”

“Not now. I need you girls to hunt the city. Someone hid the Fenris Wolf’s puppy within the city.” I glared at Stella as she batted her eyelashes, not taking the situation seriously at all.

SSV 4 Chapter 30

Inside the home, there was one more man who was shoulder deep in an old speaker, working on it with only a single candle lighting the space.

I froze him and pulled him out of the room. “Daeva, there was someone who used speakers to draw monsters to Point City. You called them ‘The Piper’?”

The man struggled in my power but I held a tight vice on him.

“Yes. A man whose power could attract or repel most animals, including monsters.” Daeva remembered. “In the earl...

SSV 4 Chapter 29

I was flying over New Haven with Daeva, keeping my power extended to see the world in a grayscale.

Daeva had good vision, but it wasn’t great in the dark.

New Haven was darker than the nights in the city; there were no lights for miles. Everything depended on the moon for light, and it was only a thin crescent in the sky as I carried Daeva through the air.

“So, you think that Roach is getting around at night?” She asked me.

“Something like that. It seemed odd t...

SSV 4 Chapter 28

Getting out of the manor proved harder than I’d been expecting.

Kim had clung to me, throwing everything she had at me to get me to stay. The desperate super was very unlike the director that I’d come to know.

In the end, I hadn’t brought anyone from Point City to help in the hunt for Roach. If he started to realize that Point City BSH and the gods of New Haven were working together, I feared it would spook him and we’d never find him if he hid himself in the wilds.

AN - So much fun to see you all squirm about what his new power might be. :)

I walked out of Obsidian’s ‘play room’. The Obsidian at the desk watched me with shock.

“Do I need to help any of them?” She asked with a strange mix of concern and arousal.

“No, they are fine. Just exhausted.” My mind was too active for me to even think about sleep. I wasn’t sure how I’d manage to ever sleep, but that was a problem for another time.

I set the invisible carriage down in the loading bay of Obsidian’s lair.

Mona had known where I was going and as I entered, I dropped the invisibility for a dark void color and watched as my gathered ladies all became more animated.

Emma was trying to pretend to be casual as she leaned against a crate yawning, but her cat ears perked up out of her ruby red hair, giving her excitement away. My previous mentor had come for me as soon as she was out of prison.

I shot back to the temple, wanting to talk with Daeva about her guards.

Daeva was frowning in front of her statue when I arrived. The warm morning light washed through the columns, breaking up the interior of the temple. Both mine and her statues were well lit with a shadow between us. And she was standing in that shadow as she watched the statues. Her face was pinched in a frown.

“Problem?” I asked, setting myself down.

I woke up early and the three ladies were still fast asleep, curled up in bed with me.

Well, two of them were curled up. Stella was stuck to me like glue.

Gently using my power, I pried her off. It wasn’t easy; I had to work my power under her fingers and move her over so that she could latch onto Melody.

My succubus peeked her eyes open at me for a moment before cuddling back in on Melody.

That girl was trouble.

Pollen was still clinging to me as I landed at Skel’s lab and walked inside.

The skeletal woman barely even glanced up from an old laptop she was hunched over, staring intently at the screen.

It took a moment before I realized she had a second set of hands that was doing the typing while she was leaning forward on the other set, watching the screen.

“That’s it, my fated.” Mona had me in a karaoke booth, grinding on me.

I was still trying to get her to sing for me. She wouldn’t even do it in my dreams, which was where we currently sat.

But I also knew better than to push her or try to force it. Singing had been part of what had tainted relationships with those she trusted as a child. I could wait until she was fully ready and healed those parts of herself.

Mona flinched and the dream shattered.
