Surprise, patrons! We have another sponsored series for you! Hearts of Iron IV (by Paradox Interactive) asked us to take another look at World War II, this time from a strategic overview. The economic and political underpinnings of war fascinate us to no end, so we were glad to oblige!
As before, this will be a bonus series that does not interrupt the regular Saturday episodes. There are no patron rewards (read: early access) associated with it, but you will be getting an extra episode of ...

Once again, Hungary calls to Suleiman: it's his best chance at western Europe. But the opposition's grown fierce.
Earlier Post: Check, check! Is this thing on?
Hi, folks! Soraya here. I'm stuck in an airport and I have managed to lose my laptop (my phone says hi!), but like the US Postal Service I have a delivery to make and I will not be stopped from making it.
Here is your early access! It may not have the usual YouTube bell...

Though it only lasted 12 days, the Battle of Kursk was the largest tank battle ever. And it turned the tide of World War II.

Pull up a chair and heat up your tea - it's time for another Extra History Q&A!
We'd love to talk with you about the current Suleiman the Magnificent or Battle of Kursk series, but all your history questions are fair game! And yes, asking what class we think Suleiman would play in D&D counts as a history question. Come hang out, have fun, and talk history!

The way lies open. Hungary and Rhodes - those thorns in Suleiman's side - stand alone. His army is ready.

We've reduced the pledge amounts for the Q&A (now $8), the Topic Suggestion (now $10), and the Sponsorship (now $50) rewards!
We've long wanted to make those rewards more accessible. We'd love it if, for example, someone who is really interested in Suleiman the Magnificent could upgrade their pledge and join the Q&A just for the months that he's the featured topic. And now that the entry bar has been lowered, we hope that's more of a realistic possibility!

Suleiman ascends the throne of the Ottoman Empire. He wants to be benevolent, but he must prove that he is no pushover.

Since the very first Q&A we held on Patreon, we've been hearing one request over and over: would we ever consider doing a show about myths and legends? And the answer was always "Well, that would be fun, but not right now..."
But we have been considering it - in fact, we've been wanting to do it! So today we're happy to introduce our new $16,000 milestone: 4 Episodes of Extra Mythology.
To be clear, this will be a one-off set of episodes. It will NOT be the launch of a re...

Suleiman the Magnificent stands on the banks of the Bosphorus, lost in thought. He wrote laws, won wars, and forged an empire. Listen closely to his theme, and you will hear the echoes of Justinian's Hymn, the Incarnation: two men a thousand years apart, who ruled the same city, and walked the same paths.

Well, it's certainly been an eventful weekend! On top of the SUPER CLOSE topic vote (for which the Gracchi Brothers probably stuffed the ballot box), we also hit our $13,000 milestone! You all are amazing.
And you know what that means: art pages! From now on, each series will come with an additional piece of hi-res art for you to download, set as your desktop/phone background, or print so you can have a poster! This will begin with the Suleiman the Great episode (and sorry, but i...

We've had some close votes before, but this was truly the closest vote we've ever seen. It came down to exactly ONE vote to break the tie and see the Brothers Gracchi surge from second place to first at the closing minutes of the poll. Heck, even 3rd/4th place was decided by a difference of three votes!

Do you recognize the instrument in this picture? Or the musician, for that matter? That's our very own Dean Kiner, practicing the oud which will be featured in the upcoming theme for our Suleiman the Great series.
Our Suleiman series begins on March 12 (that's next week) and we couldn't be more excited! Oh, and don't worry - we'll post the music for you to enjoy soon!
