Smiles, sunlight and freckles

One of those days when we don't plan to shoot, just talk and get some project details together but sun comes knocking on the window and i can't help it. No make up, no hair work, doesn't get more natural than her freckles and smile, no editing needed. 30 second pics with the see through top, quickly changing to the sportswear and done for the day.

So, again a video where you can see exactly what i see when i work. 2pm, very hot direct sunlight and one minute for the pics. Not much to be done from my side when someone is so beautiful, experienced and inspiring as her. 

Unseen desert editorial in California

never before published editorial shot in the desert in california. I have used this location few times and still love it. Red Rock Canyon, probably around 4h drive from Los Angeles. Challenging when it comes to the hot temperatures (this was shot in the morning so i'd say around 39C) and a lot of walking in the sand but totally worth it. 

Improvising in Milan

This was really not planned or expected. Walking around Milan I saw my friend and we did something super quick, using the bridge/stairs where we met, then moving to a little park nearby and ending up at the apartment for a more intimate set. Even if 90% of my time i work with moodboards, all strictly calculated and planned... there is something magic about working "guerilla style" and just going for it with less brain and more heart.

Decided this time to record what i actually see from the viewfinder while shooting. This is exactly how it feels.

Studio session after a very long time...

We planned this session for over a year. we meant to meet in Bali but couldnt, then we planned mexico but got cancelled, then sweden, bali again... so we could manage to be in barcelona at the same time for a couple hours and found a studio. working with someone after so long planning is such a weird feeling, you expect and visualize a lot of things in advance... with her was so so so easy, so organic and natural, everything flowing without even trying. <3

Melanie to end 2021 the best way possible

It's been a challenging year. Moved to Barcelona after 13 years just moving around the world without a home... Had my ig account attacked and closed by a psyco, work went up and down... But I also had very high moments with the people that surround me. And of course having Melanie around for pics, for suport and to keep me inspired made the year easier.

I will share some of this images on social media to end the year or celebrate the new one.. But here the full set right now.

Los Angeles mansion full editorial

When you have one of the coolest locations in California and 45min to shoot an editorial. We tried to maximize the time... working inside the bedroom (even if i'm not a big fan of shooting beds), pool area, livingroom from the top floor and terrace. found a water point so decided to connect a hose and spray water on her for the last pics with the rain effect.

Shooting portraits is always a challenging thing to do. Capturing personality and making sure you get on camera not only how the model looks like but also who she is... with her... easiest thing ever.

Here is a collection of frames shot at the studio with one of the easiest models I ever found in Barcelona. As you can see on the Behind the scences video on separate post, her body definition and the softness / intensity of her movements made my life very very easy. 

Anna in South Africa

direct harsh light and exploring. 

i remember this shoot very well. due to miscommunication between agency and model she was told i would have a stylist ready when i was expecting her to bring the 10 looks i had in mind. so she showed up with jeans and a tshirt ... and nothing else. 

we ended up using a piece of black fabric from my background to design a tank-top, and a black t-shirt from the make up artist. sometimes you just have to adapt. :)

It's always a blessing when sunlight decides to come through the windows at the studio. allows to just play some music, get the right mood and capture in a minute from portraits to body language. of course even better when someone has such an amazing look and has such a well defined beautiful face and body.

it's always a bit challenging to create a set when you have no accessories, no background, no items to play with... but there is some kind of beauty attached to the simplicity of someone doing soft body work and no distractions.

BTS video... one of the rare ocassions I use flash in studio

The way she moves is something soooo beautiful, you can't help but let her do. Continuous light was not available at the studio (no LED lights, no sunlight) so I had to go ahead and work with flashes (which i really dislike). 

often i get asked why (most photographers work with flash)... well... models then know perfectly well when you click and often go into "work mode", pose after pose after pose instead of flowing. Thanks to Erika that understands perfectly that for me images ar...
