New Milk & Cheese pinup now available for bids on eBay.

This 9" x 12" piece began life as a false start for a commission. The layout pencils were pretty dark and I decided to start over on another sheet of paper rather than try erasing everything below the logo (which most likely would have turned the paper gray and re...

Good luck to those who try to snag them at 7 PM EST tonight.
From what I've been told there could be up to twice the number of figure sets available this time around. I know there's at least 50 successfully pulled so far. It can sometimes be hard to pull these two kicking and cursing out of the molds and sometimes something gets broken.

Raw inks. Will eventually be digitally cleaned up for the Dork #12 publication/PDF/whatever the heck.
Hopefully I didn't miss any fixes or typos.
Hope you enjoy the new comic.

You can tell by the call log (text above panel) that I started this comic early last year. Oof. I used to bat these things out (until I got meticulous, thanks, brain).
I keep WIP comics on one side of my drawing table along with the current cycle of WIP commissions. If the commissions hit a snag or the ink isn't dry on a section or I'm avoiding a difficult bit of drawing I'll pick a comic up and add a few pencil scribbles, lettering or ink lines to break things up and clear my hea...

Hey, gang. To my surprise 9and maybe yours), H&H has already announced the second drop for the resin Milk & cheese figure set. They'll go on sale this Friday, August 19th at 7 PM EST, at https://www.hhtoyco.com.
I've been told that the new drop should have 75-90 sets available. That's more than I expected and I hope the guy who's pulling the sets doesn't become lactose-intolerant after he's through.

I finished a pinup while working on commissions and decided to put it on eBay to see what happens. testing the market while considering what to price future commissions when the list opens up again later this year. It comes with the usual extras.
Auction listing is at: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255672402043
There's a couple of other listings on the off chance anyone's looking for Yokai Watch or Fish...

Not a hoax, but it is a dream!
A while back I shared the Riot! label here but the Jupiter Wine Company launch got held up and I had no idea what the status of the project and company was. Oddly enough, I made a note today to get in touch with Thomas DiBiase at JWC, and an hour later received an e-mail from him that their site was live, and the Riot! wine brand with our M&C label was now available for sale.
So, there is now a real glass bottle with alcoholic drinki...

Back at the drawing board after the very bad month of July checked us into the boards. One detail-heavy commission down and soon heading off to the U.K., a few nearly there, a bunch more to go.
Mea culpa.

Working for Nickelodeon Magazine/Nick Mag was one of my favorite freelancing gigs back in the day. We did a decent amount of work for the magazine over the course of its existence, over two dozen assignments ranging from gag panels to illustration to comics. Some of the comics were based on then-popular Nickelodeon characters such as Jimmy Neutron and The Fairly Oddparents, others were original comics which we owned the rights to after they were originally published. Owning the rights to the ...

I wanted everything in the Dork collection to be hand drawn like the comics themselves. Other than a few computer-derived text captions and some early ads and letters pages, eventually everything in Dork was hand drawn, including print information, the table of contents, letters pages and even a few fanzine reviews.
So, the introduction to the hardcover also had to be hand drawn. Although I didn't end up lettering the book's publishing information, which was something I thought ab...

Is this of interest? This is a list of all of the tv/animation-related gigs we've done, together or separately. It's part of a longer list of just about everything I/we've done in various media, as well as t-shirt and merchandise art and things like that. We used to be pretty damned busy back in the day.
I don't know how to format the comic book and magazine lists -- they're very extensive and very long lists -- but the other categories are pretty short, like this one, so I can dr...

In this installment of the ongoing WORLD'S FUNNEST retrospective, we'll take a look at the two-page "Earth X" sequence, which was illustrated by Frank Cho.
In 1956 DC/National Comics bought up a number of the titles and characters previously published by Everett M. "Busy" Arnold's Quality Comics, including Plastic Man, Kid Eternity, Blackhawk and a group of superheroes that would be brought together as The Freedom Fighters, who lived on an alternated Earth dubbed "Earth X"....

Raw inks. For print I'd be cleaning stuff up, shoring up the white ink lettering (one day I'll learn to drop in lettering, reverse the black letters to white-on-black, etc), remove any stray marks/dirt/flaking, etc. Lower the "Steve Ditko" line of text, edit "Here comes more Spider-Man movies" to "Here come more Spider-Man movies!" -- I was working off a previous idea of "Look out" running directly into that line, echoing the theme song from the 60's Spider-Man cartoon.
Bonus writ...

Hey, I just lost more than a half an hour's work on this post by accidentally closing the fucking window, I had too many tabs open looking for reference and links, and have too many dead fucking brain cells in my useless fucking head. For some reason the post wasn't autosaved as a draft, or I can't locate where it might be saved as a draft, because when they updated the site layout I lost my sense of where things are. I'm like that.

hey, folks. Sorry this is late notice for tonight's event, but I've been running around putting out life fires this past week and yesterday in particular was a seven-alarm goocher. I'm having full-on panic attacks and nightmares these days, so, I'm looking forward to some escapism, and I'll be talking about fictional horrors with some folks and we'll try to have some fun. Sound good? Good. Sounds lousy? No worries, attendance isn't required.

Every once in a while I search through my old LiveJournal account to jog my lousy memory, usually this is for a Patreon comic book industry story-type post. It's usually not very helpful, unfortunately. I typed a lot over the years there, slowing down and then stopping around 2018. I guess Twitter really helped put the last coffin nails in to the LJ for me (and others), the immediacy and the larger audience and all. And less typing, overall. Way less. I liked LJ overall, I had more energy to ...

I don't remember what the exact premise for the Fun Strip that this panel came from was. Something about bad ideas?
Well, I know I thought the strip itself was a bad idea, because I trashed it before finishing the art for it. But I saved this completed panel because it was just too stupid to lose. Thank goodness it was saved from the wrecking ball, am I right? Wouldn't want this little gem to go into the recycling bin.
Anyway, here you go, "Hanes jaunty Rompers"...

PRO TIP: Pencils (generally) don't have to be super-clean, so when your hands have not been on the best of speaking terms with your brain, go with pencils. Inks are less forgiving of shaky hands syndrome. Lettering is definitely a no-fly zone until things get back to normal.

If you're following me on Instagram you know that Sarah has had another setback in her cancer recovery. I took her in to memorial Sloan Kettering on the recommendation of her nurse, this is where she had her cancer surgery, treatment and program and they are continuing to monitor her and based on recent events it was seen as best that she be brought back in. We drove into Manhattan and she got a room in urgent care and they started a battery of tests, which will continue today. It's complicat...
