Something I found in my records while organizing the studio recently.
This is the statement of earning and expenditures for my first SLG Publishing comic, the Pirate Corp$! Special that kicked off the continuation of the series. The series had been canceled by Eternity Comics, and was picked up by Dan Vado/SLG the following year at San Diego Comic Con (maybe I'll tell that story later, it's cute). Much of the Special was intended to be issue #5 at Eternity, I did a new cover, and added ...

Sarah's been working to revive the original two-sided "Look Out! Here They Come!/There They Go!" t-shirt for our Teepublic site. Originally released by SLG Publishing, a revised version -- sans beer cans and upraised middle fingers -- was sold in a small number of Hot Topic stores to test market sales.
Unlike SLG comics like Johnny The Homicidal Maniac and Lenore, Milk & Cheese was never carried by Hot Topic. Dan Vado tried to get the chain to carry the series, but it was turn...

Well, that was a year.
Two projects fell into our laps in 2020 that helped make it a not-terrible year work-wise.
In 2019 Kurt Busiek brought us onto his Marvels: Snapshots project, with Sarah and I writing a one-shot Human Torch story. Benjamin Dewey was the artist, so we had the Beasts of Burden team, although we weren't able to fit Nate Piekos in as letterer because of deadline issues. Kurt basically plotted all the Snapshots and let the writers work out how to structure and wo...

Only one panel left to go to fulfill the October portion of the program.
Thinking I might start doing a few panels to set some things up and/or connect some of these images. There are now 71 panels and only a few revisit an image or character. Have to make some sense of it somewhere at some point. Even if it's dream logic. Or nightmare logic.
Some aspects of the "story" are becoming more solid in my mind and I have an overall theme in place to draw ideas and provide an...

Sarah found the art files for the last two t-shirts we put out with SLG Publishing back in the day. She dusted them off and revised them a bit and they're now available at our Teepublic shop on shirts, stickers and whatever the heck else they're available on.
Teepublic is currently running a site-wide 35%-off sale. Apparently they run these sales pretty often. Good to know.

My apologies for the relatively lengthy gap in posts. I've been catching up on some things while also catching up on some extra sleep.
Tonight I spent more time than I would have liked sending out a takedown notice to a tee-shirt site that swiped the new Milk & Cheese shirt. That's the sort of "invisible work" that has to get done and is a pain in the ass because you'd much rather be making stuff than dealing with stuff.
And it was a heavy week for me, for those of you w...

We now have two T-shirt designs available at Teepublic, the remastered Milk & Cheese "Gin" shirt, as well as the Devil Puppet shirt. Both designs are available on sweatshirts, hoodies, and long-sleeved T-shirts (among other styles) in multiple colors.
Here's the link if you'd like to check it out: http://tee.pub/lic/RnGU2pSlmHI
FYI: Teepublic is currently running a sale which will last another d...

One step closer to getting the revised Gin shirt done. The scanned inks has been sent over to Sarah's computer for her to clean up and color. Will update soon, I hope.
While I'm here -- thank you to everyone for sticking with me for another month. And thanks to the folks who have recently joined as backers. It's really appreciated. Hope you're all enjoying the posts.

The experiments have slowed down a little because of "life", but I've been putting time into the actual story that might connect most, if not all of these panels and images.
There is a definite theme in mind that I'm settled on. There's a few angles that I'm kicking around. The plot, or what will resemble a plot, is still hazy. I assume things would be largely episodic within a specific location, I have a few characters in place, and the panels obviously dictate certain events to ...

Unfortunately, there aren't many roughs or sketches in there. I mostly worked up PC$!/HP material through notes, I had the characters in my head and knew what the imagery would basically look like, give or take some design work done on the page.

For similar reasons, I don't have a lot of process stuff scanned and filed away on my computer. Everything was written, the visua...

Woke up to see that the new BLACK HAMMER series has been announced by Dark Horse Comics. Sarah and I provided a variant cover for the first issue, which is written by comedian Patton Oswalt (based on the Jeff Lemire/Dean Ormston superhero series). The second variant cover is by Gilbert Hernandez, so that's nice company to be in.
It's the first time a project I'm (very slightly) involved with has been announced by a mainstream source like Entertainment Weekly. Unfortunately, while the co...

I had a few inquiries this past week about pages that weren't on the patented/pathetic "text-only" House of Fun original art list, so I went ahead and updated the list.
There are about 40 new pages on the list, including every Eltingville Club (and Northwest Comix Collective) page available. Also added to the list are the last several pages from Dork #8 (Devil Puppet and the table of contents page), and the last of the Murder Family pages (priced at $200, but available at $175 w/free sh...

These cons were some of the most enjoyable I ever attended. They were small affairs-- taking place in the Ramapo High School gymnasium, put on by the school's enthusiastic comic club, attracting mostly locals and friends of the club. Sarah and I attended them pretty much up until Allan Rosenberg, the club director, moved to another school, where they continued afterward for a while (and we went to a few of those). A few years before that co-director Jay Horowitz had left the club, I think he ...

BILL AND TED ARE DOOMED #3 will be out in excellent comic shops tomorrow from Dark Horse. Cover by me and Sarah Dyer, variant cover by Veronica Fish, and interior art and everything by Roger Langridge.
This is probably my favorite issue of the series, I really love what Roger did here. There's also an Easter egg for fans of the old Marvel Bill and Ted series that we snuck in. Well, we didn't really sneak it in, really. But we weren't supposed to refer to the Marvel continuity, exc...

Holy smokes. I've been so scattered this past week or so that I didn't realize I had a finished Experiment panel sitting in the scanner for a few days. Yeesh.
Well, here it is. A few more for the belated October daily posts are almost finished. With 64 of these done so far I do think I need to make some decisions on linking a few more of them together. Too many images and I'll be pulled in too many directions. But who knows. There's no law that says I have to use them all together...

I'm finding some oddball old drawings and documents as I attempt to clean up the studio and all the files and the piles whenever I can take a break from my mansion and my yacht.
The flyer features my old character "Weenie" (clever, huh?
