i decided to use the render for the base color on this folio, because it is a lot easier and i can color correct as i go. i will definitely tone down those reds though

i am trying to design a harness for her "rider" to hold on as they fly.  

also i have been looking for replacements for LULU and E-junkie is one that looks the most promising at this time

i am currently working on commissions and face studies for Mar.  i found that without 3d i can easily draw women and non humans but the human face is VERY difficult.  with 3d i can do it but i usually talked myself out of studies ...because i am dumb. so i am doing some Mar studies to get more emotion and expression in my drawings of him

so i posed and rendered her out. i am kind of surprised it is turning out so well since i was really trying to get her modeled from scratch really quickly.  the only part i did not model myself was the torso.  now for some drawing

it took a while to rig her because the various parts are a bit polygon heavy so my computer took some time to auto weight it

i was going to make some very detailed texture maps BUUUUT..since i am just going to paint over it i decided just an indication of color would be best (also i wanted to get right into the rigging and posing)

i am still not liking the color i have for Vizzy so i am taking a break from that and trying something i have been wanting to try for  a while but keep talking myself out of.  building a drawing model from scratch.  i have seen a few artists build their models from multiple pieces before pose and rendering and i wanted to try that out.  i kept talking myself out of it because the model would not be "animation ready" but since i am not using it for animation why not just go...

hardware update

i am updating my 120GB main drive into a 1TB SSD drive but i have been having trouble and it has been taking all day.  so i will be a bit late on posts for today

vizzy progress

well after the experimental stuff i just spent the rest of the day working on this.  i had a few false starts with initial color choice but then i got into a groove.  and yes i know the colors need to be "toned down" a lot in the shadows ;P

Vizzt?! what happened to you!?

so  it tried my brush again by sketching Vizzy and WOW i went all over the place with the proportions. these kind of exaggerated proportions would work better with a toony style but not with this brush XD

 so i tried making a custom brush (i normally just use the basic hard round)  to see if i could get a more painterly look.  got the look but the proportions are off

so i was putting down the flat colors and just not "feeling" it it seemed to me that my pallet was too "muted" and not bright like i want.  

so i went online and looked up some illustrations that i felt had the color pallet i wanted.  i found a few and i am using them as reference for my color pallet especially on page 13 (seen above)

Nuuuuuu another busy day away from work.  just needing to get fire wood and groceries for the next comic cold spike, so only one page today

so i spent a lot of time today shopping for upgraded to my computer.

my main drive is currently a 120 GB SSD card i have had for 7 years and it only has 10GB left on it. so after LOTS of research i found a 1TB SSD card and all the information to "ghost" my current main drive onto the new one when it come in.  also my CPU heatsink is making a bit of noise and since i have had it for 7 years i went and ordered a new one (making absolutely sure i have one that fits my motherboard and ...

so i went back in and did some minor adjustments.  but i really want to get to the painting stage so some of the later ones are still a bit rough.

it's nice to look forward to the coloring process rather then feel intimidated by it

i did a design study for the guy too so i can have an on model reference as i fix and polish up the pages

i tweaked her paws to make them a touch smaller.  after a while i will post this on all my other sites to get more interest in my comics

so i still used the model for the basic sketch but then changed it drastically to fit what i wanted.

ok yes!  i like where this is going.  her breasts are a little stiff but i like where this is going. i will post another image where both the original model and this drawing are side by side

with the comic "tigress pounce" i was not happy with either characters overall design.  they both needed more "character" and expression. so i took the model i used for the tigress character and redrew over her using the model as only a very rough guide. i like these results
