This week I'm planning on releasing a follow up episode to our video on War Elephants by covering specific anti-elephant tactics were were developed over the years! This includes special elephantomachoi (elephant fighters) which were used at the battle of Pydna and Thapsus as well as the more dubious but exciting claim of the use of flaming pigs!

We just released another episode in our series on Law & Order in Ancient Rome. This episode looks specifically at the maintenance of the Pax Romana in the provinces. Its a subject that rarely gets talked about outside of large scale invasions or revolts and I am super happy to have once again been able to bring the experiences of the average person in the past to life!

We had a lot of requests recently to talk about disease and outbreaks in the ancient world. In response, our researcher Chris Das Deves dove into the history of the Antonine Plague to produce a script on the subject. Hope you enjoy this window into the parallels of the past.

As we begin to cover the history of Carthage, I have been working with an artist to generate a fantastic illustration for this ancient city! In these images you can see that stages which have been completed so far. Step 1: Planning the layout using a Google earth view reference. Step 2: Line drawing of the city details. Step 3: Shading.
By the end of the month we should be receiving the colorized version for review!

This past week we released a video talking about what made the Roman army so powerful and why other people didn't just copy it. It was a super fun exercise that I hope you got a lot out of. I'll be hoping to do more of these sorts of comparative analysis videos in the future. One future topic would be to talk about why the armies of Antiquity were so much larger than those of the Medieval Period.
Art for this episode will be coming soon.
