The Why of A Manual Lens

The beauty of a manual lens are to shot with to believe. I started using a manual lens to slow me down a little bit and also be able to get a true film like feel. I also wanted to choose my focus in addition to my frame.

The 23mmf1.4 was the first lens i bought but on a crop sensor it almost replicated a phone camera frame. Also it lacked the distortion that I would like if i want to use a wide angle.

I was on a holiday with some frens over the weekend. It was a short holiday, but I had spoken to Yuthe about a probable shoot for a long time. The only time available was really early morning, assuming my friends would be still up drinking or asleep completely drunk. 

She thankfully was enthusiastic about an early morning shoot, which required her to leave at 4am, pick me at 5 am and take me to a location she suggested by 6 am.

Today's world of Social Media, though may sound very exciting for creators, it truly is not the case. And for a country like India. it only is worse in our Print and Cinema Mediums. Anything with nudity and erotica is conveniently disallowed under the guise of censorship. Drinks after Dinner

with some muses, it is always very long hours of shooting, sometimes over night sometimes longer. the shoots are in breaks ofc and usually with more than one muse, so they all get a breather. we take burst of 10-15 mins to make some story and break and so on.... this was late into the night and out came the strobe.. sometimes you just can't have enough of each other...

I had the pleasure to shoot with an artist friend this weekend, during her brief stay in our country. We have been in touch for a while, and were aware of each other's work and wanting to create with each other was really a no no brainer. 

Apart from her being from a foreigner, we also broke a few more boundaries during our shoot, in terms of frames and stories which swayed from beautiful to brave. So I am calling this "No Boundaries"

My Sharing Process

So, even when I had started shooting in late 2018, I would always take a lot of pride in sharing my photographs with my collaborators within 2-3 days of the shoot. I feel, everyone is excited to see the results of something we have done, and making them wait endlessly is not fair. Even though, I always show my collaborators a lot of what is being shot during the shoot itself, on the camera LCD, still seeing it as a set is different. 

So a sharing process for almost all photographer...
