One Pic, Sick Week

Welp, it was a pretty slow week this week. I caught a rather nasty bug that took me out for most hours of the day. And so I was only able to make the energy to finish this one commish. I'm pretty happy with it!

And finally on the mend, so hopefully will have a lot more for next week. Especially since we're now just a month out from Sizecon! +w+

Blue Treats: pt 12 - 17

A new player enters the game! Sapphire joins Zoey in on the blue treats and giving a show for all those watching!

I'm enjoying this sequence, it's already ballooned into something a lot larger than I initially intended. And I've got more planned- to the extent I'm trying to decide if I should trim down on my intent- or just see where the winds take me...

So far, the daily comic drawing challenge is going pretty good! Because of the mentioned stresses, I can't tell if this is helping keeping me working or if it's distracting me from my work. I certainly feel better having seven pages to post this week- but it's also where a lot of my effort went. Hm-

Draws of the Week! Jan 11th!

Like a lot of people these days, I find myself in the grips of doom scrolling. I'm going to do my best to taper this bad habit. But it's not gonna be easy. That said, I did get some drawing done this week!

It's mostly stuff that made me smile or giggle while I was drawing it. I use art as stress relief and comfort, so- yeah. Extra goofy this week!

I don't have a ton of drawings this week, (I spent a couple days on vacation for New Years) But I got a few done! Lush- what do you mean Week 9? It's been weeks since you've done an official portfolio expansion!

That may be- but now I feel fully comfortable saying that this work here qualifies for my portfolio! In truth- a lot of what I've been working on would work- but- you know me. Perfectionist.

This sequence took quite a turn, a thematically consistent one! Interactivity lowered a bit towards the end there. But I think that it suited the direction that the story had gone- outside of range and all that.

Now, hopefully, some lessons were learned and won't repeat ever again... Oh who are we kidding? They're almost guaranteed to make the exact same mistake!

Lush's... Portfolio of the Week?

Gosh, it's another week where I'm not sure if it should count towards my portfolio project. I'm juggling so many things right now- that it's hard to actually say for sure or not if it's full time work on the portfolio.

BUT! I did finish these small paintings and start on a new huge group pic! So maybe it should count.

Sculpt My Body App! pt 9-15

The adventure continues! We're flying high through the air now! And that's... quite a perilous adventure indeed! Separated from the app and anyone who could rescue me... or... maybe not?

Here are the drawings of this week! I had to take a little extra commish work to make sure I was good for the new year. But I should be now! And it led to some quickies that I haven't done in a while (I'm really happy with the Karlach Cosplay)

It's hard to tell if this week's painting works should count for my Portfolio Project. Like- I think that maybe they could since I'm trying out new techniques and I'm using acrylic paint. But- part of me hesitates because they're gifts and because they're much smaller than my other paintings so far. So. . .

Sculpt My Body App - pt 1-8

They're coming up with all manners of funky ways to interact with one's viewers these days. And the Sculpt My Body app has quite the feature of letting viewers online apply any manner of changes to the synced user! How fun, I'm sure this will go lovely!

This is an interactive comic sequence going on over at Bluesky! I've been endeavoring to do an entry a day and last week was pretty smooth. The sequence very quickly developed and maintained a theme. So it's become filled with inflation....

Lush's Portfolio Expansion! Week 8!

I've finished up the mermaid shoreline painting- after comparing it to the other ocean paintings I've done- I'm actually pretty happy with how the water came out. Still more to learn- but- I like it!

And a more personal indulgent skull piece- I did this one to experiment more with more "extreme" colours. Since I think that I have a tendency towards more muted colours- I wanted to try working with the rainbow- and lots more black and white. I might revisit this idea as I keep practicing-...

Welp, it's that time of year again. I'm another year older! So I took a day off this week, but I still got some drawing done.

A bit more indulgence this week with a couple self insert drawings, a brainstorm for a leviathan based deep one mermaid, and some Cheryl shenanigans!

Lush's Portfolio Expansion Week 7!

It was slower this week for portfolio stuff. I finished up the Holiday Card as well as tried to break out the paints again. I want to paint more- I want to like- be experimenting much more freely and rapidly.

Perfectionism pokes through more often when I'm working with paints- not wanting to mix too much or too little paint. Wanting to get the textures right. And all that.

That said- I do think that this little "mermaid" piece is looking nice! Not as creepy as I initially intended...

Another weird week- still getting over that chest cold. But, I was able to draw more! I've been having more doubts again about my creative process- so I'm trying to work through those. All this second guessing is really annoying- so I'm trying to get my momentum and confidence in my artistic visions back.

As I said in my other post, I got sick again this week. So I did not get much done at all. That said- I am happy with the progress I got done on my latest digital illustration- which is a night scene I'm making for a holiday card. I'm really happy with the cookies in particular.

Hopefully will be healthy again by Monday for some more serious portfolio work!

It was another rough week- I caught another nasty bug that basically put me out of commission for half the week.

Lush's Portfolio Expansion! Week 5

A couple more pieces I think might be portfolio worthy!

Well- actually- hrm- I dunno how to feel about this week's works. I painted that Ring just for myself- experimenting with lots of black and some white- light bubbles and fluidity. As well as a bust shot to practice mixing more human tones- trying to learn how to mix those various browns, tans, and creams- just from memory.

So, they might not actually be part of the final portfolio. But- I am happy with them.

After finishing a couple paintings, I went ham on taking requests to celebrate 500 followers on Bluesky. A little pick me up after all the Xitter kerfuffle.

On top of that, I took a conscious effort to try sketching a little more. Experimenting with tones and shapes.. And in one case with giant tids- trying to see how my mind's eye handles "rotating" a figure.

Lush's Porftolio Expansion! Week 4

Alright, I got a little bit back on the horse after that week of sickness. So it's on to week 4!

Trying to pick up some momentum and be a bit more experimental or otherwise practice things. And part of that- is practicing drawing people with paint. I have this urge, to make things smooth. Which is admittedly difficult with acrylic paint- it dries very quickly- so smooth blends are not simple. Might try some more Impressionist inspired rendering. We'll see.

I'm a day late- I was out almost all weekend at events. But, here I am now!

Here are the drawings for last week. Not too many again- still trying to get back on my feet after that bout of sickness and then lots of anxiety.

Weekly Update: I Was Sick

Welp, it was bound to happen eventually. I caught a bug and a bug that lasted for more than a day. Practically the whole week. I still don't feel super great, but I'm starting to feel a bit better.

So, this last "leaving twitter" pic was pretty much the only thing I finished before I spent all my days sleeping away the pains. I dunno exactly what I had, probably a flu or something. The only tests I took came back negative- so- Shrug.

Lush's Portfolio Expansion! Week 3

Alright, this week was a bit slower. A lot slower. On the painting and practice run. But, I have a family of bears painting (for my brother's birthday.) And the starting of my own "Ring."

I was also working on a sewing project this week, for Halloween. (I sewed a red cloak) And furniture assembly, the first supplies that were included in my budget came in and had to spend a chunk of a day assembling easels and lamps.

I'm definitely starting to feel all those, musings and question...

Doodles of the Week! Oct 25th

I ended up making a bit more horny quickies this week! I set aside a day specifically to do a couple of these.

Part of my inspiration has been I think to try to keep up contrast between the more grounded practice I'm doing. And that just in general, feeling like my work has been losing some of its eccentricity over the past year or so. I dunno if I'll be able to make time to regularly do these extra doodles- but- got some this week! Yum!
