I try real hard to not just draw for drawing's sake. I mean, I do - but I just try not to do it a lot. I believe if you have a story to tell, you should draw that story - you'll get farther that way.

I've been draining my reference files. Trying to fine tune some character design stuff but also make some final decisions on costumes. I will not be making the same choice I have previously where the characters wear different things every time but I will figure out at least 2-3 looks for each character because it's fun.

Matt strikes me as the type who would have 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of gym shorts and a bunch of old t-shirts. I think the sky blue t-shirt is a winner and maybe instead...

This is the beginning of a project longtime in the making. It's going to be very challenging and I question if its even realistic but I've just gotta try.

A million years ago I had this bad idea that was contingent on Matt's cock being a "joystick". I decided to resurrect that idea into something more aligned to my vision of the characters now - in design and concept.

So, what does one do when they feel like they have a handful of good ideas and like, a quarter of the time needed to execute them? I wish I knew. But one thing I remind myself more and more frequently these days is that if I don't have a story, all the reference and all the sketches and all the model packs I've made for myself won't amount to shit.

If I want to animate something - I need a storyboard and a character design is not needed to do that. If I want to make a comic - a narrativ...

Fashion - Sketchbook

I've had these ideas for a very specific look for this project and I've decided to finally put my money where my mouth is and try to execute it. I made these paper doll templates and pulled out the reference to pore over. The plan is to keep pushing the clothing and character designs until they get beyond the reference and start to expand into actual characters and environments etc.

I spent some time reference comb overs and now Cornhole has this sorta flyaway thing happening that reminds me of Terpsichore in Disney's Hercules. I'll keep working on it so it really reads "comb over".

We Love a Short King - sketches

Sometimes, you start working out a new character for no reason. This is Carlos and he's "a short king, with bulbous pecs, short soccer shorts that hug his muscular legs and a pronounced unavoidable bulge." His last name is probably something like; Pinga Del Grande or Del Grande Cabron. What he lacks in height he makes up in girth. He has no fear. He loves himself. And has no regard for personal space.

A comic about a gay guy with a guardian angel gives you lots of opportunities for ridiculous stories and this is something I always wanted to exploit. Scary Questions - a 12-Inch WIP

Apparently my interest in composing comic pages has shifted to just figuring out a single panel at a time. I guess this is helpful while trying to nail down new character designs but I worry it won't make any sense when I put the panels together - and what of the font point size and bubble placement... <gasp>
