Sneak Peek Images - Aviary - Birdhouse - Wood recolors

I've made some more wood recolors for the birdhouses.
To show you they will match all kinds of wallpapers, I've made 3 examples, each with a different wallpaper.

If I had to choose which one to use for each wallpaper, I would go for the second from the top for on the brick wall, the third from the top for the horizontal wooden wallpaper and the first or fourth for the vertical wooden wallpaper.

Sneak Peek Image - Aviary - Bird Houses

Another update on an aviary object I'm working on, a bird house.
Of course an object like this one can easily be used outside an aviary too against a normal outside wall or maybe even a tree.

Right now though, this object will stick to walls and you will need the Eco Lifestyle pack to be able to use it. This is because I've edit an object from this pack to make this wall mounted bird house.

My own Aviary birds :)

Hi everybody,

I still needed to show you my own aviary birds!

Right now I have 2 bird species. On the first and second image, you see my Bourke's parrots (parakeets). These are Australian parakeets. The first one is the male and he looks like how they normally look in the wild too with these colors. Although it's colors might get brighter after the first moulting. Sneak Peek Image - Aviary - Fence - Shadow fixed

I was able to fix the shadow for the fence! Now there's coming sunlight into aviaries too.
Which really looks a lot better then the big shadow. :)

I Had to make 3 separate files each with one recolor, then be sure to give them all the same Object ID so they would all spawn under one catalog thumbnail. And I also tried to keep the same order, so gray one first, then the black one and then the white recolor. But when searching for the object, the black one will appear while it's the s...

Sneak Peek Images - Aviary - Short Rope

I've also worked on a short rope with additional recolors and 3 deco slots on top so birds can be placed on top of it.

I struggled quite some time with some strange shadows on these ropes and another object I've also worked on and which will be shared later. Turned out it weren't those objects, but the bird objects. So I've did a quick fix for these particular tanagers, but still have to do the others too. I will share an updated file here on Patreon later.

In the images above a better look at the fence recolors.
The first one is the original fence color, the white and black one are made by me.

Something I still want to try is making the shadow more realistic as right now it doesn't really shows the fence holes, it's just one plane shadow. Maybe I've did something wrong while makig the recolors or something..

Probably it's fixable. ;)

Heatwave + illness

Hello all,

I haven't been sharing updates anymore as there's a heatwave in the Netherlands right now. It's even the longest in history for our country. Because of this heat, I can't sit in my 'pc room' as it's simply too hot in here. I did try with a fan, but I still can't sit longer then half an hour in my room.

I'm not sure if that's also the reason I'm not feeling very well lately. Because of the heat I sleep very bad. I wake up like once every hour or so, so I'm very tired thr...

Zoo-Tropolis + Sneak Peek Images - Aviary - Short walls

Hello everyone,

I've took some time this morning to work on the aviaries a bit more despite the heat wave and I've done a few different things that are partly visible on the screenshots above.

But let's start with some more Zoo-Tropolis news first. Right now it looks we're going to give the Zoo-Tropolis Project a second change, but as multiple people with already busy lifes will collab, a release date can't be said just yet.

Update on the Zoo-Tropolis Project

I've asked in the Zoo-Tropolis Discord chat if people were still interested in doing such a thing and only one so far has responded. This person (TheKalino) did respond with a list of all her animals so it seems at least one still thinks it could be a cool thing. 

Although I know from Icemunmun that she's still interested too, but timezones make it difficult to do collabs sometime.

Sneak Peek Images - Aviary - Short Walls

SHORT WALLS
The first screenshot on which no short walls are used, can probably better be used as chicken coop or maybe even a dog shelter.

On the second one, I used a wooden recolor of a custom short wall only at the bottom while raising the fence to the roof.

For the third I also raised a second custom short wall to make the top of the fence to look a bit better too.

In my opinion the fourth screenshot looks the best. In that case I shrinked two walls ...

Update on the Aviary pack

I haven't shared much about the aviary pack yet, as I didn't got much time to mod yet. But I did start with making some recolors of one of the items, so I hope later today I can share them with you.

I've also tried to make some more aviary examples and discovered that the items can probably be used not only for building aviaries but for larger animal enclosures/cages too.

Last year, I've tried to start up a big collaboration project with other CC Creators for building Zoo related...

UPDATED - Short Angled Box window file

Hello everybody,

I've just fixed the Short Angled Box Window, but haven't uploaded the updated pack to YouTube yet. This will happen in a few minutes too, but in that case it's the whole pack.

For now, you can download only the updated file here as I've attached it to this post.
Be sure to delete the old file before placing this new one into your mods folder.

Sneak Peek Image - Next project!

I was/am incredibly busy this week with both socializing our kitten, decorating my aviary and all other things that has to be done in life, so I'm sorry for the delay in content.

Update for the Short Angled Box Window + MTS upload

I've read that while I was away, EA has released a new patch for the game which also fixes the Short Angled Box Window from my Eco Lifestyle Window pack from last week. While using my override though, the window still seems to be broken.

I will update that somewhere this week too, so it doesn't look broken anymore. :)

Another thing I discovered while on vacation, was that I forgot to upload the window pack to MTS. The release on MTS will be moved to upcoming friday around the sam...

My holiday is over, but I'm far from fully rested as our kitten Puck has arrived!
I will share some photos later this week, as I did already made a few of course, but I think better ones can be made as she's becoming less shy every day now.

Eco Lifestyle - Windows + Deco Slots - Overrides
When looking through the objects that came with the Eco Lifestyle Expansion pack, I noticed that small objects couldn't be placed onto the window sills.

As using the Moveobjects on cheat doesn't always work the way I wanted to, I decided to make some window overrides with additional small and medium deco slots.

Detailed information - Window Overrides

Some important things you should know about the Eco Lifestyle Window overrides:

- As already mentioned, these windows are overrides. They will still contain their original recolors though. The only thing I've added are additional small and medium deco slots.

- To make them better recognizable as slotted windows in the build menu, I've added a small plant icon to the lower left corner.

- As for those deco slots, remember that objects that fit into small deco ...

All Custom Window Names + number of slots

As I don't have time to make individual images with all window names right now and you will get to see them anyway in the video, here a list with all windows + number of deco slots.
For 8 of them you will also get the number of slots when used on diagonal walls.

- Short, Medium and Tall Angled Box Windows (3 windows in total)
Straight walls:      6 Small & 2 Medium
Diagonal walls:    10 Small & 2 Medium

Weekend news & Sneak Peek Images - Diagonal walls windows!

This is something I already wanted for a long time since I've always had an aviary at my parents home, but had to miss it since I left the house.

Sneak Peek Images - Final 2 slotted windows

In the images above, the final two windows that I've added deco slots to.
For both the small as medium deco slots counts that not all have been used in the images above as they partly overlap each other to give more possiblities when decorating the window sills.

Just as with all other windows I've added slots to, on the outside there're only medium slots placed, but they can be used by the smaller objects too.

The total of windows with additional slots is now 13!

Sneak Peek Image - Another only outside slotted window

For the window above I wasn't planning to add deco slots as I thought it didn't had flat surfaces. Turned out it does! So with the two other windows I still have to do, there're will be 13 window overrides with slots added to them.

The gnomes on top of the window have been placed with the MOO cheat activated, as all other medium deco slots, your small objects can be placed on there too.

I also discovered that not all windows have a separate diagonal window model.  So instead ...

Sneak Peek Images - Only outside deco slots

The two windows visible on these screenshots, only have addtional small and medium deco slots on the outside of the window as indoors there's isn't the option for additional deco slots as it's all flat.

The Gnomes are placed on medium slots and plants on the small slots. You will also notice in these screenshots just as in the former sneak peek, that the plants can be placed onto the medium deco slots too.

The first image shows the left and right Angled Box Windows. On the outside I placed a single medium deco slot. I won't be placing small deco slots on the outside of the windows as all objects that fit on small deco slots automaticaly also fit onto medium slots. I also don't think small objects will be placed that often on the outside of a window.

Instead of only adding deco slots to the window sills on the inside, I've decided to add some to the outside of the windows I've already worked on too.

For the 1x1 Angled Box Windows this means a single medium deco slot on top of the windows. The 3x1 Longbox Window got 7 additional medium slots on top of it.

Custom Titles & Descriptions

After getting the help of the lovely Szanne7000 for helping me getting the English titles and descriptions of all windows, I began to think that using custom titles and descriptions might be better. Luckely Szanne was ok with that too despite the work she had with making screenshots of all Eco Lifestyle windows in game.

The reason using custom titles and descriptions is because most of the time the titles and descriptions of the objects in game, don't make any sense. So as for the title...

I was just trying some things when I noticed I've missed something important with the windows and adding slots to them. I haven't worked with windows before, so that's the reason I probably missed that each window has two separate models. One for straight walls and one for diagonal walls..

As these diagonal walls seems to be a bit ?longer? then usual, the model of those is different then those from the straight walls. Another model, means the double amount of windows to...

Sneak Peek Images - Next window slotted

The windows on the first image are exactly the same, but it's to compare it with the second one. On that second image, you'll see the small slots on the left and the medium on the right. Though the left part of the right window shows some examples of small slots.

Not all objects which are able to be placed onto small slots will fit on that left side of the window. The picture frames and that soap dispencer do though!
