There was one day where english wasn't clicking and I almost lost my mind because the only way I could picture "blue" in my head was "bloo"

you ever wonder if horse furries jog like people or if they gallop

Some pics to show the changes that tend to happen throughout the lineart
sometimes I have to really wrestle a design and it takes slow little tweaks until I hit the click
I had to wrench the face around and add in more detail to the fur for it to start to feel
frills n gills

And some progress pics
1 is the base coat that each design gets, usually a warm color for warm blooded characters and a cool color for cold blooded ones. I can leave this rough because I'll do so much work on top of it later, and usually I aim to have between 3-5 different main colors I can pull from for the rest of the piece is this phase
2 is after introducing two more colors and a little more blocking in of their zones. You can see the idea is much more solid even though there ...

Related to Youseph but not by blood
well kind of by blood but in an indirect way
lives in the Pygmy woods and yeah he makes trees look pretty small
the Pygmy woods get their name because of how small they make you feel

he's specifically designed so that I can scribble for all of the black parts of his design, so ~50% of him

work from my last semester
i had five studio classes and one online course and that's the period of time where I opened comms one time in like five months lol
all studies completed within 1-2 class periods, so 3-6 hrs
as much as I dislike art education I will always admit it's a major player for improvement, it forces the time commitment and exposure to new media/ideas/creative liberties
interesting to look back at this stuff

Another view of legs more clearly showing the major muscle distinctions
i usually mentally break the upper leg down as: 3 in the front, 2 in the back. As long as those numbers are there, 2/3 of the work is done. The rest is honing in on their positioning, which comes with practice and study
the lower leg is very similar, 3 in the front, two in the back, however one of the 3 is a bone more than a muscle. This is the shin, which is the divider of the calf muscles in the front

purple and blue make excellent shadow colors as alternatives to black
the complimentary color to the designs main color (blue or purple in this case for this guy's yellowish) is also a choice that will naturally create a pop

If you can wrap your mind around how to draw a squishy knee you've got 70% of the aesthetic of the leg tackled

Quick triple ref
Every body part has its pair of muscles responsible for certain movements
For your bicep to flex, the triceps must stretch, and the inverse is true too
Each muscle has a point of origin (beginning) and a point of insertion (end), this is where they are always anchored. The in-between space is where things become more difficult, as when bones rotate a certain way (such as supination or pronation of the forearm), the muscles will follow, so be sure you know wh...
