Dev Diary, October 18th, 2024

Quick little update this week.

Scripting has progressed nicely, and I've only got one scene left to script. After that, I'll be jumping right into the actual personal testing, variable checks, transition adjustments, music, sfx, and so forth.

Episode 3 will be sent to the testers next Friday, and I'll also reveal the release date then.

As mentioned in the last update, I decided to put in a bit of extra time and effort this week, and it paid off.

U4iA Episode 3 is now the largest release I've done regarding any numbers, whether it's script size, music, lewd scenes, or other visuals.

To start with the positives, I finished a scene that is a bit different visually than static images alone. I wanted the scene to feel more alive and thus had to make a moving background. It turned out to be easier than I had suspected, but took a bit of time making the visuals.

I also experimented with some of the new features of the latest version of Renpy, which will be very useful going forward.

Around 4k lines of script/dialogue were done, along with adding some renders here and there, which so far is just about the same as I wrote in last week's update (yes, I briefly considered copying/pasting that one :p).

But that's about it for similarities.

In this episode there is a hidden 'mood' variable for every person, which goes up and down depending on what happens, and your actions. So I thought, 'why not make it visible instead?' - and here we are.

I've spent the whole week scripting and working on the Renpy part of the game. I had a lot of fun doing it, too, as it's always nice to see everything coming together.

I completed around 4k lines of scripting and dialogue and added many UI elements, icons, effects, roam hovers, etc. To compare, episode 2 had about 15k lines, so there is still plenty to do, but it's good progress.

Progress

It's Friday the 13th, but it hasn't come into effect yet. :p

Because it's been another week of good progress. Finished up the last 'normal' scene, and I have one big cinematic-type scene to do. In addition to that, I also made some renders for the phone and plan to add them to the wallpaper app as well. 147 renders were done in total.

Progress

Great progress this week. I've finished all of the solo scenes with the girls and the planned transition scenes. 153 story renders and 262 frames of animation were done. On paper there are only two scenes left to pose and render (unless I add something during testing).

I was going to focus 100% on scripting this week, but I was able to do renders instead. I finished Sea's scene, and that's the last of the lewd ones. There's still one major animation scene, but I'm holding that off until the very end, as it can be rendered through testing when I get to that point.

This week was mostly about rendering animations. Not a lot of stills were done.

As I mentioned some weeks ago, I'm having some work done on my property. They were supposed to start working on September 2nd, but I woke up this Monday to find them working in the garden at 7 a.m.

Why is that a problem, you ask? They are going to remove 250 square meters of mountain (more than 30 trucks of stone), so it's nine hours a day with constant drilling and blasting right outside my office win...

It's been a fairly straightforward week. Sea's hair reacts a bit weirdly to sunlight, so there were a few re-renders due to it; other than that, she's been behaving exceptionally.

One of the things I love about making these games is that the characters evolve almost beyond my control as the story progresses. As I mentioned last week, I was working on a scene with Teagan, and as I put her and 'you' into the scene and saw how you got along, everything changed from what I had scripted.

Thank you for the helpful suggestions last week concerning my SDD clone task. I tried the software mentioned, but one gave an error due to too many bad blocks, and the other outright lied to get me to buy a full-year subscription.

Dev Diary, July 12th, 2024

I finished the big scene this week and ended up with 200 renders for that scene alone. I still have a big non-lewd cinematic animation scene to pose and render. And, of course, all of the scenes where you get to spend some one-on-one time with the girl(s) of your choosing.

But I feel I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. It's approaching slowly, but it's there.

Okay, so I went a bit nuts on the Roxy lewd scene. I ended up with 20 animated sequences, which have been rendering all week and finished up about an hour ago. So, no story renders were done this week, but a hefty 2,647 frames of animations were done, which is the maximum I can output in a single week.

I did finally add 'bones' to the ass cheeks on the girls. This adds for some more 'jiggly' action, as none of these models have naturally moving asses without using morphs.

I had a small hiccup where the renders turned out extremely grainy, and I was eventually able to track it down to a small picture frame that had neon lighting surrounding it. And even if that wasn't even close to being in the camera, it impacted lighting for the whole scene. Neon surface lighting = bad for grain. Noted.

As I mentioned two weeks ago, I've been trying to finish everything in the story except for this trip we're going on and do that last. That's now completed, and only the trip remains. This week, I did the prologue, epilogue, and a guest cameo.

Story renders are at 1,447; no new animations were done this week. However, that should change in the upcoming weeks, as I expect to do quite a bit of animation work. It wouldn't be a memorable trip without a little animated nudity, would it? :) View Post

Back to full-time rendering this week, and after last week's extremely annoying scene, this is been much more enjoyable.

I noticed one of the animations rendered really quickly, so I decided to render it in 4k, as it's been on my to-do list to try that.

Of course, the leap in quality is noticeable, but I doubt I'll start doing it for all animations, as the only advantage is that more detail will be preserved when downscaling it to HD (which I do on all the still-renders).
