Dev Diary, April 15th, 2022

I've been spending most of the week working with Renpy, as I always do when I'm getting closer to the 1000 render mark for each chapter.

With this being the last chapter, it needs a bit of extra attention in setting up the layout, scripting different events, and the more 'cinematic' effects or multi-layered images I use to visually enhance the story. It doesn't boast huge numbers, but it simplifies everything for later when I dive in and do the dialogues. The script has grown by about 2...

First things first, the figurines have been ordered, and everyone who ordered should have gotten a private message. If you haven't, please tell me.

Secondly, I'm very happy to be able to announce that I've signed a $20,000 deal to secure the rights to use a huge music library for my next game. And before you ask me if I've gone completely bonkers, music - to me - is an essential tool to add yet another aspect of artistic freedom when designing the scenes and setting the mood. Without it...

A bit different update than normal today (and no, none of it is April fools jokes). :)

This week I've taken my first small steps toward becoming a full-time developer. I've set up a real stock company, so when the time comes for me to quit my normal job, the transition should be as smooth as possible.

Just to be clear, I haven't quit my normal job yet, but since I started this, I hoped that by the time I started my second game I would be able to, and I'm glad to say that it ...

Progress

I'm still working my way through the logistical nightmare that is the girls ending scenes for chapter 8. I'm down to the last 2 girls, and happy I'm finally getting to the end of them. After they are done I'll work on the main event, which I'm very excited to start. I've also ordered the last two missing 3090's that will complete my new render rig, which I'll definitely need for that main event scene.

This week I've mainly been working on lewd scenes, so ...

I've been posing this whole week and working my way through yet another girl's 'ending'. This girl is one of the slower girls to render due to her hair, so I've got the unusual luxury of building up a render-queue that's running in the background as I write this.

I also just realized that I haven't rendered a single Cece render since the last chapter, but now that I'm on the subject, I'm working my way through to the few last and undoubtedly most popular girls in Leap of Faith and very ...

Progress

I was approached by another dev this week concerning a crossover, and honestly, it was a too good opportunity to pass. It also fits right in with where I'm at right now in development, as you'll see in the image below.

So, the other dev sent me the girl and I got to work on the actual scene. Though, as I set up and render the scene with her in it, I got this unea...

Not the most exciting week when it comes to updates, but I'm making progress in all visual areas. I've spent the week posing and rendering both animations and stills, which shows when I'm looking at the numbers. My render folders show 584 story renders and 7,882 animated frames completed.

So, I guess it's time to give the answer to last weeks poll about which event in LoF was based on real-life experiences.

Being invited to a pop stars home for some weeks during...

It is now - First come, first serve.

Progress

Finally, I've been able to sit down and work in Daz uninterrupted, and I've been having a lot of fun doing so. The week started off a bit weird though, with my son testing positive for Covid on Monday, but he's already recovering and my own daily tests keep showing negative.

Story renders are now up to 493, and animation frames at 6,356, which is a decent increas...

First of all, I have to give a huge thank you to everyone for helping Leap of Faith get the great Steam reception it did. It has been beyond what I could have dreamed of, and I know that because many of you bought the game on Steam early, made it spend all of last week on the 'New and Popular'-list, including topping it last weekend. That alone gave 10,000,000 page impressions and helped show the game to a new audience.

It has been a wild week, with people from all over the world has co...

I've been working on story renders this week. In addition to that, I wanted to bring in a bit more fun into the chapter, so I've added some scenes which are more of a fun nature and built the locations/backdrop for them.

Numbers now stand at 338 story renders and 4,748 animation frames. It's a bit less than I'd hoped by now, but it's not a big worry. There are good weeks and less good weeks, and that's just the way it is.

One of the reasons for it is that I discovered an error in ...

Yet another week with good progress. I've mostly been working on animations, along with some filler renders, which reflects in the numbers.

I'm now at 276 story renders and 4,748 animation frames.

Next week I'll be focusing on story renders, which will be a nice break to the animations. Doing still renders pushes the story forward at a faster pace and long periods of animations generally feels you're at a standstill. But there's an end for every girl (and then some), so you will a...

Open post this week and next week, as I can't hide any news about giveaways behind a paywall.

Progress
Nothing too exciting to report this week. I'm working my way through the render marathon that is chapter 8, so there's a good increase on both animation and story renders.

Numbers are now at 240 story renders and 2,554 animated frames.

I've finished up the first of the main endings, with all the variations connected to it, and I'm now working on girl num...

Finally, I was able to get a full week of work where I turned off all distractions.

I've been working on the first of the girls endings and progress is going well. I've focused on animations mostly, but also story renders to get things stitched together.

For numbers, we're at 163 story renders and 1,288 animated frames.

I'd like to give you a little rundown of how chapter 8 is developed, so you get some idea of the workload remaining.

About 60% of this last chapter is ...

This week there's been quite a few distractions. I had originally made my Steam release as a seperate version to the Patreon release, but decided to rewrite it so both version now are essentially the same. That means I will save a lot of time later on with the release of chapter 8, and during the development of it. Unfortunately, it also meant I had to re-script and re-test all of the achievements (with the help of my testers), which took a decent chunk of last weekend.

I've also done a...

Welcome to the new people and happy new year to everyone.

These last few weeks since the chapter 7 release has been stressful, overwhelming, but an extremely nice experience, and I feel I should thank you for sticking by and supporting.

Between Christmas and New Year, I included all reported typos and prepared the Steam release of the game. The store page is now up, and the Steam build is being tested as we speak. The release date of Leap of Faith on Steam is February 11th. If you...

Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates! Thank you so much for the kind feedback, support and for downloading and playing my game.

We surpassed both 1,000 and 1,100 patreons these last two days, and I'm really out of words for what to say. I'll be back before New Year with a few more renders for you all.

I hope you all have a naughty holiday, and stay safe out there.

Chapter 7 - Pre release information

With just a few days to go, here's the standard pre release information.

Remember that the surefire way to jump in and play the next release from where you left off with your current saves is to make sure you've saved in an unmodded version of Leap of Faith.

I haven't introduced any malicious scripting which ruins your gameplay if you've modded your game (I mean, who would do such a thing...), but in case your modded saves do not work I can't provide bug-testing and fixes. It's ju...

These are hectic weeks before the release and Christmas, but I've been pushing hard all week, and I'm en route for the release.

I wont give any render numbers from now until release, but I can say that Leap of Faith has rounded another milestone, surpassed the 10k render mark which is todays preview image above (and 60k animation frames) for all chapters. Hopefully your choices won't lead you to see that image in the game though.

Instead of the normal dev diary I thought I'd give ...

Shared $1 and $5 post this week due to the importance of the screenshot.

It's a very weird feeling having worked on the story for almost two years, knowing that at some point I would have to use the words that make up the story's title, knowing they will tie everything together.

So as I watched that scene, I'm not going to lie, it was an overwhelming feeling, and I ended up going outside for a bit just to soak everything in. The scene is very powerful, but heartwarming. Hopefully ...

Hey guys. Hope you enjoyed the Chapter 7 release date video. Well, it was mostly animations you've seen already, but there should be some new ones in there. And with that song in the background and it's lyrics, you should have a good idea by now what mood we're in during this chapter.

I told you last dev diary that I was going to do scripting this week, but ended up doing most everything else instead. But progress is still progress, so there's a decent boost in renders in addition to ge...
