Finished piece started in last month's tutorial video! It was quite challenging to compose a more complete scene set in a nature theme, but it did help me reorganize my own workflow and learn a couple of new things as well.
Part 2 of the video on the topic of environment design will be up later this month - thank you very much as always for your support!

I wanted to do something with this color scheme again (last time being here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/quiet-dream-54888912 ); red feels like a really strong color that can energize a scene by so much!
As always, we will go through the process steps for this piece at the end of the month!
Thank you...

Next part of the series - Finally we're here, but something's wrong?
Going for a few cinematic angles and closeups here (with plenty of help from reference) to get in some details. I hope you enjoy this installation and thank you very much as always for your support!

This month's tutorial is up! I share my process when it comes to planning and designing environments, as well as answering some questions from you guys yesterday. It took quite a bit longer than expected, so please do look forward to Part 2 where we finish the demo and do a full rundown on the specific process itself.
Thank you so much for your support and I hope to see you next month!

The process walkthrough video is up! I spent a bit more time this round talking about the story and intentions behind this set before diving into the individual files, so the video is a bit longer than usual - my apologies. I hope you enjoy!

It's coming to the end of the month again and the process breakdown and tutorial will be up in the next couple of days!
The topic for this month is "Environments - Creating Immersion" - I have a outline and demo prepared, but I would love to hear if anyone has specific questions regarding the topic.
If you would like, feel free to drop them in the comments an...

I was scrolling through some old work when I saw this piece - and had a feeling that it was really unfinished! It's been a while since one of these, so here is the "remaster", it still feels slightly not complete, but I think I brought out the pose and atmosphere a lot more after the remaster.
As always, we will go through the walkthrough for this process later this month!

Thank you for your patience, the third part is up finally done! There should be at least 2 more parts left of this series, and with some action coming up :)
(We will be walking through the process of these pieces as always later this month as usual)
As always, thank you so much for your support and feel free to let me know what you think about this set of 4! (and what you think might happen next)

The tutorial for this month is up! I tried hard to keep it concise and to 30 minutes, mainly touching on some basic considerations and a few core things to take note when approaching portraits that everyone can try.
As always, thank you so much for your support and feedback is always welcome! See you next month :)

This month's process walkthrough is up! I tried my best to keep it a little bit shorter this time so it's easier to watch to completion. I also talk a bit more on the artist's intent and how I plan out a set - and slightly less on the usual technical stuff - I hope this slight change of pace is helpful!
The tutorial video will also be ready and up soon as well. This month we will be doing a short starter guide on drawing portraits, as it seemed to be the most requested topic ...

Just a little something more casual in the meantime while I work on the next Lake set! Hope you like it and feel free to tell me what you think as always.
Since the number of posts is always going up, I tend to miss some of the comments getting posted. I'll still try to answer as many as I can, so do feel free to comment :)
Thank you for your support as always!
(We will be going through the process for this piece as always in the walkthrough video)

Second part of this longer running set! There should be another couple multi-image parts for this "short story". I hope you find this new format interesting and fun to look at. As always, feel free to let me know what you think.
Thank you for your suppport! (Process will be gone through and discussed in end of month video as always)

The tutorial video for this month is now up!
Composition is quite a hard topic to tackle compared to the others because of how subjective it can get when we get into the details. In the video I focused on making a simple breakdown and providing some examples on how to approach the subject - as well as couple of things we can try to pay attention to as we plan and execute drawings.
As always, feel free to let me know what you think, and of any suggestions, thank you for your sup...

I'm working on a new set continuing from the latest one in terms of narrative (should be fun!) It's quite tough one though and will probably take a bit longer before it's out, so I thought in the meantime I'll do one of these.
Feel free to ask your question below and I'll try my best to give a detailed reply!

This was a fun set to paint, especially recreating the wake of the boat on the floating petals!
It can be a bit tough thinking of interesting visual elements for quieter settings like these, so I find capturing a couple of angles to form a set tends to help with that.
Of course, drawing several angles for the scene is challenging but at the end still feels quite rewarding when it's all done.
Hope you enjoy the pieces and look forward to the process walkthough at the end of th...

As the year comes to an end, I just want to say thank you for supporting me in so many ways. It's always humbling to think and realize that doing what I do, it's always the people who enjoy my stuff that quite literally enable me to continue pursuing this full time.
Having started Patreon in February this year, I've seen nothing but a lot of kindness and generosity from everyone. Even though I'm still new to the whole creating tutorials and teaching thing, you guys have been very ...

This month's tutorial video is up!
I used the same presentation method as in part 1 to keep things reasonably compact, with a bit more focus on talking about priorities and what milestones to look out for during the painting process.
As always, feel free to leave feedback on anything with regards to the video (length, detail of explanation, etc), thank you!
I appreciate your support very much as always, see you guys next month (year)!

The process steps breakdown video for this month is up! The tutorial video is soon to follow as well :) As always, we go through all the pieces uploaded this month and how they are made.
I didn't quite complete as many pieces as I would have liked this month (sadly), but managed to do quite a bit of planning and composition for the next few works. I hope you enjoy the process video and find it at least little bit helpful!
Thank you very much for your support as always!

The piece for this month's tutorial is complete - Ironically it is the Part 2 of the Greyscale to Color tutorial, but the piece kind of turned out pretty subtle when it comes to color instead!
(may have to borrow the previous Fast Food piece for a little bit during the tutorial)
Nonetheless I think there are still some good talking points to be had and many overarching principles involved as well, so please do look forward for the tutorial coming up soon this week!

Drawing a more casual costume design for a character (name TBC)! It's refreshing and quite fun to try some colors and lighting setup that I haven't used a while. The red stuff is definitely ketchup.
As with last month, I will be going through the process of creating this in the walkthrough video later this month. Thank you as always for your support!

It's been so long since I did a drawing in this kind of style! Doing the bad guys series is fun and all, but doing some "less serious" themes feel quite nice too.

Exploring a more of that red lighting - it's quite tough to get it right since red tends to be a "dark" color and doesn't really create as much value separation when used as a main light source!
As with before, we will be taking a look at the process steps for these at the end of the month process breakdown video!
Thank you as always for your support.

The first part of the Greyscale to Color tutorial is out - In this we mainly cover how to create a solid value sketch before proceeding to adding color. A lot of problems during the coloring stage actually source from the initial B/W sketch, so I wanted to dedicate a good portion of time to talk about that foundational process.
Look forward to next month's video (Part 2) where we will talk about how to add and manage color, deal with color harmony/matching and more!

An interesting and pretty fun piece to create! The materials and mirror was a challenge to properly depict in an illustration context - there were plenty of references available to help with the angles and perspective, but it was tough getting the "mirror" feel in, especially with a "different" reflection.
As it turns out, adding a couple of glass cracks worked quite well. Let me know what you think as always!
The process steps for this will be in video form together with the ot...
