Hey everyone, Dogson here, just wanted to tell you I'm doing the Big Feline head ATM and I'm looking in tutorials for facial rigging.
We thought that this poll cold have a small fun twist: and that is too see if anyone would like to see a predator - prey theme for the heads next after the big feline.
They're obviously not the most traditional once but we think they'd work (felines and canines being secluded from this run since we already have or are working on them)

Hey, Dogson just stopping by showing an example I've been working on we'll add with this coming release with Fur authoring.
I've chosen a Female Fox template I've altered slightly, the most important thing is the fur and why masking and the operation masking is important here if you wish to achieve a partly fluffy look we have here.
I've just ha little while of working with it, but I must say, Odes has done an really impressive job here and I'm super impressed of the work he's in...

Hi all!
While the next release of FurryVNE will be focused mostly on the new fur authoring tools, we're also introducing a few improvements elsewhere.
We already posted this in our forums, but thought I'd share here too.
With the next release, you'll be able to tile and offset texture masks and normal/occlusion maps. Hopefully, this will make texturing a bit more versatile!

Hey everyone, here's a little sneak peak of what's to come for this update character wise. Sharks won the last vote so here's the female template almost ready for usage. We've descided to go with a plantigrade one because anthro shark design varies greatly but it should be almost no effort to switch to digitigrade for those who want that. FurryVNE release for September will include an alpha version of a bra physics simulation. The sole purpose of this component is for garment authoring, so you can export the character when the breasts are in a "bra" mode.
While we don't have a garment component yet, it's something we've started to implement.

Here we see the Big Canine head being applied to a wolf template that we're adding, the template will be both male and female. Also we're adding a second pair canine digitigrade for all you paw enthusiasts out there.

In the rendering of the FurryVNE cover image (which was rendered in cycles/blender), we used an effect known as "soft glow". This makes the image look a bit more dreamy and like a painting. It's a common filter used in anime.
I've been experimenting with adding this filter for the build to be used at runtime. This is what we've got so far.
How do you like it?

Improvements to hair and fluff is coming next release. We're using a new tech that cleverly exploits temporal filters and jittering to produce the results you see here. Even though no transparency is actually used (all objects are fully opaque), the effect of transparency is achieved.
The animated gifs are comparison of old vs new.
Fur shading and authoring tools probably won't make it for the next release. We have been (and still are) preoccupied with a bunch of bureaucrati...

Right, after looking at the poll in July there's no denying that Big Canines won this one. We absolutely know that canines are popular and we'll start working on one now, we do also think that future canine heads should be put on dev-lock for at least some time forward now, at least for this remaining year.
We'll also expand the numbers of slots from 8 to 14 for this poll because we first thought that it would be kept simple with a very limited number but we do realize that it probably...

What could it be?!.. A.. Giraffe!
We're really happy we finally solved this one, this issue with necks has been gnawing on us for quite a while how we could get Maya the Giraffe in at some point, but we've solved it now.
Implementing giraffe was challenging because it required custom rigging and skinning for the neck. Up until this point, head models in our system could not affect the body, but with the introduction of giraffe, we've made changes that allows us to change the body...

Doing iterations directly in our app is really helpful for me to develop the head further then when we were in development before Christmas of 2019.
This got me thinking though about templates. Templates are there to help users kickstart their creativity and characters.. but.. perhaps the very basic color and lack of mask and more elaborate parts just isn't really that great nor fair for users with less aptitude for self driving editing and creativity and that just want to grab a anthr...

We need a bit more content for our fox for this release in July, so I'm working on feet that can offer users a bit more variety and a design that can fit stylized characters pretty good.
( Don't worry, a digitigrade version is also on it's way too. )
With these new feet we want to take them along our new path of modular details peices just as the nose for the head and allow users to use modular paw pads and toe pads for both better control and variety.

The way derivatives are found and filtered has been changed and is now live!
You can now choose to show both (default), only originals or only derivatives. Furthermore, derivatives are now linked with image, loading and voting functions directly inside the original item.
Derivatives inside items are sorted by author (original author first, if any), then by date (newest first).
Should derivatives be sorted by vote score instead? Or hot score?
