State of the game - June 2022

The last month I've changed to the different release schedule with all patrons getting the early access, and then esteemed patrons getting the first bug fixes and latest mechanics testing. It was also last month that I had all of the art assets for Wg, and I was even able to commission another special piece thanks to supporter funds.

v0.7.1 Patch Version

Feels good to be a few days early. The Esteemed Patron level patch version was scheduled to come out this upcoming weekend, but I guess I was just on a roll. When I have filled up a single chat message on my discord's #Supporter-Progress thread, its a sign for a really good time to release and move on.

v0.7.0

As promised, I'm happy to release the latest updates for patreon supporters. This one might have had a couple of features up in the air. It was all trying to begin support for new artwork that is getting very near to completion. Nonetheless, I'm happy to advance the story further, build up some new mechanics, and to fix a few bugs. State of the game - May 2022

Here we are a few months since I've started to release alpha and now beta versions of Project Gaia. Looking back there are so many things I didn't expect for my first dive into game development. Only about two months in, and nearly 20k views, 3700 downloads, a positive response all around.

v0.6.2

Okay, so lessons have been learned. I want the first early access to unlock Act III content. Although it may not be story complete, players should be able to see all the art.

The problem was with the maps. I've been wanting to add more detail to them, and what I didn't know before was that depending on the layer tiles were on, it was preventing a player sprite from moving around.

Roadmap for v0.6

I'm enjoying the longer development cycles. By planning to release every two to three weeks instead of every weekend, I can focus on more new content. 


I'm finishing up concepts for the last two maps for Act III. The story itself is concept-finished and ready to implement. With the wg illustrations already complete, that means I can unlock the third act for supporters as soon as they're done.

Patreon has just told me that the first billing cycle will occur on April 1st. Shortly after that, I plan to have the 0.5.0 release out this weekend. Plans for 0.5.0 and beyond

Today I just released a patch version with some small content updates. This is more finishing up from my "progress too big for one discord post" 0.4.0 that I released in the middle of the week. While there are still plenty of other updates I want to get in, I'm planning on one last push this week to get a lot of them and push the 0.5.0 release next weekend that I have been marking as the milestone for a delayed release for non-Patreon supporters.

Welcome!

I'm grateful and ecstatic to already have patrons that are willing to support me and my game development.

For now things are getting rolled out as a collection. I hope that is a better way of saying I'm trying to juggle it all. Adding content, researching artists to reach out to fill in missing art content, collaborating with current illustrators to keep content building, and now reaching out to the players and fans.
