Where is my update?

I spent most of the weekend working at recovering parts of my DAZ library. Collateral of the last system failure.

There are lots of things in the computing world you learn not to put your trust in when you're actually depending on your tools to deliver content. 

Cloud services : They just don't work like an actual file system and you'll realize it when you need multiple files at once or when a content management service fails to access files that are not where they used to be or are out of synch. Use an actual backup software and trust in your ability to manage your files. Some are cloud based, that's fine. There is a difference between a cloud based backup service and a cloud service used as backup, Go for the first one, avoid the latter at all costs.

Content management systems: They sound like they're a database, and they use a database engine but... They're totally the opposite of a database where it comes to performance and reliability. So whether its a picture library or a content delivery mechanism, you're probably better off with a fast SSD and a search index. If the software you're using will let you that is...

So in the end, it took some time but everything seems to be working again, some of the content I had to accept would wastefully sit in multiple copies on my SSDs just so I could keep on working on my saved scenes and not start over with some of the game locations.

So, no thanks to DAZ... I managed to get DAZ Running mostly as it used to. The Olivia Avatar update was not uploaded as planned but the next one will be double sized to compensate.

What's Funky Spice: Story-mode?

It's what the game is supposed to be. Oliver will have some objectives to accomplish along 3 axis, though one could focus on only one axis and still be successful within the game. They are as follow:

• Control
• Respect
• Attention

Control represents how much Oliver is in control of his life, his family members and the various resources. A controlling Oliver has plenty of spice in his inventory, money in his pocket and influence over his family's life choices.

Respect represents how much Oliver is valued by others. To be well respected, Oliver must have good grades, treat women well while honing his seduction skills, not be a push-over and be physically fit enough to win (or lose gracefully) at sports and in strength competitions. He should also be one step ahead of his peers when it comes to keeping up with pop culture. 

Attention comes to Oliver in a variety of ways. His charm will win him the looks of the women he meets, his knowledge will put him on top of the list of desired participants on almost any team project. His physical prowess will get him opportunities to participate in events and competitions where he'll be able to broaden his network.

Having higher or lower ratings on the 3 axis will influence how long it takes Oliver to receive certain achievements or in-game rewards! (And cut-scenes...)
