A Question... kinda

So, firstly I'd like to apologise for the late chapters this week—I'll do my best to get Ch. 56 out in the next few days, Thursday at the latest. I've been swamped with trying to translate Old English and am having a blast in my attempts to do so while reading Beowulf. Writing has been slow going not only because of that but also due to how I want to handle a certain payoff that I cannot speak to using any specifics because of spoilers.

That said, during this small break, I've thought about the current "business" model. I put that in parentheses because the idea of this being a business kind of made me chuckle—and until I write an original work, I think it will continue to do so.

Anywho, I'm thinking of changing the way tiers work, but I wouldn't want to do so without your input. Part of the reason behind this change is the massive gap between you guys here and the public release. Each time I want to engage in conversation on threads, I've got to mentally backtrack and often re-read the chapter in question. Because of that and a couple of other factors, I'm thinking of switching up the benefits to tiers.

Patreon will not allow me to change the price, so I'll have to add benefits that you guys think are worth the cost. Perhaps early access to art? Maybe a limited space tier for commissioned one-shots and another for short stories?

I'm all-ears where that's concerned.

As for my plans with advanced chapters, the idea is to calculate the advance in terms of weeks instead of chapter amounts. One week ahead, two weeks ahead, three etc. Of course, this would free me up to do quite a few things extra in the long term while also slightly narrowing the "story gap" between you guys and the public readers.

It'll take a little while for me to decide—say, 1-2 weeks. In the meantime, things will remain as they are but I'd love it if you guys leave some suggestions in the comments.

Aye. Hopefully the newly proposed benefits also seem worth it.

The change in release is okay with me . I actually try to stay with public release till a cliff hanger i can’t stand forces me to read ahead . This was i know there is always a chapter waiting for me. Also, my main motivation for subscribing is to keep the story alive and make it worth your time to continue writing.

Would you say some of the benefits above make it seem worth it? Any you'd like to suggest?

Unfortunate that patreon does not allow adjustment of prices. Makes you less flexible on what to do. I will be honest. The 9 chapters ahead thing certainly seemed for me to be worth the decision to subscribe. Though my main motivation was to be able to discuss the story better with you and supporting you because I really love the fic. I cannot say at this point whether an original work would catch my interest. However, I can understand your motivation for this really well. When I comment on spacebattles I also have to check some stuff again so I do not spoiler anything by accident.
