JANUARY Q&A!

Here's our first Q&A of the new year!! This month's spinning wheel results are at the beginning of the video :) Is it just me or is January going by so quickly?! Enjoy!

JANUARY Q&A!

It's also a trick question asked by the bridgekeeper for two different reasons the capitol of Assyrian Empire existed in different places during different periods in which the Assyrian Empire existed from 2025 BC to 609 BC. Also note that technically there wouldn't be a capitol at the time (932 AD) which 'Monte Python and the Holy Grail' takes place. At least until the timeline went out the window with the death of "A Famous Historian". :D But hey, its Monty Python and now for something completely different...

Here are some movies for Valentines Day that I think your Patreons would approve. Give it a try, with an additional option of "None of These". We might surprise you: "Six Days, Seven Nights" (1998) Harrison Ford "The Last of the Mohicans" (1992 version) Daniel Day Lewis "Milk Money" (1994) Ed Harris "The Count of Monte Cristo" (2002 version) Jim Cavizel, Henry Cavill "Shining Through" (1992) Michael Douglas "Grumpy Old Men" (1993) "Romancing the Stone" (1984) Michael Douglas "Jackie Brown" (1997) Pam Grier "Out of Sight" (1998) George Clooney

JAKH

The capitol of Assyria question was a reference to "Monte Python and the Holy Grail"

JAKH

"Zero Dark Thirty" is on US Netflix until the end of January, then 'poof', gone. If that makes a difference in your scheduling.

JAKH

'Attack the Block' & 'Journey To The West: Conquering the Demon', are two movies I highly...highly recommend.

LionBro

There's a Korean action/revenge film called No Mercy that I think I recommended a while back, it's about a girl who goes to rescue her younger sister who's been kidnapped by traffickers. The full movie is on Youtube if you want to see it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Uhw14wHa5U

RX-1

I do hope she does. 1917 (2019) will be her THIRD Sam Mendes movie after the James Bond movies Skyfall (2012) & Spectre (2015).

Alex Tan

Wow, my movie won the wheel lol. Didn't expect that. I hope you enjoy it! It's very well made.

Quantum Unicorn

For Valentine's I'll submit Natural Born Killers (1994) as an option. Not really a -Com, but the Rom- in this one warms my heart.

Luis Fernandez

Oh, Mr. Baldemort, that's only because LotR is the greatest movie adaptation of the greatest work of fiction ever penned! Don't blame Addie for recognizing greatness when she sees it! 😁

Phil Stubblefield

She did listen to her heart and said Happy Feet (2006).

Alex Tan

Oh also, Addie saying Denethor is the worst father compared to Darth Vader is insane to me. Only because from the perspective of the lord of the rings books, you wouldn't be thinking that by any stretch of the imagination lol. They did Lord Denethor DIRTY in lord of the rings movies.

Thats MR. Baldamort

I wish I had a dollar for every time Addie used Lord of the Rings as an answer for her Q&As. Im going to challenge Addie to not use Lord of the Rings as an answer for her Q&As going forward unless the question directly is about Lord of the Rings. Good luck!

Thats MR. Baldamort

Funny how the one question that caused the most hesitation was if she liked Happy Feet more than Casino Royale :-)

I second "When Harry Met Sally...," which might be my all-time favorite rom-com. I'll also add "Annie Hall," "Roxanne," "Jerry Maguire," and "As Good as It Gets" to the mix. I'd also say "(500) Days of Summer" and "Silver Linings Playbook," but it appears from her Letterboxd that Addie has already seen them. 😕

Damn, my 'Withnail and I' suggestion came so close; I'm determined to get someone to watch/react to that film, as not only is it one of my favourites, it's a bit of a cult film that not many people seem to have heard of, and I think more people need to discover its genius haha. But it's a great film, with one of the most quotable screenplays in the history of cinema: if you haven't seen/heard of it, it stars Richard E Grant & Paul McGann as two out of work (and often inebriated) actors in 1960's London, who decide to get out of the rut they find themselves in, by going on holiday to the countryside, in a cottage owned by Withnail's Uncle Monty (played by Richard Griffiths). It may not sound like much, storywise, but it's the interaction between the characters that makes it so good. Hopefully it'll win next time: but I'm ookkng forward to 1917, as I haven't seen it either, so it'll be all new to me, too. All the best.

IamBeard84

Me too. This is an uncharted territory for her to watch a rom-com for the channel and I'm here for it. #RomComsForAddieCounts

Alex Tan

Agreed. That'll be a great way to ensure that Addie doesn't open up any snake-related item.

Happy Friday, Addie. Thank you for answering my questions. Here are my thoughts on certain things (BTW, nice sweater): 1. Congratulations Quantum Unicorn! 🎉🎉 Your suggestion for 1917 (2019) just won Addie's spinning wheel. #1917ForAddieCounts 2. PLEASE watch a rom-com for Valentine's Day. I would enjoy that because that's a genre that you haven't watched a lot of on your channel. You DID introduce the romantic movie category for PiB's Poppies Awards live stream and you haven't seen any of the movies that were nominated. If you can watch horror movies in October and Christmas movies in December, then you CAN watch romantic movies in February. #MoreRomComsForAddieCounts 3. Please watch Squid Game 2. It's TOTALLY worth it. #SquidGame2ForAddieCounts 4. Whew! My moral qualms about the aftermath of Wicked: Part I's success are now just water under the bridge. Thank you, Addie. I needed that. Even though my girlfriend & I have no interest in seeing that movie, I do appreciate the production value that it had and that Universal Pictures was willing to take such a huge risk. I was afraid that because Wicked: Part I hit at the box office, that Hollywood was going to make more movie musicals, ergo resulting in the genre potentially being done to death, years later, just like most of the more recent superhero movies. 5. I learned a song about the 50 US States in the SECOND grade. We sang it in a recital. 6. I SECOND the recommendation for Casablanca (1942). That's the MOST QUINTESSENTIAL Warner Bros. movie. #CasablancaForAddieCounts 7. Most of my movie suggestions have been straight pure action thriller movies with a high-testosterone/adrenaline-fueled vibe or anything that's just plain intense. I've been suggesting them to you, ever since you watched The Dark Knight (2008), which left you feeling on-edge, and as a compromise since you only watch horror/thriller movies in October, although most of them you watched in 2024 were more on the not-so-scary side. #MoreIntenseMoviesForAddieCounts 8. Speaking of Nosferatu, I also suggest the 2024 Robert Eggers remake as well, for Halloween. My girlfriend & I saw it in the theater for our six-year anniversary on the day after Christmas, last month. #Nosferatu2024ForAddieCounts 9. Deadpool & Wolverine is also my girlfriend's favorite movie that came out in 2024. 10. Here's a mind-blowing fun fact for you: The director of Happy Feet (2006) is George Miller. He also did the Mad Max film series. 11. On the rapid fire question about the August 3, 2001 movies, my answer would be both The Princess Diaries (2001) & Rush Hour 2 (2001). If my friends & I were the current ages that we are, but living in 2001, I would see The Princess Diaries with my girlfriend and Rush Hour 2 with the guys.

Fun New Years Q&A. 🙂 - 1917 is a fantastic movie! 👍 👍 Looking forward to this. - I can’t speak for anybody else but I’d be down for a good rom com for Valentine’s Day. 🙂 If you do a poll, Addie, I’ll suggest When Harry Met Sally (1989), There’s Something About Mary (1998), and as a dark horse The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill and Came Down a Mountain (1995) as some fun choices.

FYI, Popcorn in Bed has someone 'pre-screen' the packages she receives in her PO box before opening them in livestreams. Perhaps Jeremy could do that for you should you start one?

Thank you for responding to my Ohio question. Yes, it’s a meme. A few years ago in Chicago a bus stop at the intersection of Ohio Street and Michigan Avenue was closed, but the public service announcement for it just said “Ohio will be eliminated” and ever since then the running joke is that Ohio has aspirations of world domination and that it must be stopped. I know it’s super juvenile and hopefully I didn’t render it unfunny by explaining it, but that’s the context since you weren’t sure what it meant. Awesome Q&A as always, hope you have a wonderful January. Edit: No one is safe from Ohio, there is only the illusion of safety. Ohio must be stopped.

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 Thanks so much for another great monthly Q&A. Looking forward to watching "1917" soon. I've never seen that one, so it'll be a first time watch for me as well. Have a great day today and a great weekend. 😊

I feel like slipping in a romcom for V-day may be a good chance to test the waters with your audience. Personally, I'd love to see you react to almost any kind of film.

OldManVax

Charming as ever. 😁

Tom W.

You will see the 3rd TMNT movie right?!
