2024-02-26 03:40:49 +0000 UTCYou know, you harp on Ushiwaka for being robotic, but that fact is precisely what makes him so dangerous. Remember, Ushiwaka is the best ace in the country (the series only ever refers to him as being "in the top three" but literally everybody agrees that Ushiwaka is number 1 on that list) and while he is extremely skilled and has natural advantages, the true reason he's at the top is that the kid just does not break. His dad said it best when he said "when you send it to him, you just feel like he'll score", and he does it. The enemy team has to develop entire strategies to stop him, and him alone. His own teammates have an unwritten rule that if you mess up, Ushiwaka can make up for your mistakes. The kid is the rock holding up both teams. He is the single most important and focused on player in every match he plays in. The amount of pressure riding on him is absolutely insane... and yet he still doesn't crack, because he knows that he can't *afford* to crack. He does love the game, but he can never show it, because if he isn't constantly in the zone at all times, everything starts to fall down around him; he doesn't want to lose the trust that everyone else has in him, and the only way to do that is to not let himself think about anything that isn't how to score the net point.
