You’re probably right, we are saying the same thing. I’m just pointing out that the show is making it clear that Stringer has some feelings about Slim coming up with the way he looks at him when he mentions he is seeing TOO many faces.

Haye Zeus

The guy is New (as Slim pointed out) This means that Stringer still has "all the boys even Slim following his leadership". This new guy just didn't know it because Avon has been spending most of his time at the War Time spot with all of these new Eastside soldiers that he's been bringing in. Slim being in charge of the soldiers just means that he's taken over the position that Wee Bey held in Season 1 which is why I ALREADY pointed out in my initial comment, "The only authority Slim Charles has is over the soldiers under his command". Your comment is just echoing mine.

Tank Obadiah

He had Dee whacked and he tried to get Brother Muzone to whack Omar. He definitely got what was coming to him

User12262844

Yeah but the fact that they automatically looked to Slim for confirmation means that he has been brought up from just another hired muscle to a head guy. He still below String but the fact that String had all the boys even Slim following his leadership at the beginning of the season till now where he has to struggle to get in to see his own partner show his decline in leadership

Haye Zeus

nah stringer was a scumbag

Pacman24

Omar aint no punk lol. What show u been watching

Pacman24

Stringer wack and has no pull like I said. Avon talks to him like hes a lil ass boy lmao. Rest up big fella lol

Pacman24

Bralik... Slim is just the hired muscle as Avon astutely pointed out already. The only authority Slim Charles has is over the soldiers under his command while he himself is under the command of B & B Enterprises. The reason the soldier looked to Slim for confirmation was because as Slim pointed out... "he new" which was to let us know that he had not yet met Stringer Bell in person as he was likely another EAST SIDE hitter that Avon put on their team.

Tank Obadiah

Bralik... why do you think that "Stringer got what he deserved"??? What idea did Stringer come up with that you interpreted as being unjustifiable??? & Omar ain't no "bogeyman of the hood" .. Omar is & has always been a punk in my opinion.

Tank Obadiah

I've been trying to explain this exact premise for 2 decades now to people who keep missing those obvious points you made. You hit several nails right on the head as you hammered your point down. #TellemTANKseddit

"Get your community to snitch" -- at least in this show, I think citizens calling police is an external element to how the game is played. Snitching can only be done by those who have chosen to play. Hence the beginning of the decline of the Barksdale organization is a kind of karma for killing Gant the security guard. And not in a supernatural sense -- the police prioritize the murder of a citizen (especially a citizen witness) over a gangster.

This is easily one of my favorite episodes. So many great conversations and moments, even the stuff with Colvin and Tommy is amazing, but it's just overshadowed by other stuff that happens. I remember my first time watching this when Avon returned the "Just Business" on the balcony and it clicked in my head that Stringer was finna to die the next day, definitely an "OH Shit!" moment. Imo, Stringer died because he thought he was smarter than he was, just because you're smarter than the average gangster doesn't mean you're ready for the big boys. Going behind Avon's back when Avon knows the streets better than anyone, trying to run the politics game when has no experience with it, trying to play the two Superniggas on the show against one another.🀣He consistently gets outsmarted when dealing with real top level dudes and that's why he's in the grave now

What?!? The first I heard of this. At 60? That's way too young. I really have nothing great to say other than loving his acting and he seemed like a great guy in interviews. Too many great people from this show died recently, namely Robert Chew and Michael Williams.

RIP Lance Reddick, such a talented actor. Glad I get to experience his greatness along side you all rewatching my favorite show

Mike Jones

One of the best episodes of television ever once put into perspective.

Wavon Barksdale

One of my favorite things about this season is how officer Colicchio is partially responsible for coining Hamsterdam by trying to compare it to Amsterdam (like hoppers know where or what that is lol) and now people like Burrell and Rawls just call it Hamsterdam without ever thinking about how dumb the name sounds.

RIP Lance Reddick

The thing I love about that last scene with Stringer and Avon is that these are dudes that both still clearly love each other and regret what they *feel like* they have to do in betraying each other... but both of them are betraying the other over some bullshit. Stringer snitches on Avon because he's fucking up their business and cash flow... but so what? Stringer already said earlier in the season that they already made so much money they aren't going to be alive to spend it all. Dude has who knows how many millions, and property too. If he wanted to he could tell Avon good luck, dip out, and have more than enough for the rest of his life. But no - he wants more of that cash flow. He's betraying his brother over greed. And Avon? Mouzone didn't threaten to kill Avon if he didn't give Stringer up. He said he'd lose his line to New York, and his reputation. He wouldn't be able to run his crew anymore, but again... fuck it, right? He has enough money. He could have told Mouzone to kick rocks, he wasn't giving Stringer up, warned Stringer, and the two could have retired together with their mountain of cash. But no - he protected his rep with his brother's life. As a viewer we might feel like one of them was more right than the other, but at the end of the day they are both ruthless motherfuckers drunk on their own particular bullshit and willing to sacrifice their best friend since childhood over it. And deep down they both know it.

Nerd Going Outside

Tweet from Wendell Pierce (Bunk) @WendellPierce A man of great strength and grace. As talented a musician as he was an actor. The epitome of class. An sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here. RIP

The reason The Wire makes you root for the task force is because they show how smart you gotta be to be deep in the drug game and also how fucked up the police department is. Most of the time the task force are the underdogs.

Raul Panzar

That was hilarious. "Well, actually it was all made up".

Ryan Roach

"And that's how you get your community to snitch." I burst out laughing at that. Fuck Stringer gang! "You can't make this shit up!" That's gotta be the biggest complement the writers could ever receive. This show's writing is on a whole other level.

Tom

Sad news today. Lance Reddick, Cedric Daniels, has passed. I've met dude a lot over the last 15 years and he was that dude.

C Perry

That balcony scene, and the hug was absolutely Shakespearean.

Ryan Roach

Damn the actor that plays Daniel’s died today 😒

Pacman24

This is top 3 Wire episode for me.

Raul Panzar

My favorite line in the whole series is "you need a Day of the Jackal type mf basically to do some shit like that"

Wes

omg

Kiana B.

WHAT??!
