Armor (X-REYYY)

Hello Reyyytrons! & Hello to new subscribers! Thanks so much for joining us here :)

Surveys for lvl 20's & 40's have gone out, and I am drawing them! Above is one, "ARMOR" from X-Men for Paul Fisk! Had fun with this character, her power is pretty fun to draw!

Here are some close ups

Went pretty much "straight to pen" with this one (no sketch). Her face immediately turned out to have a vintage 70's anime vibe, so I leaned into it.

Armor guy. idk the backstory behind this character. I'm sure the Armor has significance of some kind! Feel free to inform me in the comments :) I just like that I took the opportunity to draw some stars all over him

This is a thing I do now-- really sketchy looking squiggly lines. Always loved the RAW look. NOTE the hand, too. I've drawn plenty of "PERFECT FISTS" in my day-- sometimes you just wanna achieve the general SHAPE. Painstakingly rendering every detail isn't always necessary-- in fact, sometimes it looks cooler to not! Lately I definitely vie for a balance between good composition and sketchy shapes

yeaaaaa check out that foot! Bam, what a winner! lol but yeah again this demonstrates my current desire to just BUST SHIT OUT. I've drawn many painstaking perfect shoes-- in this case, this woulda been just a boring plain-top boot-- i feel like including the sketch shapes adds fun texture, etc. COMPOSITION v "FINISH" I'm more into the ENERGY than the "finish"

And I think y'all are too ;D ;D ;D

Some of my favorite old Capcom drawings are the "RAW" ones too like this HAYATO from STAR GLADIATOR sketch

risidual shape lines, sketch left over-- but it looks rad! natural!

Anyway-- working on that commission, and digging thru my old 90's floppy long box, has made me want to make an X-Men comic of my own...

So I've begun to do just that. & when I say "make my own X-Men comic" I don't mean "pitch something to Marvel"... I mean make MY OWN X-MEN!!!!!!! Pretty much just gonna "AREM" the X-Men. When I made AREM, I just wanted to make a METROID comic. Same deal with this. However, Arem was very obviously a METROID parody, whereas this new project will be more "original" (featuring very original characters, not simply parodies). Tho it will be firmly rooted & inspired by 90's-style team-based action comics!

I know, ANOTHER NEW PROJECT???

Well, let me summarize:

SHARKNIFE FIGHT MACHINE is like my "MANGA" story. It will be ongoing in chunks, over a long period of time.

GUNBRAIN is nearly complete, and is like an Original Graphic Novel one-shot.

This new X-INSPIRED PROJECT would most likely be a 22-ish page 1-shot, truly replicating that fun oldschool single comic book floppy feel.

So yeah, let's none of us TRIP. Except out of EXCITED-NESS, coz this is gonna ROCK!!!

And to organize things, ALL these projects will be going on the upcoming REYYYTREON COMICS SITE, which I am still working on & will hopefully be up this month!

^Site will collect all my comics in one area. There will be FREE PREVIEWS of each title for anyone, but FULL ACCESS to comics will remain for you subscribers at $3+ level! The site is basically a portal that will link back to Patreon posts.

The remaining installments of GUNBRAIN are coming up for this month!

Thank you all for your support! โœŒโœŒโœŒ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Would love to see your take on the iconic Lee Claremont X-Men 1 feel

Dave Shevlin

I'm not familiar with this X-men character Armor, but when I saw your sketch it immediately reminded me of Rise of the TMNT Raph when he goes into mystical rage mode...turns out it's more than likely Raph is borrowing from X-men more than Armor is borrowing from TMNT!

Thanks! It looks awesome. The armor is her mutant power. An X-Men comic would be great!
