AMS v0.9.4B (Public) Hallow's Shroud! + Brand New Patron; Midnight the Maurader + News

Hey everyone!

It's update day and boy are my arms tired. Oh wait, that joke doesn't work in this context. I am tired though @_@ But anyway, let's start off by greeting our new Apoca-Community member; Midnight! Please say hello to him or her and give him or her a...proper greeting. MWAHAHAHAHA! Firstly though, I'm so sorry again Midnight, my energy levels in the last few days have been very low and after working on the game and updating the Hallow's Shroud bosses, it left me pretty exhausted. I apologize that I haven't greeted you sooner (it's been three days, Egads)! But anyway, I should be sending out your personalized thank you email right after I release this update. If you have absolutely any questions at all, please send them my way and I'll respond ASAP. With that all said, I encourage you to be an active member, voice your opinion! That goes for all of you! I like to hear feedback/critique/bug-reports (not this one so much :P) and if you're enjoying it thus far. Thank you very much for your donation too! Each one brings us step closer to allowing me to work full time on the game which means tons and tons more content---->faster. Imagine if I had 24/7 to work on it!! ^____^

Anyway! Let's get to the release! Here is the Changelog for all the changes!

AMS v0.9.4B (Public) Hallow's Shroud

Bug Fixes
- The Rest Command was checking twice to see if the Player was in a proper Rest area. Easy fix! I also fixed an issue where the Menu for the Rest Command was repeating twice. Strange! I think that happened while I was testing the Stick Cost code.

- Fixed some Rest Command errors both in hard code and text processor. This was an absolute nightmare because of the sheer size of the scripting there. I also rewrote the base scripting so that it was a little more efficient and less laggy for both myself and the player. So all the scripting for that has been completely rebuilt. So far it works brilliantly!

- Fixed some of Hannah’s errors and the Relationship System errors. Nothing serious but enough to cause problems for the Player if they were trying to interact with her.

- Fixed a few bugs with the new Stat trackers, Kiss and Confess for all the characters.

- I fixed a bracket/menu error with the Clothing section of the PVM (Patron Vending Machine). I basically had to rebuild the code to figure out what the problem was but it didn’t turn out to be anything serious. It should be working perfectly now ^_^ Thank you LordMidgetFace for pointing it out! I appreciate it!

- I fixed an error that was happening when the Player tried to enter the Shroud, they were getting Cloned for some reason and the game was flipping out.

Combat
- I have updated all of the Hallowed Shroud’s boss’ inner coding and I have changed their loot tables so that they drop more as well. Not only do they now drop their regular loot but on top of that I have added six loot tables (3 item, 3 clothing) to the Noble versions and two more loot tables to the regular versions (1 item, 1 clothing).

- I have added another Hallow’s Shroud boss to the game. She goes by the name DeeDee Naaldlooshie (nah-doe-she) and she is a legendary Navajo skinwalker, otherwise known as Yee Naaldlooshii (ye-nah-doe-she-lie) in their native language. She can now be found in the new room, The Earth Wing which has a unique description. Her Regular version hits the player for 2 Damage, has no Bonus Damage, no Defense and has about 125 Health. Her Noble version does about 4 Damage, has no Bonus Damage, has no Defense and she has about 425 Health. Her loot tables are similar to the others.

- The Headless Horseman both Regular and Noble now has a Death Dialogue and Description. He also has 5 random lines of Dialogue that will happen about 3% of the time. They are completely randomized as well. I’ve also reworked his general description for having full health and low health.

- The Pumpkin King both Regular and Noble now has a Death Dialogue and Description. He also has 5 random lines of “Dialogue” that will happen about 3% of the time. They are completely randomized as well. I’ve also reworked his general description for having full health and low health.

- Hag Face both Regular and Noble now has a Death Dialogue and Description. She also has 5 random lines of “Dialogue” that will happen about 3% of the time. They are completely randomized as well. I’ve also reworked her general description for having full health and low health. Hag Face also has a Special Attack which will activate 5% of the time. In her Regular version, if her Health is above 100 she’ll preform a specialized fire spell which will hit your character for -5 Health, and will give you +1 Corruption. If her Health is below 100, this attack will hit you for +5 Corruption. In her Noble version, if her Health is above 200, she’ll still hit you for -5 Health but the Corruption aspect is raised to +3. If her Health is below 200, her Corruption attack will hit for +7 Corruption.

- Wretched Soul also has a Special Attack which will activate 5% of the time. In its Regular version, if its Health is above 50 it’ll preform a specialized Healing Spell which will heal your character for +1000 Health (essentially giving you full health). If its Health is below 50, it will attack you for -3 Health. In its Noble version, if its Health is above 250, it’ll heal you for +1000 (same as the Regular version). If its Health is below 249, it’ll attack you for -5 Health.

- The Burning Man both Regular and Noble now has a Death Dialogue and Description. He also has 5 random lines of Dialogue that will happen about 3% of the time. They are completely randomized as well. I’ve also reworked his general description for having full health and low health on top of that.

- The Skinwalker both Regular and Noble now has a Death Dialogue and Description. She also has 5 random lines of Dialogue that will happen about 3% of the time. They are completely randomized as well. I’ve also added her general description for having full health and low health and a special attack too. In her Regular version, if her Health is above 80 she’ll preform a special hypnosis spell which will cause your character to hit themselves for -2 Health. If her Health is below 79, this attack will hit you for -3 Health. In her Noble version, if her Health is above 250, her special attack will hit you for -4 Health. If her Health is below 200, her hypnosis attack will hit for -5 Health.

- Every single time you defeat a Hallow’s Shroud boss, a Large Health Potion will appear in the the Shroud Foyer (which connects all the boss rooms).

- I have reduced all Zombie Health by -1 for both Male and Female Zombies.

- I had to fix ALL of the internal coding for the Hallow’s Shroud bosses to use the current Clone and not the Original Object which is what it was programmed to do before. The game’s gone through quite a bit of changes since a year ago!

- I adjusted all the Dialogue. A lot of it wasn’t proccing because the percentage of proc was far too low. I increased it from 2% to 5% for starters. I increased it again from 5% to 8% and increased the probability of the Special Abilities from 5% to 20%. Increased Dialogue percentage again 8% up to 15%. I decreased Special Ability procs by 15%. It’s now at 5%. Dialogue speak has been reduced to 12% down from 15%.

- Coded it so you could re-fight the bosses again and again. Made it so only one instance of the boss can show up at once.

- All the Hallow’s Shroud bosses have had their attacks reduced by 1-3 points of damage which is a significant drop for most of them.

- Anytime you defeat one of the Hallow’s Shroud bosses --- you get a Stat Boost in a Stat of your choice!

Transformations
- I’ve worked more on the Cow-Taur Transformations; specifically, the Tail and Feet transformations which means that we now have the slow Cow-Taur transformation completed. I’ve also added one last script which activates Lactation in females and 3 Lust in females and +5 in Males. Every 200 turns while the player is wearing the Necklace, the Lactation script will repeat meaning you’ll just keep dribbling Milk or you’ll be in Lust for-ev-ver! Yay! Feels nice to have this out of the way.

- I’ve also added ALL Races with Tails to the transformation sequence of having your Tail changed to Cow-Taur. Now I need to do that for the Doll transformation items.

Stats
- The Relationship aspect of the Stat Window has been updated to include whether or not you have Kissed or Confessed to a certain NPC or not. That way you don’t have to keep track of it, the game will do it for you.

- Lowered the Strength Check for Lifting the Mirror in the West Hallway of the Withered Snag, 10 down to 7.

Sex
- I’ve worked more on the Masturbate Command. Now all the descriptions fit with every race and all the position switches have 5 different descriptions each (to keep them from getting stale), they also take into account your current Foot Type/Race and have been mildly rewritten for better flow. All the position switches now properly get removed and added as well ((for example, you can’t Move Into A Standing Position twice in a row)).

- Player’s with Centaur/Centauress feet (which encompasses the entire lower body; four legs and all) can no longer Masturbate since you cannot reach your sex to do so.

- There are now Pregnancy Child Variables for every race meaning scenes of individual births and your experiences toward the end of your Pregnancy are now able to be written. These variables include; Human, Elf, Dwarf, Dragon-Descended, Orc-Descended, Gnome, Dark Elf, Goblin, High-Demon, Alaraune, Demon, Cow-Taur, Dryad, Goo Naga, Centaur, Neko, Wolf-Taur, Dragon, Orc, Doll Bee-Taur, and Drider.

- There are now Twin(s), Triplet(s) and Quadruplet(s) variables for Pregnancy. You have a 5% chance to land Quadruplets, a 15% chance to land Triplets, a 40% chance to get Twins and every other time you’ll have a single child.

- Pregnancy Turn 870 is now finished. At this point you’ll feel your baby kicking and you’ll find out if you’re pregnant with a single child, or Twins, Triplets or Quadruplets. This script is also completely customized for whatever race your baby happens to be. For example, if you’re pregnant with a Bee-Child you’ll feel eggs inside you, if you’re pregnant with a Demon Child you’ll feel something stabbing your innards. What’s cool about this gigantic script too is that there are four-five variations for each kick and/or discovering if you are pregnant with Twins, Triplets or Quadruplets; meaning that there are five different scripts for Twins, five different scripts for Triplets and four different scripts for Quadruplets. Whew! That was definitely the biggest script in Pregnancy I believe --- or close to the biggest.

- I’ve added another chunk of Masturbate text into the game which was for the option Move Onto All Fours (one of the Switch Position Categories). It has been fully customized toward the player’s legs and gender and it has five different Scenario descriptions. The On Your Back option is all that remains for Female Players. Males still need a revamp for most of their Masturbation Scenes so that all the races will be accommodated for. Both Genders only have one more Switch Scenario scene left.

- I’ve added Pregnancy Turn 910. This deals with the Player’s first experience with Lactation and activates the Lactation Script which I think lasts for 200 turns --- although I haven’t begun work on that particular Script. There are three different scenarios for Turn 970 and it takes into account, whether or not you’ve given birth before and whether or not you are wearing a top. With the conclusion of this script there are two remaining for Pregnancy, including actually giving Birth.

- I rewrote the Lactation Scripts for Pregnancy Turns 980, 985 and 995 and increased the amount of Scenarios within them.

- Pregnancy Turn 950 is finished which deals with Lactation and Reflection. All that remains of Pregnancy now is the description for the very last turn which is the player giving Birth to their child(ren). Woohoo!

Other
- The Stick Cost for the Rest Command still isn’t quite working yet, but it’s close and it has been implemented into all three of the Trap/Hunt Scenarios, the Fire Scenarios and the Shelter Scenarios. Here’s a reminder of their requirements:
Trap Small Prey: Requirements- 3 Small Sticks
Prey for Three: Requirements- 6 Small Sticks + 3 Large Sticks
Large Prey: Requirements- 9 Small Sticks + 6 Large Sticks

- Hah! I just noticed the Rest Command Supply Scavenge was called Supple Scavenge! You naughty people! Fixed!

- I’ve begun adding the Rest Command Fire Descriptions and now all of them are complete. Here’s a reminder of what their requirements are:
Small Fire: Requirements- 3 Small Sticks.
Group Fire: Requirements- 6 Small Sticks + 1 Large Stick
Large Fire: Requirements- 9 Small Sticks + 3 Large Sticks.

- You now have a 20% chance to fail making a fire which will return approximately half of the supplies used to try and create them.

- I’ve begun adding the Rest Command Shelter Descriptions and now all of them are complete. Here’s a reminder of what their requirements are:
No Shelter: Requirements- None.
Debris Hut: Requirements- 5 Large Sticks + 5 Small Sticks
Lean-To: Requirements- 15 Large Sticks
Subterranean Hut: Requirements- 30 Large Sticks

- I updated the Help Guide with the changes I added/made to the Rest Command.

- Using the No Shelter option now gives you less of a chance to Rest comfortably at Night --- and will affect how much Health you retain during Rain/Storm Weather---in some cases using No Shelter in Rain/Storms will reduce your Health instead.

- The Large Stick has been added to all Loot and Search tables.

- I’ve completely reworked the coding for Hannah’s Chat, Flirt, Confess Topics. The way I redid it makes it easier for me to keep track of things, it allows me to add in more conversation topics with less lag and gives the player a friendlier interface to work with. I hope you guys enjoy it. Let me know what you think! I, for one, am excited about the changes. I actually stumbled across this way of coding conversations by accident but it turns out to use a lot less memory and looks a lot better on the player side. I can also remove topics once they’ve been used. ^_^ Wee!

- I’ve added some more conversation topics to Hannah. Right now, I’m working on the conversation topic called “Chit Chat” essentially, which will be used after the player has exhausted all the other main topics. You have a 40% chance each time to gain a +1 toward your Relationship with her, a 25% chance to lose -1 Relationship with her---and the rest of the time you will neither gain nor lose points. So it’ll take a lot to really build your Relationships with a character. There will be 10 scenarios per scenario though.

- Hallow’s Shroud has been turned on! Happy October!

- I’ve added the Friendzone dialogue with Hannah which has five scenarios. Remember, once you are Friendzoned with a character you can no longer Flirt or Compliment them, nor can they become Lovers. You can still be Friends with them though which does have benefits!

- When you Flirt/Compliment Hannah now there is a 25% chance to bring up extra dialogue about your character’s Sexuality and what they think about the whole flirting/complimenting process. Within that proc is another 15% chance that if your character is acting contrary to their Sexuality the Flirting/Complimenting will increase/decrease your Sexuality (depending on your gender); for example if you are a Straight Girl or a Homosexual Male Flirting/Complimenting Hannah there is a chance you can start to change your Sexuality. Both the positive gains and the negative losses as well as the neutral scenarios are all written and finished.

- I have streamlined all the spacing in the Commands and basic Item Descriptions, excluding Clothing for the time being. I’ll continue to do this throughout the rest of the game so that spacing is always consistent. ^_^

- All of the game’s Special Patron Codes have been updated. I will be sending them out ASAP.

- I changed the hard code of the Mirror in the West Hallway of the Withered Snag, specifically when you attempt to Lift the Mirror. Now you don’t have to type out Yes/No, the options are just displayed, or you can do anything else to Cancel. If you notice any weirdness with it, please let me know. I did my best to transfer all the scripts. I even rewrote some of them!

------------------------------------------------

If you notice any goofy stuff going on with anything please let me know. I did my best to test what I could before the update but I wasn't able to get to everything. There's bound to be something wonky going on somewhere.

Going Forward
I'm going to work more on Masturbation (on the male side), get more choices in there and then get some Entice (for both genders) going. I want to begin the last step of Pregnancy as well which is Birth, and I want to start adding some more of the Day/Night Travel Events so that all the major foundations will be set for the player to get underway in their adventure. By the next Patron Beta I'm aiming to have the new Character Creator in place as well, including getting the new title music added since it rocks. Thanks Studio Cacafo! I'm also going to begin work on the Laboratory Remaster including Rold and Aaleahya.

The next step after all of that is adding more rooms and the first 20 major travel events (four per room) so that you adventure starts becoming your own. Hope you guys are looking forward to it as much as I am!

As soon as the Save/Load Library is fixed up, I'll be Hotfixing the release as well (assuming I'm not in the middle of the Character Creator).

I think......that should do it. If you guys have any questions about anything lemme know!

Next Release: Patron Beta 3NOV17

Thank you! :D

Thats great!)))

Hm. That's the first time this has been reported. I'll have to look into it. Could you try again a couple of times and SNIP a shot of your inventory once you get stuck? It would take far too long to isolate a particular item if I'm not sure which one is causing it. I'm not sure why your inventory would say -7 after entering Rold's either since I just double checked and there aren't any scripts that add to your inventory and all the quest items from there have no volume, so something you were carrying was adding to your volume I think. I'm sorry to hear your having so many problems. Rold's content, although incomplete now has a warp at the end that takes you outside of the Withered Snag, so you shouldn't be getting held up or stuck there anymore. And to skip the Withered Snag all you have to do is not go inside and take four turns like (wait, drop something, pick it up etc) and you'll move into Sudden Death which will take you to the Whispering Thicket. As for the Save/Load ---- the library owner is working on it so as soon as it's ready I'll provide a hotfix and then everything should be good to go with that. If you have any questions or other concerns lightning lemme know, kk? I appreciate the bug report too. Anonynn.

I already have a really good idea where the main story is going. But the player will not have to follow the main story (it will sort of be a big optional line of quests). There will also be several major side-quests that will take the player off in other directions for a long period of time and possibly end the story depending on what happens to them in those other places. As I begin to Remaster Rold and Aaleahya you'll begin to kind of see where the main story is going and how the Withered Snag fits into the story. Given that you can skip the Withered Snag though there will definitely be an alternative B-Route that will sort of take you in the same direction of the main quest but neither will be required to finish the game. But yes, there will be a lot of branching; things you do and the companions you have with you will directly affect the Major Travel Events and the Quests you run into ^_^ I have a lot of ideas. Between the Major Travel Events and the Remaster you'll see more of the game's world and the characters within! Anonynn.

"The next step after all of that is adding more rooms" Does this mean you're working on expanding the game's story (in that, new rooms tend to bring something a kin to that?) with these new additions to Apoca? There's so incredibly much being added, yet I admit I'm perhaps, the most curious about where the story takes us over time (or if you intend, slight branching here ....something I -know- will mean, an incredible amount of work)

I hit a rather swift bug with my inventory that quickly killed my ability to advance further. My inventory just bugged up and it wouldn't permit me to store anything or drop anything. It kept saying I was overburdened and couldn't move. I even dropped everything and it still said I was overburdened. It acts like you are carrying everything in a room at once or something. This was with the latest public build you released. I gave up in the foyer of Rolds House because it just struck there. Sheesh I will never have enough luck between the little issues to ever see the extra combat. I have never even gotten past rolds to try combat yet in any of the builds which made me wonder if I was skipping the route that allows combat or something. I guess I'll wait another few build releases to see if its more playable by that time. I also would prefer a working save function before I try a game like this. There are too many ways to mess up for clean starts every time you hit one of those points. Yeah it just litterally said I was loaded down when I am not. I dropped everything. I can't move and I can't pick a single item back up. I just downloaded your latest build too just before I posted this bug note. Oh and I just checked the stats. For some reason my max carry stats became -7 just walking into rolds. I don't know what happened this time around but that kinda makes me want to stop for sure since there are clearly still many issues that can rear up on players at random here. A few more builds to give you a chance to clean it up seems reasonable.

Thank you! The Save/Load is being worked on by the Library owner so as soon as it's ready, I'll be hotfixing the update. The problem is systems like Inform and Rags etc only have a few variables to save and keep track of for the player (because the player can't manipulate certain varaibles) so it can create an actual file to be loaded. With Quest, every single thing that is put into the game is a variable that can be manipulated and customized which means the standard kind of file like Rags and Inform uses wouldn't work. Given this is only Save/Load v2.0 it'll likely get better and better as things continue and maybe eventually a file can/will replace the code, but for now it's the only way I have to let the player continue playing from one version to the next (which is actually a feature that only my game has in Quest currently). Don't worry, it'll keep getting better and better and perhaps eventually maybe Quest will move to browsers like Flash and it'll save via cookies or something. Until then it's all we got. I'll definitely keep everyone updated on it though. Anonynn.

Good to see this is going forward. Is the save already working? You need to implement a decent save/load system, this copy/paste such a big line of characters for each save is a big turn off for the game.
