Honestly, I'm tempted, but we're not actually allowed salt lamps - our cat would probably kill himself trying to eat it.

But some are treated with a sealant, in which case you'd be licking lacquer or something similar. If you want your curiosity satisfied without buying or licking strange lamps, buy pink salt in the spice aisle at the grocery. It's the same rock.
