How to Draw Battlemaps with Tom Cartos - Tutorial Video Series

Hey everyone!

I am very excited to announce that I have just released my complete walkthrough tutorial series on how I make Battlemaps in Photoshop. The 4 hour, 6 part series covers everything from photoshop tool basics, to sketching and design, and creating your own textures and assets. I take you through my entire workflow from start to finish as we create 'Tom's Tavern'.

Thanks so much Ian! and sorry it took me so long to get around to making the videos, I've had it planned for some time. Curved walls and organic designs seem to be popular requests for future videos so I'll be sure to prioritise them. I also like the idea of different texture tutorials.

Tom Cartos

Hey, really pleased to see this series as I believe I asked you earlier in the year old Instagram about your process and you said you'd be doing some. For a budding map maker, it can be a bit confusing at times working out how people make their maps in photoshop, especially with architectual styles as most seem to use Illustrator and have a completely different method and it's harder to do in PS. What I'd like see in future videos would be how do you implement rounded shapes, into your line drawings, like the ones on your Valley of Tombs maps, the semi-circle alcove and where the skulls are. Is it shape tool, is it the same as you did the Hex tool, but then deleting the bit you don't want. Also, things that are more organic like cliffs and valley styles like you've done on a few maps. And also maybe more on different styles of textures, like flagstones, or tiles and the like. Love what you've done so far, and I'll be sure to post anything I make using your videos in the discord. :-D
