It's hereditary to his species! While a type of magic does exist in this world it's all tied to Mother Nature, who created the god he is the reincarnation of. It's why he can see the light of a soul (even though he isn't aware of that fact) And ye, this is an example of someone whose soul is void of all light, someone who would never find redemption, the worst type of person masquerading as a normal man
