On the menu for April (konpeito!)

Happy April! From me and one extremely happy little soot sprite. I’ve eaten konpeito, and I’m sure it exists in different flavors, but the only one locally is just sugar, nothing else. It’s rock candy, basically, but itty-bitty.

So I slowed down, art-wise, the latter half of March, because (you may have seen on social media) we said goodbye to our wonderful dog Kilo, who had been sick for a while. We got so much more time with him than we were told to expect, so I’m really grateful for that, but the last couple weeks were spent caring for him, and then being very sad and blue. And we’re okay — it was the right thing to do for him — but I sure miss my goofy old peanut.

This month’s postcard will be the textless cover for UsedtobeHMC’s Eccentric Orbits! It’s really fun to look at, and is the sort of thing I would actually hang on my wall, so I hope you guys like it! Fun fact, and I don’t know how common this is, but I have never done the kind of art that I actually like and would want to put up on the wall. Some folks find that bizarre, but I think a lot of other artists might know the feeling. But OTHER people enjoy putting my art on the wall (or fridge or whatever), and that feels pretty doggone great.

I’ve been working on that bicycle belles piece, hopefully that’ll be done this month, and I have a couple other ideas. Mostly I want to get a little more smut out for you Ladybirds and up. Send me strength 😅
