Time for an update. Good news and bad news.

Hello Patrons, fans, friends, and supporters!

I have now been up North with my Dad for close to a month and things started out fine. He got his transplant and we spent a good week and a half paling around in our room.

Then things went south. Fast. He got an E-coli infection once his old immune system was fully gone. Infected his bloodstream. Kidneys shut down. Liver hit. Some fluid in lungs. Couldn't breath.

Let me preface by saying that he's alive. Currently in the ICU and on the road we call rapid recovery.

But doctors did have to sedate him. They put him on a breathing tube and had to hit him with a ton of medicines and antibiotics to get things under control.

This all happened last Saturday. I was warned to summon my family. We all thought they were coming to say goodbye. Sunday night looked grim.

But... Every day this week he has improved.

On Sunday, a doctor told me to my face that he believed my Dad was, "The sickest man in the hospital right now".

On Monday, that very same doctor said he no longer believed such.

On Tuesday I heard another doctor say that Dad has, "defied expectations".

Every day this week he has improved in a small but meaningful way that has me almost expecting him to make a full recovery. I know he won't in full, but, what a change from Saturday to today.

I now type this on a Friday night, and am hoping that sometime this weekend that he wakes up and can perceive the world again.

The stress has been real but I am stalwart in the face of it.

Thank you all, again, for your patience and support. I can afford food and the home we're staying at while Dad is gone thanks to you. I can only hope that as he continues to smoothly recover that I start to get back to that canvas because I have faith in the future.

It's such a relief to hear he's improved in the last few days. I know he's not out of it just yet but I share your optimism that he will be awake and thriving soon!

Oh wow, that must have been a rollercoaster. I'm so glad he's doing better, but I'm all too familiar with those kind of scenarios. I hope your dad continues to improve and recover.
