The courtroom wigs are basically an over 300 year old tradition. Silly and outdated to an outsider, yes I agree. They have been phased out in some cases and currently remain for criminal rather than civil and family cases. We all have traditions that are both usual to the inside and outside observer. Like the pledge of allegiance for example. That's been commented on as appearing to be a bizarre form of ritualistic indoctrination. Classified by some as quite usual, certainly by their own precieved set of normal practices by a nations citizens. Likened by those who fail to understand its purpose, as an almost cult like practice. The portrayal of courtroom escape is pretty stupid if you ask me. Signposted as going to happen pretty heavily, we are all meant to see that obviously. Probably falls into that unpleasing trope, of mega cop surrounded by incompetent fools who aren't up to their calibre. And of course failing to listen when warned. Narratively it gets us from A-B for the story progression they want. Catherine is badass enough on her own. I don't see the need to depreciate the contributions of others to elevate our perception of her. I'm a little bored by the trope if I'm honest.
