Trials of Gaia (CYOA caption series; let's try something new!)

I'm going to try a "Choose Your Own Adventure" caption series where the $5 tier gets to vote on where the next caption in the series goes! Polls will be roughly a few days, but I'll figure out a more permanent time frame for CYOA polls in the future. Most of these will be inside of a doc with a link, but this is just the very beginning, so I'll post it right here. All future "Trials of Gaia" entries will include an image along with the story.

Trials of Gaia: Prologue

An adventure makes their way through the forest after days of traveling. Finally, they come across the Shrine of Gaia, and are eager to start their trial. They have no idea what to expect, and have have heard rumors ranging from convoluted labyrinths to one on one battles.

It is said that any who pass the Trials of Gaia will be granted the power of a demigod, but most give up partway through and live out the rest of their lives within the realm of the trial.

The adventurer approaches the cracked stone altar of Gaia, which is covered with vines and flowers. They recite the sacred words as taught by their village's elder, and are finally granted access as the vines extend out in front of the altar and form half-circle arch. A bright glow manifests within the arch, the very very air itself rippling.

After steeling their nerves, the adventurer takes a deep breath and steps forward through the portal. Fame, glory, and godhood await if they have what it takes, but could it truly be that easy?
