Dev Build - A Well Rounded Diet

Alrighty, the round body and feeding tube are back in action! There's also a new burps status effect you can toggle for periodic belching. I plan on tying burps in with feeding and some kind of bloating mechanic, but for now it's just a basic on/off.  And be sure to play with the growth factor slider for rapid gains or if you want to pause growth at a preferred size. For now, this slider also influences how much you grow from hand fed items, but I plan on making that a separate thing in the future.

I wanted to add another batch of character customization options and more feeding tube food types in this update too. However, all the time I spent trying to get rolling to work held back progress and I didn't want to delay it any longer. Anyway, you can expect another build with the additional stuff I had planned sooner rather than later. For now, I hope you enjoy!

Hey thanks for joining! Technically the physics plugin I use doesnt support scaling soft bodies so I have to do some very hacky stuff to make growth possible at all. Basically past a certain point things get ugly and unstable so I had to set a limit.

Joined today, already tried the last dev build. I was wondering if the max weight cap is there in order to avoid PCs chugging at higher weights or if it's just a gameplay choice.

Thanks for the support and I'm glad you're enjoying it. I will add tube feeding to the skinny size at some point. I plan to have a few stages between skinny and blob size and the feeding tube will be usable for all of them.

Hey I recently joined, and I'm really impressed with how this game is going so far. I was wondering if you're planning on adding a feeding tube to the slim model? So that she progressively gets fatter. Even if you're not, I'm still very impressed with the outcome so far.

Its technically possible but I'd have to rework a bunch of code to make that work with character controls and customization and itd probably only run well on really good PCs. I may try it at some point though.

understandable! thanks again for the reply to all of the comments (its a great read)! Other then that I do have a couple of suggestions that I'd like to throw in. I was thinking of a Library level somewhat set up like the buffet one, and I was also wondering if there'd be a way to reset the WG without exiting the game. thanks again for the amazing work!

Glad you're enjoying it! I wish I could make them even bigger, but not only are there performance issues beyond a certain size, the mesh also starts to bug out and looks awful and the simulation becomes prone to crashing. The only work around I can think of is to have a map dedicated to even larger sizes where everything in the level is smaller by comparison, but the blob isn't actually any bigger than usual. I may do this at some point, but it's kinda low priority compared to everything else I wanna do.

I’m loving all of the updates! The the optimization that you had from the previous build really paid off tremendously! Selfish request but, will you ever consider havjng the ability to go beyond the current max size? Maybe if you’re in the regular room you can fill it out more then normal? I know you mentioned about it being taxing on pcs.

That would make sense. I guess having multiple stages where her size surges would be the only way to go. Maybe a toggle to either give the option to "evolve" or have it happen automatically. Ideally there would be several stages to make it transition as smoothly as possible. Look forward to see how you pull it off ^^

The beach was a super early test map that was never even close to completed, but I think it would be a good map option in the future. As far as screen capture, I think that's a great idea. I already plan on adding some advanced camera options for panning the camera, changing field of view, adding depth of field etc. so a photo mode could go along with that. More animations would be nice too and I'm sure I'll add more eventually.

Glad you are enjoying things so far. I'm still experimenting with how to handle sizes between skinny and blob. Unfortunately the physics sim doesn't understand any mesh changes made by blend shapes. It will only remember the shape of the initial mesh, so smooth transitions are basically impossible. I'm thinking something like 3 or so stages between skinny and blob where after you feed them enough you can choose to "evolve" into the next stage.

Yep. I plan to have a series of sizes that lead up to the blob size.

Just finished the demo update. I think the round shape has to be my favorite of your fat types. I also do enjoy the new speed fatten slider which helps show the fatty at her largest size. I do have 3 thoughts that came up from this update. First, I remember seeing you post a beach setting when you showcased your original round fatty shape. So would you have a beach setting in mind for possible locations for future updates? Second, I want to ask if you are planning to add a screen capture option? IE, taking photos in game. Finally, I have wondered if you have more animations for the blob forms. Outside of walking and as you said before, rolling. Maybe the fatty trying to move her limbs around if in a idle state as a example. These are my thoughts and questions. I am very glad to see the round shape and tube feeding back. Keep up the great work Blobygon.

The round blob is everything I could ask for. Looks so good. For suggestions I think a banquet hall with a huge table of food would be a great addition. I am curious how you intend to go about the transition between skinny to blob with how many blob types there are. Would it just be a bunch of blend shapes or something?

Awesome work, as always. Loving the return of the round shape. A toggle to turn off sweat/steam would be nice too. :)
