Development Update - 1st March 2021
Added 2021-03-01 18:51:51 +0000 UTCHey! I've been a little quiet lately, because I've been putting a lot of time into catching up on the workload. There's a lot I could say, but what's most important right now are the following bulletpoints:
- The Festival's beginning and first sequence (including the endings) are fully finished. In total, there are 36K words so far written for this quest. There's one sequence left, then the ending ceremony to the festival and that's about it. Because that one sequence that's left is difficult to quantify, the only thing I can say is that I hope that each of the three plots (one per mask) of the sequence will take me one day, so that I'd have it finished in 3 days, leaving 2 or 3 days for the ending ceremony itself.
- The drawings are pretty much nearing completion, with only one left for the ending ceremony itself from the festival quest. So, on this side, we have nothing to worry about.
- Coding & UI are relatively in a good shape, the only problem is catching the bugs that the new UI and avatar system could've brought. For the UI, there's one last detail I need to add, that being the Smartwatch's Dairy. This one will be essential, because it will serve as a guidebook that hints at events (like the shower events) and activities (like blackjack and the gym) without needing to wander around aimlessly.
I've made one mistake that I'm well aware of, that is to cram so much stuff into one update which of course will make me feel bad about it taking more than I'd have liked it to take. I don't really like to announce release dates and not respect them, or move goalposts around.
With that said, what I honestly wish and work towards achieving is to have a release date around the middle of March (~15th March) for $5 Patrons, so that public players and any new patrons will get to subscribe at the beginning of April (due to the 2-weeks early access offered to the $5 tier), avoiding double charging them this way. As I've said before, most of the work has been done, especially on the art side, but I got pretty ambitious with the writing and that hangs like a dark cloud above me. So.. I can't wait to finish writing and polish this update for the earliest date I can release it at while feeling confident that the experience won't be ruined by a few bugs here and there.
