ATTENTION: Patreon is Changing

Hello everyone,

In case you haven't heard, Patreon is making changes to the way it handles service fees, which will take effect on December 18th. Whereas before, Creators would pay for all fees on their end, moving forward, Patreon is changing it so that Patrons pay a portion of it.

Starting December 18th, Patrons will be charged an addition $0.35 + 2.9% of their pledge. Here's how that breaks down for my reward tiers: 

$1: +$0.38 = $1.38

$5: +$0.50 = $5.50

$10: +$0.64 = $10.64

$20: +$0.93 = $20.93

$30: +$1.22 = $31.22

$50: +$1.80 = $51.80

$100: +$3.25 = $103.25

$200: +$6.15 = $206.15

Patreon's goal with this new system is to reduce the fees that Creators have to pay so that they can earn more from your contributions. Whereas before, Creators would have to pay anywhere between 7% to 15% of their Patreon earnings to pay for fees (for me, the fee hovered at around 10%), with this new system, they'd only be paying a flat 5% fee.

One thing I'd like to make clear is that this was Patreon's decision alone. If it were up to me, I'd pay for all the fees no questions asked. But Patreon isn't even giving us the option to choose between the old system and the new system.

I know these changes will affect some people more than others. If the added service fee means that you will have to reduce or delete your pledge, I completely understand. Despite the dent these changes might have on the current total earnings, I felt it was my responsibility to keep you informed of these recent developments.
