Chapter 477: His Joyful Expression, as if the Serpent of Fate Tapped His Shoulder
Added 2025-06-01 15:07:01 +0000 UTCCharlot Mecklenburg was taken aback and asked, “Is that even possible?”
Juno Arthur shrugged. “Who’s to say it isn’t? How do you think I discovered that the Blood Ancestors started becoming predictable?”
Charlot glanced at the thousands of ghost ships still drifting on the ocean surface and suddenly felt how absurd it all was.
Yes, absurd indeed—and very much in the domain of the Evil Gods.
With a leap, Charlot jumped off the Radiant Holy Kingdom and sprinted across the waves, storming onto a ghost ship. It took him a bit of effort to knock all the ghost crew into the sea. Then, he cast Labyrinth Transformation on the ship.
The transformation went smoothly. When the process was complete, the ghostly sailors who climbed back aboard naturally became labyrinth guardians. In truth, they had always been guardians, just not ones under Charlot's command.
To Charlot’s astonishment, transforming the ghost ship consumed a single use of his Labyrinth Transformation ability, but in return, he gained five more uses after converting the ship and its crew to his own.
This was the power of the Labyrinth God Agmirlas, which had now become part of Charlot’s personal “wealth.”
Charlot ordered the newly controlled ghost ship to approach another nearby vessel and repeated the process—knocking the ghost crew into the sea, transforming the ship, and converting the returning sailors into guardians. This time, his actions earned him an additional six uses of Labyrinth Transformation.
He then experimented with creating a Mind Channel between the two ghost ships and received three additional uses of the Mind Channel ability as a reward.
Watching Charlot leap from ship to ship, conquering the ghost fleet one vessel at a time, Juno couldn’t help but smile. “He looks so happy, as if the Serpent of Fate just tapped him on the shoulder,” she murmured.
After taking over six ghost ships, Charlot changed tactics. He divided his new fleet into two groups of three and sent them to target different ships, while he personally focused on the seventh.
With this new strategy, Charlot’s efficiency improved. Soon, he controlled over a hundred ghost ships.
Once he had gained command of this many vessels, Charlot was finally able to manipulate the surrounding mist, lifting the blockade over the sea.
The reappearance of Charlot’s fleet on the ocean’s surface was an awe-inspiring sight to his subordinates—but to the uninitiated, it looked as if the ghost fleet had returned to haunt the seas.
Cresto prepared to order an attack on the ghostly vessels, but the Radiant Holy Kingdom emerged, and Juno shouted from its bow, “Hold your fire! Charlot is reclaiming his spoils!”
After Juno explained what had transpired, the Saint-rank figures were stunned. They quickly took to the skies to assist Charlot. With their help, Charlot’s rate of conquest increased dramatically, and he shifted his focus to the ancient magical warships among the fleet.
These warships, though now ghost vessels, retained much of their original power. Even so, without assistance, Charlot would have struggled to defeat them quickly, especially the Saint-level spirits aboard. But with the help of his formidable allies, even the strongest ghostly defenses couldn’t hold.
Charlot had just transformed one ancient warship when, to his dismay, a ghost ship in the distance suddenly capsized and sank. He quickened his pace, but other ships continued to sink or vanish, one after another.
When he finally claimed the last ghost ship, Charlot sighed as he watched five more vessels sink simultaneously. He had only managed to capture five or six hundred ships—a fraction of the fleet that had returned to the ocean’s depths.
The silver lining was that all eleven of the ancient magical warships had been transformed into his labyrinth. However, none of these were legendary-grade vessels. Though their rank as magical alchemical warships was respectable, their capabilities were diminished due to their time underwater, leaving them weaker than their peers.
A new, uncharted route appeared before Charlot, offering guidance for his next journey.
Without hesitation, Charlot ordered his fleet to set sail.
He had no way of knowing what the third labyrinth would be like, but as long as a path lay ahead, he would press forward. Was there any other choice?
...
However, there was a minor incident within the fleet.
Juno chose neither to remain aboard the Radiant Holy Kingdom nor to return to the Dolmabahçe but instead boarded the Swan Lake.
Left with no choice, Charlot summoned Cresto to take command of the Radiant Holy Kingdom in his stead. After all, only a Saint could fully unleash the ship’s power, and Charlot, at just the eighteenth rank, could not.
Charlot’s fleet had not sailed long before they re-entered the Christopher Route, only to encounter the fleet of Georgia Hadrian head-on.
Seeing hundreds of ghost ships in the distance, Georgia Hadrian immediately ordered his fleet to turn around.
As he watched Charlot’s ships—seemingly unaffected by the ghostly transformations—Georgia couldn’t fathom what had transpired. He took to the air alone to investigate.
The Black Phoenix Dynasty’s aristocratic count approached calmly. Though the two sides bore deep grudges, he saw no need for verbal sparring.
“Charlot Mecklenburg! What happened? Were you captured by the ghost fleet?” he called.
Standing aboard the Radiant Holy Kingdom, with Cresto beside him, Charlot answered, “Quite the opposite. We captured a portion of it!”
Georgia Hadrian scrutinized the repaired Radiant Holy Kingdom, and Charlot shrugged. “This ship has been restored,” he added.
After asking a few more questions, Georgia departed. Back aboard his ship, he observed Charlot’s fleet for a time before it vanished once more. Relieved, he ordered his fleet to continue onward.
Though he harbored suspicions about Charlot’s origins, Georgia was now convinced the man carried immense secrets.
Who else could command such a massive ghost fleet? To claim Charlot had no ties to an Evil God ruling over death—what fool would believe it? Recalling the events on Solomon Island, Georgia felt certain Charlot would eventually be devoured by an Evil God. There could be no happy ending for him.
Charlot disappeared from the Christopher Route, steering his fleet onto a hidden path. Before long, the third labyrinth loomed ahead.
